Was Kim Jong Un wasted when he started that bloody purge of executions?

posted at 5:31 pm on December 24, 2013 by Erika Johnsen

The seemingly sudden execution of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s own uncle and administrative lieutenant earlier this month sparked quite a bit of speculation among foreign-policy analysts about what might really going on behind the mysteriously opaque curtain of that starving gulag state. Was there some sort of coup or power struggle between Kim and the elder politician? Was the younger Dear Leader taking an opportunity to demonstrate dominance in the midst a precariously unstable regime? Was it the result of some sort of weird love triangle or bad family blood? Was it about money?

Or was it more of an impulse than a thought-out tactical maneuver, executed in a hurry because Kim was just… schnockered? Via Fox News:

North Korea’s Kim Jong Un was reportedly “very drunk” when he ordered the recent execution of two aides close to his uncle Jang Song-thaek.

The pair, according to a report in The Independent citing Japanese newspaper Yomiuri Shimbun, questioned an order from the North Korean leader to transfer control of a business to the military. Kim was reportedly angered when they said they needed to check with “Director Jang” first before finalizing the switch. …

The two executions led South Korean government officials to believe Jang’s eventual death was “inevitable,” the newspaper reports.

At least eight people from Jang’s inner circle were killed in the power purge, including the director himself.

The vagaries of authoritarian petulance are stranger than fiction.

Seems a little thin. How could they know that without revealing a prime source. And if so, is this worth compromising it? Who knows, maybe this is part of a discredit operation aimed at weakening the dear leader.

It would be comforting to think that many of Obama’s decisions have been made when he was intoxicated.

I’m just not so sure that any intoxicant could have a negative effect on his IQ, though.

North Korea is one prime reason I lose patience with China. It is their creation. It is their proxy state. If they want some good will and not to mention improve ties with South Korea they would ditch the north and support the south in reunification.

The excuses about refugees is crap, because the real reason is the CCP don’t want a democratic and unified Korea under Seoul on their border is the fear they will influence the Chinese population to want more freedom. You can bet that is the real reason. Therefore the world has to deal with this joke of a country that China made. Not a good omen for what the CCP has in mind for the rest of Asia….hence why so many Asian nations are nervous.

Why does anyone think Kim Jong Un really had anything to say about the matter?
Chances are, it was all determined by court politics. It would surprise me if the kid exerted much control over the government at all.

That’s just it, though: it is probably the people “close to him” that determine who lives or dies. They guy doesn’t have the presence to be a dictator — just a figurehead that everyone else is jockeying to get in to place to manipulate.
In other words, typical royal court intrigue.

Such is life under tyrannies. Caprice and whim can rule decisions of life and death. I think of Nazi Germany, where, sometimes it was just a quirk of fate as to who lives and dies.

It makes me think of Obama. See, this is why rule of law, and respect for the law, is so important. Otherwise, maybe Obama’s breakfast of scrambled eggs doesn’t agree with him, and he decides to decree that there should be some “egg” provision in ObamaCare. Who knows with him.

In a country with rule of law, Obama’s theories on eggs wouldn’t rule the day, unless he could persuade the duly elected legislature to pass a law about it, which would then have to pass Constitutional muster in the courts. As it is, Obama is own our petty little dictator.

I asked, “Well what is going to happen to those people we can’t reeducate, that are diehard capitalists?” And the reply was that they’d have to be eliminated.

And when I pursued this further, they estimated they would have to eliminate 25 million people in these reeducation centers.

And when I say “eliminate,” I mean “kill.”

Twenty-five million people.

Don’t think it can happen here? They’ve been planning it for decades now.
