Matt Lewis to Michael Eric Dyson: Why can’t you talk politics without bringing race into it?

posted at 11:26 am on November 21, 2013 by Allahpundit

Via the Daily Caller, is this really the first time Dyson’s been called out on the air for his one-note race-card shtick? Hard to believe, as is the fact that it’s mild-mannered centrist righty Matt Lewis who finally snapped. This feels almost like a breach of etiquette: Aside from rote racial demagoguery of your political opponents, Lewis is basically asking, why are you even on the panel? Answer: Because MSNBC wants rote racial demagoguery of its political opponents and there’s no more reliable provider within the TV commentariat than MED. He’s there because they expect him and want him to give this answer. It’s not as crass as Bashir wishing someone would crap in Palin’s mouth, but it’s part of the same cutthroat impulse towards demonization that defines the network. Dyson’s response, meanwhile, is that Lewis is exercising “white privilege” by confronting him on this. Which, of course, is exactly what you’d guess he would say.

Interesting, by the way, that neither liberal Krystal Ball nor shrieking arch-liberal Bashir takes any theatrical umbrage at Lewis for saying this. Maybe even they can’t in good conscience pretend that he’s wrong.

Why do conservatives even go on the network? Does it serve any useful purpose? I suppose it’s good if they can do what Lewis did here and call them on their idiocy, but most conservatives who go on MSNBC won’t do that.

Except that Bashir doesn’t have a good conscience.

Because liberals can’t win an argument on substance, so they have to try and shut up their opponents by calling them (fill in the blank with your favorite victicrat slur)..

The State of Obamacare
**********************

I haven’t been writing about the healthcare.gov thing, for the simple reason that I have nothing to say. What’s going on isn’t a policy question: we know from the states with working exchanges (including California) that the underlying structure of the law is workable. Instead, it’s about an implementation botch, which is an incredible mess, and reflects very badly on Obama. But the future of the reform depends not on policy per se but on whether the IT issues can be fixed well enough soon enough, a subject on which I have zero expertise.

Of course, that hasn’t stopped other people from breathlessly commenting on every twist and turn in the polls, every meaningless vote in the House, and so on. Hey, it’s a living.

But at this point there’s enough information coming in to make semi-educated guesses — and it looks to me as if this thing is probably going to stumble through to the finish line. State-run enrollments are mostly going pretty well; Medicaid expansion is going very well (and it’s expanding even in states that have rejected the expansion, because more people are learning they’re eligible.) And healthcare.gov, while still pretty bad, is starting to look as if it will be good enough in a few weeks for large numbers of people to sign up, either through the exchanges or directly with insurers.

If all this is right, by the time open enrollment ends in March, millions of previously uninsured Americans will in fact have received coverage under the law, and reform will be irreversible.

Obama personally may never recover his reputation; Democratic hopes of a wave election in 2014 are probably gone,

although you never know. But anyone counting on Obamacare to collapse is probably making a very bad bet.

What I take from that video is that white people simply aren’t willing to shut up and cower anymore when people of color hurl that charge of “racism”. It used to be a conversation stopper, where white people would sit in guilty silence, but the facts just don’t support it anymore. People aren’t opposing Barack Obama because he’s black. If that were the case, he’d never have been elected at all, let alone twice. People are opposing Barack Obama because he’s just the worst president we’ve ever had, and not all of his opponents are white.

Matt Lewis to Michael Eric Dyson: Why can’t you talk politics without bringing race into it?

Because he doesn’t have an argument to support his larcenous demands.

It is way past time somone with some authority and widespread recogniton says to a Dyson/Jackson/Sharpton “I don’t regard you as less than a man because of your skin color; I regard you as less than a man because you hide behind it, because you use it as shield to ward off accustions of wrongdoing, and mostly because you refuse to attempt to achieve anything other than loudly announcing the color of that skin.

A site security fool, a university professor who testified to Congress on the obama’care’ security risks two days ago, from the left, said on Faux this morning:

“If you have ins. and are lucky to be in that situation, don’t go to the site; it’s not secure and it would take 3 months to review/fix, just the security part…but, if you don’t have ins. then go there and give them your private and totally exposed information”.

Most Americans want to have health care; that said, I don’t think most Americans are keen on being billed for other peoples’ health care. I don’t think I can see my way clear to thinking that this makes them racists.

Having said that, any sane conservative who wastes his time going on an MSNBC show with a clown like Bashir as host is pretty much wasting his time, and is highly unlikely to be allowed to make his case.

It’s fascinating how they keep upping the ante. He starts off with saying “a great deal of the opposition” and ends up with “the bulk of the opposition” is due to racism.

Since this man is a professor and he obviously likes to deal in facts, could someone please ask him how he quantified this number? 51% or more of people who oppose Obama are racist? Is it 80%? 99%? Where is he getting these figures from?

Sadly, Oprah, who probably did a lot of good in her past, as she became a billionaire, now has shown she has a toxic amount of race on the brain. And this is one of the most worldly, accomplished, intelligent black women out there … and yet she really believes this stuff. She should be better than that. She should be a light for the rest of the world.

Oprah is projecting her own personal struggle with being black onto whites, smearing them as racists. It’s wrong, it’s hateful, it’s dangerous. It’s destructive. It’s a sign of the times too.

Dyson’s response, meanwhile, is that Lewis is exercising “white privilege” by confronting him on this.

That was the truly offensive part. Quoting Oprah to slander any Obama critic as racist was dumb, but that’s par for the course with the Democrat/media complex. But to go to the “white privilege” card when Matt Lewis tried to question Dyson’s insinuation was almost laughable. I think the reason Bashir and Ball didn’t comment on it was because even they knew it was unwise to go anywhere near that remark. And that’s saying something considering Bashir is the dude who requesting someone crap in Palin’s mouth just a few days ago.

There are all kinds of “isms” in this world of which racism is just one. Always have been, always will be. Racism is a fact, accept that and then ignore it because it cannot stop a determined person from succeeding. Oprah and many, many others of color didn’t let it get in their way. Unlike in the past, today it isn’t a realistic reason for not succeeding, it is just an excuse for personal failure.

Mitoch55 on November 21, 2013 at 1:49 PM

There’s so much race baiting fail here, it’s hard to know where to start.

The race baiting agenda here is merely injecting personal opinion. There are no facts to substantiate it which cold pass scientific testing of it as a claim to being real. So it’s left to stand as nothing more than an emotional appeal, like the emotional appeal of a terrible twosie who’ isn’t getting her way.

Secondly, it’s a cowardly argument. Dyson can’t bring it up himself and prove it by argument, because he has no proof. In fact the only reason Dyson was brought in was to end the program segment with it and he stonewalled it quite nicely for Bashir to end the segment on it. So, kudos to Lewis for trying to put a kibosh on that.

But furthermore on the cowardly issue, Dyson hides behind Oprah skirt to make the charge, so he has at least one defense, the cut and run defense (otherwise known as the ‘Cry Uncle’ defense), if necessary, to avoid having to avoid getting is ass kicked on the issue: “Oprah said it, not me!”

Lastly, just skipping past the fact that Oprah is dissing the American public not to make a political argument but to crassly promote her stupid effin’ movie so she can profit from it, this is also a cowardly argument squared — in cowardly fashion Dyson points to a comment by a cowardly Oprah dissing a major portion of the American public while amongst foreigners. She doesn’t have the guts to do it at home to our faces. She does in England. What a loser she is.
