Netanyahu: “This is a bad deal — a very, very bad deal”

posted at 10:01 am on November 8, 2013 by Erika Johnsen

According to the Obama administration’s benchmarks, whatever those may be, the first day of diplomatic discussion with Iranian officials in Geneva on Thursday went pretty darn swimmingly, and with reports of some kind of “first step” concessions-in-exchange-for-sanctions-relief dealmaking apparently in the works, Secretary of State John Kerry hopped on a plane yesterday to go meet up with his team — but not before a pit stop in Israel. Via the NYT:

Mr. Kerry was scheduled to have a three-way meeting Friday afternoon with Iran’s foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, and the European Union’s foreign policy chief, Catherine Ashton, who oversees the multiparty negotiations.

The State Department’s spokeswoman, Jen Psaki, said in a statement that Mr. Kerry would go to Geneva “in an effort to help narrow the differences in the negotiations.” …

American officials have cast the accord as a “first step,” which would halt the progress in Iran’s nuclear program for perhaps six months to give negotiators time to pursue a more comprehensive agreement. In return, the United States would relax some financial sanctions. …

Mr. Kerry met in Israel on Friday for more than two hours with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu before flying to Geneva to join the talks.

After which Netanyahu immediately took to the airwaves early this morning with one simple, succinct message: A thousand times, NO.

Last night in Geneva, an Iranian official insisted that “it is possible to reach an understanding for an agreement before we close these negotiations tomorrow evening” and that “there is a window of opportunity now that… needs to be seized,” and it sounds like the Obama administration wants to move on it, too.

So, hopefully this deal gets deep-sixed?

King Barack will take anything the Iranians give him. Then the whores of the MSM can kick into overdrive praising The Lord High Obamassiah.

Anything to get ObamaCare off the front page.

Nobody I’d rather have negotiating with terrorists for me than John F’ing Kerry. Who served in Vietnam, or so I’ve heard. Mostly from him. If you think I need a sarc tag then I think you need a clue.

Pest on November 8, 2013 at 10:16 AM

If Obama has a diplomatic ObamaCare in mind, some signature accomplishment, its a “deal” with Iran.

Like ObamaCare itself, accomplishing the goal is going to be a disaster with enormous consequence. Sad to say though, while the impact of ObamaCare is mostly disaster for the American economy, the American worker and our form of government, the impact of a deal with Iran has already been the unwinding of carefully nurtured alliances with the Saudis and the Israelis, along with the increasing danger (maybe likelihood) of war. A regional war in the middle east will be a WMD war, and eventually involve the “great powers”.

We are finally where the Democrats were always going to take us: poor, divided and confronted by the prospect of devastating conflict. Obama, Reid and Pelosi were the major figures in this mess, but lots of minor figures played a role, people like John Kerry and Samantha Power.

Thanks Democrats.

Saudi nuclear weapons ‘on order’ from Pakistan

Yeah, this is going to end well.

BallisticBob on November 8, 2013 at 10:18 AM

The lazy stupid bastard is looking for a second Nobel Peace Prize by brokering a deal. Doesn’t matter what it costs or what it does so long as there is an “agreement.”

One traitor to the USA sending another traitor to the USA to negotiate with terrorists who have pledged the death of the USA.

Long before a nuclear deal was in reach, the U.S. was quietly lifting some of the financial pressure on Iran, a Daily Beast investigation reveals

This is what the electorate voted for… twice.

We need to go back to a system where a much smaller percentage of the populace votes.

fogw on November 8, 2013 at 10:28 AM

May God have your back, Mr. Netanyahu. I apologize for the miscreants that you have to deal with. Both from Iran and the United States.

22044 on November 8, 2013 at 10:28 AM

Obama may not be “Arab,” as the infamous woman who confronted John McCain stated. But he is indeed an “Arabist,” the term for a (generally European) foreigner who is entranced by and devoted to the Arab narrative. Yes, yes, I know Iranians are not Arabs, but the term “Arabist” is itself inaccurate, and just means someone who prefers Middle Eastern culture, the Middle Eastern narrative, and Middle Eastern interests over those of his own.

In other words, Obama is pro-Iran. The problem is, he can’t admit this in public, because it violates US policy. So instead he does backroom deals giving Iran everything it wants.

And we already know from the suppressed LATimes tape, and from his actions and history, that Obama hates Israel.

The goal of this “deal” is not to broker peace but to enable Iran to exterminate Jew and wipe Israel off the map. Netanyahu knows this, but he too can’t say it publicly.

Just like Supreme Court appointment, things Obama does now — like allowing Iran to get nuclear weapons — will have consequences far after his remain three years are up. Disastrous consequences.

22044 on November 8, 2013 at 10:41 AM

This deal makes the ‘deal’ that Neville Chamberlain achieved with Adolf Hitler at Munich in 1938 look like a complete win.

Iran get’s what it wants, and it’s quite clear that they will not halt their efforts to build a nuclear weapon. That is something that they have covertly been trying to do for years – and this so called deal will not stop those efforts to assert the Islamic theocracy / thugocracy as a global power and member of the nuclear club.

The result of this ‘deal’ will cause the Saudi’s to buy nuclear weapons from Pakistan and significantly increase not only the turmoil in the region, but bring the region closer to a regional nuclear war with Israel the primary target.

Appeasement NEVER EVER works.

But when the leadership of this country find themselves having more in common with our enemies, we get deals like this.

RebeccaH on November 8, 2013 at 10:54 AM

The Iranians are hurting economically at a time when they are spending billions to prop up Assad. Therefore Obama has to relax the sanctions, which I don’t think he can do constitutionally since the sanctions came from congress, over the objections of Obama IIRC. Not that has ever stopped him.

Rancher on November 8, 2013 at 11:47 AM

pwb you hit it on the head. It is classic irony that a wonderful people (Israelis) and a wonderful leader (Netanyahu)are being destroyed by their first cousins–American Jews who did their part in re-electing this socialist bum.

If Israel gets nuked into Armageddon, all American Jews should wear pins captioned “WE DID OUR PART”.

MaiDee on November 8, 2013 at 11:52 AM

Uh oh. I just heard Obama told Netanyahu, “If you like your nukes, you can keep them.” …

bobcalco on November 8, 2013 at 12:03 PM

Israel should once again strongly declare Jerusalem, all of it, their official capital and finally force other nations to recognize it by ordering embassies in Tel Aviv moved or permanently closed. They should make it their official position that no other nations hold any rights or claims to Jerusalem. They should also reclaim the Temple Mount.

I can think of many other plausible actions they can undertake should this dangerous and unwise agreement with Iran take place.

Marcus Traianus on November 8, 2013 at 12:38 PM

Congress would have to OK anything that comes out of this right?
