What if Hillary just walked away?

posted at 7:01 pm on February 8, 2014 by Jazz Shaw

Even nearly three years out, it’s become “common knowledge” which has been repeated by more folks than you can count. (Including yours truly) Hillary Clinton is going to run for President. How could she not? And assuming she does, she will most certainly win the Democrat nomination. On top of that, she will present a daunting challenge to the GOP candidate, no matter whether the nominee is “establishment” or “grassroots” or from the Planet Ork. But I’m seeing an increasing amount of speculation that perhaps the conventional wisdom is neither. Does she want to spend two more years on the campaign trail to win at least four – if not eight – years in the most stressful job in the world? She’d be around 80 years old when it was over. What if Hillary Clinton just chucks it all and walks away from the American Game of Thrones? And who would rise to fill the Democrats’ power vacuum?

Jim Geraghty shares some conversations he’s had on the subject at the Campaign Spot.

Frankly, I can’t see Beshear mounting any serious, national effort. (Though we did talk about his need to find a new job last week.) He doesn’t exactly have much in the way of the national name recognition beyond the borders of his state he’d need to raise that kind of money. I also don’t see any sort of outcry for him. Besides, he’s a center left Democrat – assuming such still exist – and yet another old white guy… precisely the opposite image the Democrats seem to be hankering for since the hard Left began feeling their oats.

Deval Patrick is an interesting option, though he has the same problem with national identity. Joe Biden would almost certainly be in the mix, but it just feels like he would almost as surely be blown off the stage during the debates (Again). Cory Booker’s name also bubbled up in Geraghty’s conversation, and he does get a lot of face time in the national media, but at this point that looks like a suicide move for the Democrats.

The only person mentioned who seems like a natural fit is Elizabeth Warren. She’s out of the mix by her own declaration, but it’s a fair bet that they only reason she said that was to not step on Clinton’s toes and toss herself into a buzzsaw by challenging the next inevitable candidate. If Hillary were to vanish from the picture, she might be right back in the headlines the next day. And as I mentioned before, that would be pretty good news for the GOP.

Hey… I can dream, can’t I?

Plus, here in the cradle of conservatism, you can’t mention a GOP contender without the long knives coming out.
It’s hers for the taking.

LOL! Wait until Biden or another of the hopeless few of the Democrat bench throw their hat in the ring.

Leftists are notorious.

Dirty infighting is the Democrats motto. Ask Hillary. You know, the woman Barrack Obama smeared as a ‘racist’ though her husband, and whose campaign originated those ‘birther’ claims.

thatsafactjack on February 8, 2014 at 7:36 PM

Not to forget, the story of the racist knuckledragger Jeremiah Wright was broken by Hillary’s supporters.

Can this country afford another racist president and administration?

rlwo2008 on February 9, 2014 at 12:28 PM

We’re already stuck with a leftist Permanent Government.

I won’t go as far as saying “At this point what difference does it make?”, but it will take a lot to reverse the situation no matter who is elected. At least as far as the federal government is concerned.

Say Hillary doesn’t run. Who immediately does? Warren? Brown? Cory Booker?

Say monkeys flew out of my butt, JP … who does the first one look like? Schumer? Durbin? Karl Heinz Granitza?

Let me be frank with you. Hillary may or may not run, but Biden will not be running in 2016 or any other year. In fact, you can safely cross all white males off your “possible” list

Hell, with his record and performance can you imagine a “white Obama” trying to get elected or re-elected?

Bill Clinton will be the last white male Deomcrat POTUS in US history…at least the last straight one.

Frank Lib on February 9, 2014 at 2:59 PM

Hillary is just an old running shoe.

Doesn’t give any support but you can’t through her away.

Hillary, the FORMER First Lady, the FORMER Senator, the FORMER, Sectary of State. FORMER Bill Clinton Sweat Heart.

Just can’t seem to hold a job or a man for very long.

If she runs for President she will become the joke of the Democratic party and be remembered only as the wall flower at the high school prom that never got to dance. This is her legacy of the future.

It is the fact that this nation is so morally corrupted that it really makes little difference which Godless socialist continues to take us down–including those ensconced in the GOP

John McCain said he might run. I doubt that it would bother him much which party he ran in–nor his trusty side-kick Miss Lindsey.

KY votes for Rats in state elections because they buy votes in the Harlan County area of the state to control local government jobs. None of these cretins like Beshear is ready for the national stage.

Hillary/Billary should exit the race holding hands with Jeb Bush, also a Democrat.

Bubbye.

Good grief people. Hillary is running and winning. Bill’s third and fourth term coming your way.

Democrats have this thing wired. First black, now first woman.

Rand Paul? Laughable to think he can beat Clinton.

You still don’t understand what this country has become?

This country reelected Barack Obama for crying out loud.

Meremortal on February 9, 2014 at 5:02 PM

Warren is beyond useless. She has zero chance of winning a national election (unless it’s in Europe). She can barely put together a thought besides ‘the middle class is getting hammered’. I must have heard that 5,000 times during her campaign because it’s the only phrase she has to offer.

Deval had to step in for her at press conference because she’s so inept.

I’d love for both of them to be running and him to point this out during a debate. I’d love this because neither of these clowns has an even remote shot at winning the presidency and it most likely means that Hillary isn’t running.

Stop me if you have heard this one.

A Donkey and Hillary go into a bar run by an Elephant. The Elephant asks “what can I get for you?”
The Donkey said “a candidate that has a clue.”

With the current electorate, the Democrats could run Karl Marx’s Rabid Mutt and the voters would deliver victory.

2012 took away the last of my hope that American voters will do the right thing.

How sad is your observation because it rings so true to the core of much of our problems. Only after “We The People” Awaken to the heart of what you said, then we can start the road back to the once great spirt that this Country was made of.

In the Democracy of the United States there are five distinct and separate branches of government. To be effective as true pillars of Truth, Integrity and the American Way each branch must work as intended NOT as refashioned by the “elected” who serve “We The People”.

The Five Branches are:
1. The Administrative
2. The Legislative
3. The Judiciary
4. We The People
5. Free Press

In a sane world, she would walk away in shame. She is, as George Will put it, only accomplished at raising money and running for office. that would make her about as great a leader as Obama. Other than that, there’s no substance or leadership qualities to either one of them. that said, all it took was an empty shell to win the last election so if she does run the democrats won’t care about her lack of accomplishments any more than they did with this president’s and will vote for her in droves. that is sad.

scalleywag on February 9, 2014 at 9:01 PM

Hillary proved you don’t have to be married to someone to have a relationship, with someone.

That’s what she meant by “”What difference – at this point, what difference does it make?”

People misunderstood her at the hearing. They thought it was about Benghazi.

If she ran, that could be the Convention theme

“What difference – at this point, what difference does it make?”

Can’t argue with prefection

Hillary should walk away, if she had a thread of decency in her. Oh well….

Hillary walks into a bar with a bulldog on a leash.

The bartender yells, “Hey, you can’t bring that pig in here!”

Hillary snarls, “It’s a dog, you idiot.”

They re-elected Obammey because are progressive nominee appeared to be as liberal as Obammey. He couldn’t tell the people how his policies would be any different than Obammeys. Obammy thanked Romney for designing his healthcare plan, and snip Robamney was done. When they debated foreign policy, Robamney stood stoned face and looked like a fool. But, we should get Jeb Bush as the GOP nominee, as he is ordained by the US Chamber of Crony Capitalism. Don’t think for one second that this is not a GOPe takedown of Chrispy Kreme

Brock Robamney on February 10, 2014 at 5:59 AM

If she starts walking please don’t get in her way. She can follow the yellow brick road right out of town!

Baracuda on February 10, 2014 at 10:03 AM

Very rare for a Democratic president to follow a two term Democratic president, and most believe it won’t happen in 2016. Democrats have the country going in the wrong direction and time for major changes. Don’t think Hillary has the stomach or will to run in 2016 so hope the Dems have a “plan B” in mind.
