Reich: People are going to “stop complaining” about ObamaCare when enrollment picks up

posted at 5:01 pm on December 15, 2013 by Erika Johnsen

…Are you sure about that? Via RCP:

ROBERT REICH: Well, justified, not justified. What the president wanted to talk about this week was the fact that there are 350,000, 360,000 enrollees in November, new enrollees in November at the — on the — the healthcare.com. And, in fact, he can’t talk about that. I mean the attacks on ObamaCare, on the Affordable Care Act, have been absolutely relentless. It was a terrible mistake for him to say what he did. But, you know, after a while, you’ve got to look at the fact that we have one of the most important reforms of the health care system of the United States ever enacted. …At the present rate of enrollment, we’re going to have over a million people enrolled by January and people are going to stop complaining.

First of all, color me skeptical that the White House really wanted to spend the week bending over backwards to explain away their scant enrollment numbers and the possibility that plenty of those people probably have yet to even pay for their plans, and secondly — will people stop complaining once even more people are enlightened as to ObamaCare’s true, redistributive, and wildly expensive nature? …Good luck with that. Via the AP:

Americans who already have health insurance are blaming President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul for their rising premiums and deductibles, and overall 3 in 4 say the rollout of coverage for the uninsured has gone poorly.

An Associated Press-GfK poll finds that health care remains politically charged going into next year’s congressional elections. Keeping the refurbished HealthCare.gov website running smoothly is just one of Obama’s challenges, maybe not the biggest. …

In the survey, nearly half of those with job-based or other private coverage say their policies will be changing next year – mostly for the worse.

Oh yeah people are going to love paying higher premiums and deductables. His figures are delusional at best, there are no enrollees till they start paying. But then again the Obama faithful thought it was supposed to free.

Amazingly, lefty Cokie Roberts knocked him back by reminding him that the employer mandate has only been delayed a year, and when it kicks in, many employers will drop employee coverage and let their employees go buy it in the exchanges. (If they have under 50 employees, they don’t even have to pay the fine.)

That should happen when the 2015 renewals are due….say late October, early November 2014….anything happening around then?

Right On…

The “intellectual elite” by definition has a problem dealing with the real world. If everyone got better insurance cheaper, Reich would be correct. But everyone is going to get worse health care at multiples of their current payments.

The is a failure.

CrazyGene on December 15, 2013 at 5:21 PM

Even if they enroll 1 million by 1 January, how many of them had a health insurance plan they liked and was cancelled, and then went to the website to sign up for a more expensive plan with benefits they don’t want or need? If the numbers are correct, up to 5 million have had their policies canceled. So if 1 million do sign up, the net is a – 4 million. Not much to brag about.

Four pinnochios. Reich knows it was the strategic lie to say, because if Obama had honestly told people they’d lose the plans and doctrs they liked, he might not have been elected, re-elected, or been able to get the Dems to ram Obamcare through. The Dems would not have had the AMA in the back room with them, for sure.

What really continues to piss me off about Reich and every other dam* Leftist is that they do not care that there are tens of millions of Americans who do NOT want to participate in Obamacare and we’re sick and tired of government telling us what to do, telling us what’s good for us, and making decisions for us. Why won’t they just leave us alone? I will never accept Obamacare. Ever.

What Leftists never seem to recognize is that their entire philosophy is based on coercion, compulsion, and power. A thousand Obamacare “success” stories is not justification for forcing even one person to participate Obamacare against his will.

That’s why I continue to compare Liberals to rapists. Because like rapists they force themselves on you against your will regardless of how loudly you scream NO. And like a rapist they will even ask you afterward if you liked it.

Reich is representative of the DC elitists who look down on We the People as helpless children in need of their benevolent leadership and protection.

Kevin R on December 15, 2013 at 6:01 PM

The bottom line is, you can’t force people to buy things in a free market. My insurance on the individual market got cancelled, but there’s no effin way that I’m going to go on the “exchange,” (I wouldn’t get a subsidy anyway) and no way I’m paying double for a worse product. I can’t. I can’t afford it. If people couldn’t afford to buy insurance before, how the hell are they going to pay double for it now just because a law was passed? You can’t get blood from a stone. Regarding the penalty, what are they going to do? Throw 90 percent of Americans behind bars for not buying bad insurance? The whole thing is absurd.

Wake up Robert, you are living in a liberal fantasy dream land.

These last few months will truly be the good old days when the employer mandate hits next year. Tens of millions of people will be hit with lost insurance and massive cost increases for less coverage, it will be ugly.

RJL on December 15, 2013 at 6:07 PM

The hot stories next year are going to be all about the stars of the Left buying concierge services and eschewing ACA insurance.

DarthBrooks on December 15, 2013 at 6:09 PM

I’ve devised a means of getting the conservative message out to the masses.

Since the MSM isn’t going to carry it… people have tried blogging, billboards…with limited success… so…

We need to print the message on the back of sports figures jerseys….and across the breasts of well endowed entertainment ‘hotties’…and in the case of Miley Cyrus…. across her narrow derriere… since that’s what we generally see of her and lately she’s waggling in the face of all and sundry on camera.

While so many, particularly on the left but also, sadly, many in the ‘center’ and even on the right, refuse to read a well written article, or even a billboard, most of them can tell you everything about their favorite ‘hotties’ and about sports stars.

Ergo… put the message where it will be seen.

Say… maybe we could get the Kardashians to wear it printed on their spandex dresses…

thatsafactjack on December 15, 2013 at 6:13 PM

The only reason Obamacare’s poll numbers are so high is because people have not actually lived under it yet. It is going to take most people a long, long time to see a doctor and an even longer time to meet their deductibles.

Laurence on December 15, 2013 at 6:15 PM

At the present rate of enrollment, we’re going to have over a million people enrolled by January and people are going to stop complaining.

How many of those are Medicaid, whose premiums are being paid by the hardworking taxpoyer who also has to pay his increased premiums as well, for a lousier coverage, too?

Wethal on December 15, 2013 at 6:16 PM

He’s not dreaming, he’s lying. The first price you have to pay for being on the left is that even very intelligent people have to lie for the party line. You cannot choose to show your superior intelligence by rejecting absurdity, or you’re out.

Actually, modern “conservatives” and neocons work the same way. Deny that Muslims are interchangeable with Methodists and you’re out.

Robert Reich is keeping his perfect record. He’s never been right about an economic policy, ever.

The really bad news for the only man alive who has to look up to Tom Daschle is that most of the people who are going to lose their employer-based coverage or see their premiums, deductibles, and copays go through the roof don’t even know it yet.

As I’ve said from the start, the website is not the problem, it’s just cosmetics. The entire system is flawed beyond repair. There are no “fixes” and “delays” don’t begin to address the issues.

This repulsive little garden gnome is the perfect face for this administration of fascist thugs. “We” will decide for you what treatments you may have and when it’s time for you to die, because “we” are so much smarter and better than you.

Go f–k yourself, you worthless little weasel. Decisions about a person’s medical care should be left to the patient and his or her family. They can decide what treatment(s) they want or don’t want, and how much they’re willing to pay for them. The government should have no say in the matter.

AZCoyote on December 15, 2013 at 6:42 PM

Romney was absolutely crucified for simply having been associated at one time with a company which had the wife of one of it’s employees die.

How many stories are there like Jim Hoft’s over at Gateway Pundit?

People who’ve depended on doctors and facilities for lifesaving treatments are now finding out those either may not be or actually are not available to them under the new non-”substandard” plans.

(If there’s one thing that worries a cancer patient, I’m sure it’s knowing that birth control pills are free.)

Yet do we see the liberal media covering these stories?

We don’t have to wait for the unelected board to begin its work for death panels to occur.

Obamacare is THE death panel
