Rep. Issa: Benghazi on September 11th “was not an accident”

posted at 5:01 pm on December 29, 2013 by Erika Johnsen

House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa had already been scheduled for Meet the Press on Sunday, presumably to discuss once again the many lies and letdowns of ObamaCare, but the New York Timesrelease of their story concerning the role the much-debated video actually played in spurring the attack in Benghazi over a year ago quickly changed the discussion plans. Chairman Issa has been a major leader in the GOP’s investigation of what really went on in both Benghazi and among the senior levels of the administration in the aftermath, and while he didn’t full-on disparage the NYT’s reporting, he largely stuck to what Republicans have been insisting all along: The underlying point of their investigation has been to figure out why the Americans in Benghazi were not given the security they asked for well before the attack even started, and why there were no clear attempts to help them throughout — questions that the NYT’s story still doesn’t answer.

Al Qaeda is not decimated, and there was a group there that was involved that is linked to al Qaeda. … What I have claimed, and rightfully so, is Ambassador Stevens and others alerted well in advance that they had a security threat… On the day he was killed, he said it was a question of when, not if, there would be an attack. So, we had warning beforehand, and instead of increasing security, reduced security. During the attack, eight a half hours, we didn’t launch so much as one F-16. There’s a lot of questions about, not what the military capability is today, which has been improved, but what the military capability and response… And then lastly, there was this clear attempt, and Andrea said it very well, there was an attempt to put a bright spot — and maybe it was to cover up CIA activities — but they went out on five stations and told the story that was, at best, a coverup for CIA, and at worst, something that cast away this idea that there was a real terrorist operation in Benghazi.

New York Times is trying to prop up the incompetent shallow Hillary.

File under firm grasp of the obvious.

Even Killary should have realized Sigonella should be on full alert for Benghazi (and region) security well in advance of 9/11/2012 and Ambassador Stevens’ request for a DC-3 or similar escape plane should have been granted months before.

Issa is all bark and no bite. It’s just leverage for DC backroom deals.

Whether it was a YouTube video or not…. What difference, at this point, does it make? /

Fact of the matter is that this is the most corrupt Presidential administration in American history.

Refusing to prosecute the New Black Panthers for voter intimidation
Operation Fast and Furious
IRS targeting of groups unfriendly to the administration
NSA spying on Americans
The cronyism of Obamacare, Solyndra, and UAW bailouts.

Articles of impeachment would already have been filed if the lazy stupid bastard shucking and jiving his way through these scandals were not black.

It’s the surrender weasel mentality. Can’t possibly impeach anybody or hold anybody accountable so long as the Dems all but one half of one third of government.

Happy Nomad on December 29, 2013 at 5:20 PM

The Dems and lickspittle media had forgotten that 9/11 has any particular significance.

On purpose.

It fosters Islamophobia, for one thing.

And the loss of our diversity (as the Pentagon shill said about Major Hasan’s act of terror at Fort Hood) would be worse than the loss of 3000 Americans, right?

Um, earth to Darrel:

A coverup for the CIA is a cover up for the administration, they ordered the CIA to their mission in the first place.

You get em Issa. You have sent so many corrupt, lying Dem. weasels to the Gulag, and have gotten so many more fired, I’m surprised that there are any Dems. left in DC.

Oh, wait, I was dreaming. If I was ever going to be prosecuted for a crime, I would pray that Issa was the prosecutor. He’d have a hard time prosecuting a shoplifter with 12 Nuns as witnesses.

If you people would quit making videos these nice peaceful muzslimes would have no reason to harm anyone.

But provoking them with a video just makes them rape, torture and kill innocent men and women. They simple can’t help it since they all have flatscreens and free cable in their terrorist hideaway caves.

When Issa speaks nothing happens.
Empty suit.
If it was a movie Issa would be the double-agent pretending to be rooting out corruption, lies, bad guys, but really covering for the other side.

h/t to Power Line, which links to a piece totally demolishing the NYT Propaganda:

The New York Times Whitewashes Benghazi

excerpt (read the entire thing)

David D. Kirkpatrick of the New York Times has published a lengthy account of the September 11, 2012, terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya. While much in Kirkpatrick’s report is not new, the piece is receiving a considerable amount of attention because of this sweeping conclusion: “Months of investigation by The New York Times, centered on extensive interviews with Libyans in Benghazi who had direct knowledge of the attack there and its context, turned up no evidence that Al Qaeda or other international terrorist groups had any role in the assault.”

But how much effort did Kirkpatrick expend to uncover any possible al Qaeda ties? Judging by the Times’s glaring omissions, not much.

Kirkpatrick’s piece totals more than 7,000 words and yet he fingers only one suspect out of the dozens who took part in the attack. Another suspect, an ex-Guantanamo detainee, is briefly mentioned, but only then to dismiss the notion of his involvement.

Left out of the Times’s account are the many leads tying the attackers to al Qaeda’s international network.

Dr. Goebbels is looking up and smiling.

KOOLAID2 on December 29, 2013 at 6:15 PM

Don’t let the NYT get away with this outright fabrication. The whole purpose for the story is to lay cover for Hilary Clinton. After all this time we know what happened and didn’t happen in Benghazi but not why! It certainly wasn’t because of some internet video.

Let me guess, it really hurts your feelings he’s black doesn’t it? You have been waking up every night drenched in sweat for the last 5 years right? Don’t worry, it will soon be over. Three years will go by just like that.

That said, are we to expect another round of dog and pony hearings from this GOP fraud? He was a joke this morning on MTP.

Good grief, Qadaffi was warning that he was putting the lid on the Islamists/AlQaeda factions in East Libya well before Obysmal embarked on his “leading from behind” adventure. The area was rife with terrorists and training grounds.

Obysmal was intent on his campaign message that AlQaeda was “on the run” and “decimated.” He was not about to have that talking point ruined by the death of an ambassador and four others, after all.

Word has it that the trial of Morsi may shed the truth on who inflamed the jihadists.

The bottom line is that there was criminal negligence in not providing security on/around the significant anniversary of 9/11. Obysmal has been underplaying the importance of this date since he assumed office.

listens2glenn on December 29, 2013 at 7:35 PM

What I meant to say is that to the extent the NYT article raised new (revisionist) factual issues about what transpired at Benghazi, Issa should launch additional hearings to investigate those issues.

petefrt on December 29, 2013 at 8:49 PM

The truth is that even the Cairo and Tunisian demonstrations had been planned for months, the intent was to demand release of the Blind Sheik from US federal prison. Egyptian national TV ran the infamous “YouTube” video on the eve of the demonstration in order to boost attendance.

What is also known is that one of the acknowledged leaders of the Benghazi attack had been in Egyptian prison but was released by Morsi shortly before.

The NYT is simply lying, attempting to bend the facts in retrospect to buttress Hillary’s candidacy and erase her culpability. That’s what propagandists do.

Adjoran on December 29, 2013 at 9:06 PM

Dang it all, dang it all, dang it all. I don’t care if Mickey Mouse was in charge of the terrorist act. What matters is why Hillary/Washington did not respond to the pleas for help on security that had been coming for months and WHY all the lies if there was no incompetence. You all are yapping about the same old stuff, Al Quida, when what really matters is our lack of response and the damnable lies, lies, lies…..

AReadyRepub on December 29, 2013 at 10:21 PM

Rep. Issa’s hearing gets little MSM coverage just like the fact that so many don’t even know that 100 Watt incandescent light bulbs are outlawed and 40 and 60 watt ones will be on Jan 1st. If the MSM had treated Nixon like they do Obama, IMO, Nixon would have served out this second term. Obama has exceeded by many factors what Nixon did, but Nixon was a Republican and hated by the media.
With Republicans only controlling the House, as with the attempt to limit ObamaCare or a federal budget being passed every year since the 2010 election, nothing gets past the Democratically control Senate. If majority leader Reid doesn’t bring it up for a vote, there is no vote; its that simple.
Rep. Issa has no power except to expose what has happened and if the people sit on their couch and just yell at their TV, nothing will happen.
In 2009 because of a rigged election, as we are finding more about corruption in our 2012, the people went to the streets; Americans do nothing.

No doubt about it. The NYT is a attempting to clear a path for Hilliary. Allowing her to bypass blame using sematics, a video, and newspaper hitpiece as a campaign prop. This article must be debunked ASAP.
