Video: Blogger appears on daytime talk show

posted at 10:11 pm on February 4, 2014 by Mary Katharine Ham

This was quite a lot of fun. I was treated very kindly, and if anything, I wish we’d done some topics I’d have been more contentious with the crew on. Whoopi and I did get into a short fight about spinach, and whether it’s available to people of low incomes. We had a couple semi-political stories on the list for the show, but they didn’t make the cut. I just got back home on the train in an attempt to miss the winter storm coming tonight, so apologies for the late posting.

A couple highlights, courtesy of the Free Beacon:

And, here’s me giving my intro to the crew:

Hey MKH, did you forget that you legitimize that rot just by being there? At a certain point, we just should wall them off for the safety of the general population.

While I have no doubt you did a good job, I am opposed to this type of civil discourse from our side.

MKH, you were absolutely great. But sorry, I had to cut out at 3 minutes. Those other ladies are absolutely OBNOXIOUS. how on earth does Whoopie have that job? And Barbara Walters is starting to look like Meg Ryan’s face. Ew.

Okay, I admit it. She’s smoking hot. Only damned reason I’d ever watch 2 minutes of the view.

A beautiful Conservative female is like the elephant man exhibit at the circus there.

listens2glenn on February 4, 2014 at 10:47 PM

If The View has to have a “conservative women” week, shouldn’t the show be renamed “The Liberal View”?

monalisa on February 4, 2014 at 10:54 PM

How does it feel to appear before an audience of women whose average IQ is 20 points below room temperature? I doubt there were any retired/unemployed rocket scientists in the audience.

bw222 on February 4, 2014 at 10:54 PM

Did Whoopi explain what constitutes “rape rape” and what doesn’t? She would fit in perfectly with Melissa Harris-Perry and Joy Reid at MSNBC. The three have a lot in common: black, supposedly female (although I am not sure about Whoopi and Joy) and IQs under 50.

bw222 on February 4, 2014 at 11:02 PM

Yep, as much as I love MKH I couldn’t make it past the 30sec mark on the second clip. She should get an award just for making it through the show.

Vigilante on February 4, 2014 at 11:09 PM

I hated to, but I made myself watch the videos just to see MKH. Great job. Now I’ll go back to ignoring that show.

themediansib on February 4, 2014 at 11:46 PM

Nice job, as always. My criticism is the show. It’s three liberal bullies making sure they’re decorum is met. No chance to let loose the hounds of hell.

John the Libertarian on February 4, 2014 at 11:53 PM

or their, whichever you prefer

John the Libertarian on February 4, 2014 at 11:54 PM

…I wonder if bluegill watched?

KOOLAID2 on February 5, 2014 at 12:07 AM

The first time I ever watched anything having to do with this show, though obviously have known about it and its liberal bent. Mary Katharine was, well, her clever self and quite good. What struck me was the audience and how vacuous and shallow they were, for example, clapping at Whoopi’s ugly-assed shoes. And Wa-Wa going apoplectic about her mixed feewings as to Woodygate, it’s a fvcking circus. God bless you, MKH, for being there and showing proud, albeit among the children of a lesser god.

TXUS on February 5, 2014 at 12:08 AM

I don’t watch the View, cause I can’t stand all the one sided-ness whenever I do catch some of it. Even when Elizabeth was on. She was nice and OK, but much of the time didn’t articulate the conservative side well enough and sometimes diluted the message by trying to be “fair” and liked.

If they had Mary Katharine Ham on (and especially if they her and a second real and talented conservative to even things out better) I would watch the show. As long as they would let them talk. They would get better ratings and be taken more seriously.

Elisa on February 5, 2014 at 12:11 AM

They can’t afford to be slaughtered every day – it needs to be 4 against 1 to be a fair fight.

But MKH did a good job in appearing there, negating the liberal narrative about conservatives being angry white men waging war on women: all charm, no friction and no adverse story for the media to chew on. It sent the message that you can be a woman and a conservative and there is no down-side.

virgo on February 5, 2014 at 12:49 AM

That was Jenny McCarthy? I thought they were trying out a hooker to get the “street” view.

platypus on February 4, 2014 at 10:31 PM

Or not.

Speak the truth in love and you’ll win over hearts and minds much more effectively than being a hateful bigot. Treat others the way you wish to be treated – that golden rule does not stop at the door of politics.

Romans 12:17 Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men.

Nicely done, MKH

I am disappointed that Mary Katharine didn’t mention HotAir once. But maybe I missed it? She was introduced a few times as a “Fox News contributor”.

Seems like this site is often an afterthought for Mary Katharine, but I hope I’m wrong. She doesn’t post as much as the other bloggers, from what I can tell, and she rarely handles the big stories. A few times she actually posted things that had already been posted by other bloggers, making it seem like she wasn’t always reading the site for which she’s an editor.

Mary Katharine, does your role here play second or third fiddle to your other jobs? I was excited when you were announced as a blogger here, but it sometimes seems like your heart isn’t in it here. :-(

Hooker, porn star… po-tay-toes, po-tah-toes….

I’m for redemption for everyone, but it saddens me that with no contrition or disavowal of her past, she’s just accepted as mainstream. Same with Vanessa Williams.

In NYC MKH is a foreign species. I have lived here all my life and New Yorkers truly believe anything west of the Lincoln tunnel is untamed wilderness populated with toothless rednecks and marauding bands of extremist, gun toting conservatives, until they reach LA.

If they keep having confident, articulate Conservative women co-host, if they’re not careful some of their viewers might take the Red Pill.
