Obama to Netanyahu: Can you chill out on complaining about my Iran deal?

posted at 2:31 pm on November 30, 2013 by Jazz Shaw

It’s been clear ever since the deal was struck that Israel was no fan of the six month “temporary arrangement” being cooked up with Iran. Bibi Netanyahu was out in front of the press calling it an historic mistake and refusing to have his nation bound by any such agreement. His criticism – along with that of many of Israel’s supporters – hasn’t tapered off since then, even though the White House seems to have bought itself six months to come up with something more palatable. But the President isn’t one to just ignore the concerns of a valued ally like Israel, so he placed a call to suggest to Netanyahu a new plan for moving things forward. Hey… how about you just shut up?

President Obama has sent a query to Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu, asking the fiery and blunt-talking prime minister to take a break from his criticism of the U.S.-forged deal with Iran.

The Washington Post reported that Mr. Obama made the request during a phone call with the Israeli leader.

Mr. Netanyahu has publicly slammed the deal, saying Iran has won concessions that put Israel’s security in jeopardy. In the phone call, Mr. Obama said he’d keep Israel authorities in the loop on the final settlement arrangement —which could come as early as in six months — if Mr. Netanyahu could quiet his rhetoric a bit, The Hill reported.

Mr. Obama also reiterated that America and Israel have the same policy goals over Iran.

I’m not the expert on the Middle East here (I’ll leave that to Allahpundit), but even I don’t see this as a really high probability pitch. The real problem here may just be the one which was highlighted by the fact that Bibi came out blasting with a public statement on day one. Things have changed in the American Israeli relationship and this looks like a very telling symptom of it. There was a time when that press conference probably wouldn’t have happened. First of all, Israel probably would have either been at the table for the negotiations, or at least had a US rep on the phone with them keeping them updated as the talks proceeded. And if the deal looked like too much of a loser, Netanyahu would have picked up the phone and had the ear of the White House, cutting things off at the pass before they reached such a strained point.

Clearly Bibi doesn’t feel that’s a viable option with the current administration, so he winds up taking his case to the international community on CNN. Everyone is still painting a bit of a hopeful face on things – a requirement to be sure – because the day will have to come when the relationship gets back on a more historically normal keel. But for the time being, expect more of these public spats, at least until Israel feels they have the ear of the White House again.

I’m not pulling anyone’s legs
we’re blessed to live through the transformative age of Obama, he’s the type of leader that comes around once every few decades
Obama has the unflappable cool of JFK, the lionizing courage of Lincoln, and the intellectual depth of Jefferson…he will be one of the Great Ones.

After seeing this quoted, slammed, and satirized by others, I just had to go back and read this original post. Good Lord. What planet have you been living on, “partisan”? For only a “partisan” would say anything remotely similar to that. Even Leftists now disagree with you on a variety of topics. Sliced bread really was a better idea.
geeeeeeeesh …

I have in the past, and am now again, starting to believe that nonpartisan is a sock puppet by Allah or someone else. This is too much of a caricature of leftism to be real.

On top of that, if nonpartisan is a real person, it is astounding the level of dishonesty displayed. Nonpartisan spends about 50% of its time trying to convince everyone that it is independent and that it supported and voted for Romney. To literally worship Obama in this way yet claim to have voted against Obama is laughable.

I graduated from Harvard Law myself and know well what it takes to make partner at a top firm…Obama certainly had ‘it’ to be partner if he so chose

What a load. Your dishonesty and ignorance are staggering.

Obama never practiced law. He never published. He never tried a case. He never advised a client.

Maybe he would have been a good attorney. We will never know. To claim he would have somehow been a great one without any evidence is ridiculous. And the idea that you attended any law school is laughable.

I know you believe Obama is the greatest thing since sliced bread (what happened to claiming you supported Romney?) but the reality is we have no proof Obama is even average intelligence, let alone the super intelligence fans like you claim.

He has never said anything new or interesting. If you believe he has, please cite it. Cite where he expressed a thought that was new, or different than the average liberalism we’ve heard for the last 20 years.

He’s never published (discounting his ghost-written biographies about his childhood).

As a State Senator, he did nothing – quick cite what he accomplished as a state senator.

As a U.S. Senator, he did nothing – quick, again, cite what he accomplished.

He went to the top prep school in Hawaii but then went to Occidental – hardly a top undergraduate school. So, any rational person would assume neither his grades or SAT scores were exemplary or else he would have attended a more prestigious undergrad.

He has not released any school transcripts or SAT scores – so as best we know, he was an average student. Again, simple logic dictates that if his grades and SAT scores were stellar – he would release them.

We don’t know if he got into Harvard based on LSAT scores or grades (from the at best average undergrad he attended), or whether his race played a role in his getting in. Because he won’t release his school grades or LSAT score, I’m guessing the latter. Otherwise he would release them.

He was editor of the Harvard Law Review – but we know that he did not write on or grade on to the Law Review – that he was voted on based on popularity. So, that feather is a popularity contest feather, not an intellectual award.

He became editor of Law Review based on an election – again not based on any writing or scholarly merit.

He has never said anything in a single speech that will be remembered in 5 years, let alone 20 or 100. Quick, cite something he said that is memorable or has deep meaning.

His sole accomplishment as President is Obamacare. Name one other thing he has accomplished (oh yeah, he “got” OBL – by simply letting the military/intelligence agencies continue what they had been doing for the previous 8 years. Yes, he was in charge when it happened, but he didn’t actually “do” anything toward the end result – if you believe he actually had some personal involvement in finding OBL – please explain).

So, he has exactly one “accomplishment” to his life (aside from winning elections, which I will admit he is good at) – Obamacare. And that “accomplishment” is an utter failure that is likely (hopefully) going to be completely repealed after 2016.

So, what exactly makes Obama the greatest man that ever lived again? Is it his speeches (again, cite me something he said that is a new thought or is memorable)? Is it his writings (he has none)? His what exactly?

It is one thing to claim you support Obama because you support liberalism and therefore are going to support a liberal candidate/president. Fine. But to claim this guy is “great” with absolutely no evidence or accomplishments is simply ridiculous and shows a strange god-like worship by you (who, again, claimed to support Romney despite worshiping Obama like a god).

I am routinely baffled by those who claim Obama is the second coming.

The closest thing we have on the right are the super Palin fans. Now, I am a Palin fan in that I agree with about 90% of what she says and like her spunk, but some of the more ardent Palin fans put her intellect and political abilities wayyyy above what has ever been demonstrated (not to say she is not intelligent, just that they seem to think she is a super-genius). But even the Palin fans don’t come close to some of the Obama worship.

But, like I said up-thread, I think nonpartisan (or at least this iteration of her) may be a sock-puppet. I find it hard to believe even the most ardent leftist really believes all of the hype about Obama after 5+ years of evidence to the contrary, so the most rational answer is that NP is Allah or someone else tweaking we commentators.

Or, I guess, the alternative is that people like nonpartisan simply like to throw crazy-bombs into a discussion.

Any one of those can be validly argued with regard to NP.

Why? If the deal is as bad as the Israelis think it is… then their very survival is in the balance. Why would they meekly sit by while their future is bargained away for nothing?

One small thing overlooked…he “passed” the bar to become an attorney, and was given a tentative license, but when they found some “discrepancies” in his exam rather than fight for his license, he allowed them to revoke his temporary status as an attorney, and they closed the “books” on his exam.

So he was never an attorney, never passed the bar…and relinquished his license rather than be challenged.

Michelle passed the bar, and btw, the Chicago bar is perhaps the easiest bar in the country to pass.

And one of the few, if not the only, President Law Review from Harvard that never served under a Supreme Court Justice. The most coveted job of any law school graduate, but then you have to be asked, and have the intellect to serve…
Could it have been that he was the first President of the Law Review to be elected, and not based on intellectual accomplishment?

People like him set back affirmative action, or at least define it…

Obama junta would like Israelis to line up quietly for the incineration by Iran.

Obama junta would like ‘certain Americans’ to line up quietly for their termination through death panels.

The peons were warned by Obama and Oprah themselves but allowed themselves to be manipulated by the basest of emotions or plain ignorance.

The peons deserve what they get.

Time for the Mossad to pass some of their compromising photos of Barack to Moochelle … with the advice that she encourage C.I.C. Choom to grow some gonads on Iran. STAT.

(And lo! the name “Barack!!!!!” was heard echoing throughout the White House.)
