IRS: The evolution of a scandal in the president’s mind

posted at 6:51 pm on December 6, 2013 by Mary Katharine Ham

May 2013: Outrage at the information he has just learned, only from reporters, vague and lofty promises to right this wrong and hold people accountable, lest the very fabric of this nation be sullied.

“This is pretty straight forward. If, in fact, IRS personnel engaged in that kind of practice and intentionally harmed conservative groups, that is outrageous,” Obama said. “That’s outrageous, and there’s no place for it, and they have to be held fully accountable.”

“I don’t care if you’re a Democrat, Independent, or a Republican,” Obama said. “At some point there is going to be a Republican administration. Either way, you don’t want the IRS ever being perceived as anything less than neutral. This is something I think people are properly concerned about.”

“If you got the IRS acting as anything other than a nonpartisan way, then that is outrageous, that is contrary to our traditions, and people have got to be held accountable and it has got to be fixed.”

July 2013: Curt dismissal, slight sadness that this scandal formerly known as an outrageous threat to our nation’s integrity which he would not tolerate, is now distracting from serious issues, like all the tax money he wants to spend.

For most of this year, we’ve seen an endless parade of distractions and political posturing and phony scandals and we keep on shifting our way — shifting our attention away from what we should be focused on, which is how do we strengthen the middle class and grow the economy for everybody?

December 2013: Sarcasm and disbelief that ideological allies would dare find something wrong with the conduct formerly known as concerning whether you’re a “Democrat, Independent, or a Republican.”

OBAMA: That’s not — that’s not something that’s reported about. If, on the other hand, you’ve got an office in Cincinnati, in the IRS office that — I think, for bureaucratic reasons, is trying to streamline what is a difficult law to interpret about whether a nonprofit is actually a political organization, deserves a tax exempt agency. And they’ve got a list, and suddenly everybody’s outraged.

MATTHEWS: 501(c)(4) is tricky to begin with, how to define it.

OBAMA: To begin with.

The president even appeared annoyed that liberal commentators once dared to challenge him on the point:

OBAMA: And by the way, Chris, I’ll point out that there are some so-called progressives and, you know, perceived to be liberal commentators who during that week were just as outraged at the possibility that these folks, you know, had — had been, you know, at the direction of — the Democratic Party, in some way — discriminated against these folks.

Barky certainly enjoys the effects of his corrupted IRS and Just-Us having harassed the opposition PACs.

He’s only offended by the truth leaking out.

I hope when the GOP gets the reins again, they use the full force and power of the federal government to fark up the dems as badly as they did to the conservatives.

I don’t care if it’s illegal. The rules should be the same for both sides.

IF Mathews had been a REAL reporter, and not simply a propagandist, he would have followed up by asking Obama if he was concerned that the General counsel of the IRS had answered with ‘I do not recall’ 80 times in a congressional hearing just LAST week!

And then he would have asked Obama if he was aware of the e-mails between HIS general counsel and the IRS regarding this scandal!!

But ‘tingles’ was too busy trying to keep his own leg dry …

We had to elect Barack Obama to find out what a lying, narcissistic, arrogant, petulant, feckless, and ideology driven SCOMAF he really is.

He lies and changes his story at whim because he considers the American people as too stupid, clueless, and distracted to pay attention – and he knows that the sycophants in the lapdog media will cover for him because of ideological loyalty.

Someone posted a link earlier for this on another post and I apologize for not remembering who it was but it was such a great article that finally put out in the open what we’ve suspected, that I wanted to get the text out there……

PAUL RYAN is nothing more than a traitorous Progressive. I can’t believe I even worked my butt off to elect Romney / Ryan in 2012. Never again you lying sack of shinola republican leadership.

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/12/05/Immigration-expert-Paul-Ryan-most-open-borders-person-in-Congress

Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) Executive Director Mark Krikorian said on Thursday that House Budget Committee chairman Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) is by far the most open borders-minded member of the U.S. Congress—even more so than Democrats like Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL), who is aggressively and publicly calling for President Barack Obama to halt deportations of illegal aliens.

“Paul Ryan is probably the most ideologically committed open-borders person in Congress. I would say even more than the Democrats,” Krikorian said in an interview with American Family Radio’s Sandy Rios, One News Now reports.

One News Now’s Chad Groening added that Krikorian explained that “Ryan’s support is not based on money but is a ‘quasi-religious principle’ that limiting the number of people allowed into the United States is wrong.”

“Even though Krikorian believes Republicans like Boehner and Ryan would like to pass an amnesty bill, he still doesn’t think they’ll be able to get it done this year,” Groening wrote.

In response to Krikorian’s comments, Ryan’s office provided Breitbart News with a series of pro-border security statements he released on his website earlier this year.

“We need to secure the border,” Ryan said in one of them. “We are in an age of national-security threats of transnational terrorism. We have drug cartels that are trying to ship drugs in to pollute the lives of our children. We need to secure the border.”

According to a July report from the Associated Press’ Donna Cassata titled “Dems pin immigration hopes on GOP’s Ryan,” Democrats from President Obama to Gutierrez noted they were relying on Ryan to fulfill their amnesty agenda.

“Paul Ryan says we cannot have a permanent underclass of Americans, that there needs to be a pathway to citizenship,” Gutierrez said, as the AP quoted him in July. “He is my guiding light. I know I get him in trouble every time I say it.”

The AP added that President Obama’s top White House aides frequently cite Ryan’s support for amnesty. “Senior White House aides often mention the Wisconsin Republican as crucial to the prospects for legislation this year, hoping the Republican with impeccable conservative credentials will sway recalcitrant House members,” the AP wrote. “Ryan also is a reminder of two other powerful forces backing an overhaul of immigration laws — the Catholic Church and business.

Another illustration that there’s a time limit on everything Obama says. MKH, you should write a book on it. I mean, it writes itself. Back to 2004, over and over again. Ten years now.

Obama doesn’t stand behind what he says. So the most important thing is make a record of it.

It was last May that we learned that it was Lois Lerner in DC heading up targeting conservative groups and not rogue agents in Cincinnati.

Yep. Today, people are “voluntarily” enrolling in a database, sold as “health care” because political manipulation is the short term goal. Evisceration of the middle class/total empowerment of the ruling class is the long term goal, and the sticks are all stocked up.

I think you’ve encapsulated not just the IRS, but every Obamanation scandal.

First, he’s surprised to learn of it, and it’s unacceptable. Then, it’s just a distraction from the serious issues he is working oh-so-hard on for everybody, then — ah, then it’s a vicious attempt by political enemies to destroy his administration at the expense of the entire nation.

If only they could be nonpartisan and non-ideological, like him!!

These people are setting up the 2014 election. I personally believe the 2012 election was stolen, but if that’s too hard a word, let’s just say the victory was managed. It was managed in a number of ways which, when you put them all together, led to the desired result. One of the pieces of that puzzle was the IRS shutting down tea party participation, by tying up these groups in the application system for 501c4 status.

The way these people think, I can see them justifying doing this again and winning congressional seats the same way they did in 2012. Nothing is going to change, the DOJ is not going to investigate, the FBI is stalling the congressional committees. They feel they can stall and delay this until after the 2014 election and, you know what, they just might be right.

Until the legacy media starts peppering them on this topic, nothing will happen. The only way for the media to pepper them is to have so much noise being created about this they have to. The Republicans better learn from the Democrats how to constantly message something they want to get out. Remember Pelosi, Reid, and the Democrats in 2006 with the “CUlture of Corruption”. Little did we know the Democrats would make the Republicans look like pikers when it came to corruption, but they did succeed in turning the House and the Senate. THey did it with the MSM repeating everything they said and they swayed the electorate.
