Debbie Wasserman-Schultz: Nothing Obama and I have said about ObamaCare is untrue

posted at 4:01 pm on November 5, 2013 by Allahpundit

Via Greg Hengler, a perfect follow-up to Obama’s revisionism last night. Three points. One: What’s the word she utters at around 1:10? Is she … trying to say “misled”? I guess someone needs to tell the nominal head of one of America’s two major parties, who’s been a member of Congress for nearly 10 years, that “my-zeld” isn’t the correct pronunciation.

Two: She’s still pushing the idea that insurers are canceling plans en masse quasi-voluntarily rather than doing it because (a) the law now requires that every plan feature a menu of certain “essential benefits” and (b) HHS wrote the regulations on grandfathered plans exceptionally narrowly in order to maximize the number of plans that would be disqualified. And they did that, of course, because the more middle-class people there are who’ve been forced into more expensive plans, the more money insurers will have to subsidize coverage for the sick and poor. The goal was redistribution, as other Democrats are slowly beginning to acknowledge. Too bad Wasserman-Schultz can’t, preferring to pawn this all off instead on Obama’s pals/partners/scapegoats in the insurance industry.

Three: Contra Debbie, signing up via the ObamaCare website doesn’t “arguably” need to be easier. It needs to be easier. That’s why Obama called in outsiders for a “tech surge,” see? Imagine how zombified you’d need to be in your recitation of partisan spin to say that the Healthcare.gov Chernobyl “arguably” could stand some improvement. It’s like saying the Titanic arguably should have been more buoyant. In fact, thanks in part to the website catastrophe, we’re already getting closer to an iceberg we might not be able to avoid:

Insurers say the early buyers of health coverage on the nation’s troubled new websites are older than expected so far, raising early concerns about the economics of the insurance marketplaces.

If the trend continues, an older, more expensive set of customers could drive up prices for everyone, the insurers say, by forcing them to spread their costs around. “We need a broad range of people to make this work, and we’re not seeing that right now,” said Heather Thiltgen of Medical Mutual of Ohio, the state’s largest insurer by individual customers. “We’re seeing the population skewing older.”…

In states that are running their own marketplaces and have seen smoother rollouts, officials are now also reporting a similar phenomenon, suggesting the economics of the law play a role, too. In Connecticut and Kentucky, which have enrolled more than 4,000 people each in private health plans so far, the largest segments of enrollees in new commercial health-law plans are over age 55, much older than industry actuaries say they had anticipated…

The law includes provisions to ease the risks insurers face. For instance, federal funds will reimburse insurers for certain losses if they underestimate costs. But, actuaries say if the overall pool of customers is significantly older than expected, those provisions may not be enough to protect insurers against losses.

Is a bailout coming? Too early to know yet but the October enrollment numbers, presumably with lots of key demographic data, are set to be released by HHS next week. How many are old people, how many are Medicaid enrollees, and how many are actually the “young invincibles” on whom the fate of the law depends? Whatever the answer, rest assured: Debbie Wasserman-Schultz will be thrilled with the results.

No one says “myzeled” instead of “misled”, no matter how fast they are trying to speak. (at about 1:11 in the video)

However, someone hurriedly READING a prompter might make that error.

I think this is pretty close to a demonstration that guest mouthpieces on MSLSD, rather than speaking extemporaneously, are reading off of prompters. Just to make sure that they deliver the carefully focus-grouped message. Just more of the stagecraft that passes for governance.

Plans change in minor ways all the time, so essentially all plans are going to change. Any notion that you would be able to keep your plan if it couldn’t change even an iota is just absurd. In addition I’m hearing that by law all plans must change by Jan 1st. So there’s now possible way that you could keep your plan, because the plans are required to change because of Obamacare, and the Obamacare says that if your plans changes in even the most incidental of ways, you can’t keep it. And what about “you can keep your plan, period, no matter what.” ??

My theory is that it’s some kind of glitch.

Putting that little flub aside, though, our favorite liberal spin-bot has performed almost flawlessly. Other than this, the only real problem with her programming is the frequent recursive loops she gets stuck in with her talking points.

Obama could have (and has) done far worse than her. Not to mention, it didn’t take $100 million to program her.

“FOX News reported:

Experiencing sticker-shock at the price of insurance on ObamaCare exchanges?

That’s more likely if you live in a “red state” that didn’t vote for Obama, according to price data compiled by the Heritage Foundation. In red states, premiums for 27-year-olds rose an average of 78% on ObamaCare exchanges, whereas in “blue states” that voted for Obama, premiums rose a smaller 50%.

Senate critics of ObamaCare say the difference is one way in which the bill is unfair.

“It’s unfair, outrageous and unacceptable,” Senator John Barrasso, R-Wyo., who is also an orthopedic surgeon, said in a statement to FoxNews.com.

“After discovering that the President broke his promise that Americans can definitely keep their coverage, many red state Americans are now finding out that their rates will soar under ObamaCare. This… proves once again that the President’s health care law picks winners and losers across the country,” he added.

Health policy experts say the reason red states got hit hardest is that they had fewer regulations to begin with…”

Connecticut insurance rates, for years, have been through the roof. Since 2006, for example, all insurance rates here have been boosted because we are all required to pay for coverage for something as expensive IVF, as well as other expensive procedures, which many don’t require. It’s a state insurance LAW. No insurance policy in CT can be sold without this…and it doesn’t come cheap. This is just one example of what we have been paying, so Obamacare may actually seem a good buy to Connecticutians.

My guess is the Obamacare rates are probably lower than the former crazy CT rates, so it may well be pre Medicare, older people are trying to sign up in droves.

happytobehere on November 5, 2013 at 4:41 PM

Maybe she has her talking points in front of her on an internal display (like in terminator). Usually, her pronunciation is fine, but her programmers (who, credit where it’s due, are quite good) have been called away to fix healthcare.gov, so some new guys had to come in and do maintenance and screwed something up with her pronunciation guide.

Actually, though, that seems less likely. As bizarre as it is, it’s a one-off thing, which probably means it isn’t the programmers’ fault at all, but the writers/editors of her script. Someone forgot to run spell-check – the “z” is close to “s” on the keyboard, so someone must have typed “mizled”. Though really, if her algorithm were more sophisticated, it would run its own spell-check. Even my iphone autocorrect, which is otherwise pretty bad (is it my imagination, or has it bottom worse in recent months, maybe when ios7 came out?), guessed that “mizled” meant “misled”.

One more possibility, which admittedly is kind of cynical but would make a lot of sense; the designers hard-wired her with a special over-ride for using words like “misled”, “lied”, “failed”, etc, when describing democratic behavior, even in the context of a denial – don’t want to let such an idea into the public discourse, even as a hypothetical. If an ordinary scriptwriter inadvertently puts one of those words in the script, the override kicks in and forces her to mispronounce. It’s such a simple and fundamental part of her program that it can’t risk searching some database for a more appropriate phrase – best to just automatically send an “abort” signal directly to the vocal hardware.

“Don’t tell me words don’t matter! ‘I have a dream.’ Just words. ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.’ Just words! [Applause.] ‘We have nothing to fear but fear itself.’ Just words–just speeches!”

–Barack Obama, 16 February 2008

Just words–just speeches!

“That means that no matter how we reform health care, we will keep this promise to the American people: If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor, period. If you like your health care plan, you’ll be able to keep your health care plan, period. No one will take it away, no matter what.”

– President Barack Obama, 15 June 2009

Just words–just speeches!

Here are the details that every American needs to know about this plan. First, if you are among the hundreds of millions of Americans who already have health insurance through your job, or Medicare, or Medicaid, or the VA, nothing in this plan will require you or your employer to change the coverage or the doctor you have. Let me repeat this: Nothing in our plan requires you to change what you have.

- President Barack Obama, 9 September 2009

Just words–just speeches!

‘Actually, ANY insurance that you currently have would be grandfathered in so you could keep it. So you could decide not to get in the exchange the better plan. I could keep my Acme Insurance, just a high deductible catastrophic plan. I would not be required to get the better one.’

- President Barack Obama, 25 February 2010

Just words–just speeches!

“If you like your doctor, you’re going to be able to keep your doctor. If you like your plan, keep your plan. I don’t believe we should give government or the insurance companies more control over health care in America. I think it’s time to give you, the American people, more control over your health.”

- President Barack Obama, 19 March 2010

Just words–just speeches!

“And if you like your insurance plan, you will keep it. No one will be able to take that away from you. It hasn’t happened yet. It won’t happen in the future.”

– President Barack Obama, 1 April 2010

Just words–just speeches!

‘And let me tell you exactly what Obamacare did. Number one, if you’ve got health insurance it doesn’t mean a Government takeover. You keep your own insurance. You keep your own doctor. But it does say insurance companies can’t jerk you around. They can’t impose arbitrary lifetime limits. They have to let you keep your kid on their insurance—your insurance plan until you’re 26 years old. And it also says that you’re going to have to get rebates if insurance companies are spending more on administrative costs and profits than they are on actual care.’

- President Barack Obama, 4 October 2012

Just words–just speeches!

“Now, let’s start with the fact that even before the Affordable Care Act fully takes effect, about 85 percent of Americans already have health insurance -– either through their job, or through Medicare, or through the individual market. So if you’re one of these folks, it’s reasonable that you might worry whether health care reform is going to create changes that are a problem for you — especially when you’re bombarded with all sorts of fear-mongering. So the first thing you need to know is this: If you already have health care, you don’t have to do anything.”

I’ve said it before and it is still true: Debbie has a face like a bulldog chewing a wasp and a mind as sharp as a pound of wet leather. My-zzled – rhymes with – lie-zzled. This pickle faced heifer wouldn’t know the truth if it were tattooed on her eyeballs. “…Nothing any Democrat said about ACA was untrue”. No, Deb, EVERYTHING the Dems said about it was untrue; ergo, a LIE.

ghostwalker1 on November 5, 2013 at 4:59 PM

Pathological liars keep lying long after their lies are exposed. It’s all they know how to do. So, of course she lies about the lies she’s already said. This should not be surprising to anyone.

Chris of Rights on November 5, 2013 at 5:04 PM

Obama is a damn lyer, and this bitch is a lyer. They both are nothing but scmu of the earth lowlifes.

Proof positive that Debbie Wasserman-Schultz is an idiot:

Someone keeps telling her that home perm looks good, and she keeps believing them.

Can’t bring myself to watch her – even for “my-zeld”

Ann on November 5, 2013 at 5:13 PM

Seriously, is she reading a Teleprompter? I mean, it’s pretty clear that she is… So when did she get these questions, and why is she getting the questions ahead of time?

Oh, it’s MSNBC, of course she is getting the questions ahead of time.

d1carter on November 5, 2013 at 4:07 PM

It’s Yiddish for “I’m a lying biotch.”

Drunk?

slickwillie2001 on November 5, 2013 at 5:26 PM

The State Run Media has taught these thugs that the will be no repercussions for their lies…why stop now? But this one is so frantic it’s funny.

d1carter on November 5, 2013 at 4:10 PM

Don’t forget Hollywood, they’ve recruited them to insert their propaganda into sitcoms.

Disturbing

Schadenfreude on November 5, 2013 at 4:25 PM

Disturbing is an understatement! Snowden may have been able to choose another path, but he has done the people of this country a great favor by his revelations! Congress has a lot of work to do!
