Feinstein: Hey, you could have kept your plan … until we enacted ObamaCare

posted at 8:01 am on November 4, 2013 by Ed Morrissey

Sen. Dianne Feinstein appeared on CBS’ Face the Nation yesterday in part to face the music.  Bob Schieffer led off this portion of her appearance by noting that the Obama administration has failed to deliver on many promises of ObamaCare, not the least of which was “if you like your plan, you can keep your plan.” Feinstein tries to explain that the promise was true … up until the bill passed.

No, seriously (via Eliana Johnson at The Corner):

SCHIEFFER: The president said in the beginning that one thing was that if you liked the health care program you had, you could keep it. We now know there was debate within the administration before he said that as to whether that was actually a promise that could be kept. Should the president not have made that statement?

FEINSTEIN: Well, as I understand it, you can keep it up to the time — and I hope this is correct, but this is what I’ve been told — up to the time the bill was enacted, and after that, it’s a different story.  That part of it, if true, was never made clear.

So let’s get this straight.  The promise made by Barack Obama from 2007 forward all the way through the 2012 election, made dozens if not hundreds of times in those five years, meant that you could keep the plan you liked only if we never enacted the reform he proposed? I’ve heard some pretty fanciful spin on the “keep your plan” promise, but that really does take the cake.  “Never made clear,” indeed.

Here’s another question for Senator Feinstein. You voted for this bill and helped push it through Congress with zero Republican votes.  Why is it only now that we find out that you had no idea how this bill, drafted in the Senate by senior Democratic leadership, would impact Americans who liked the insurance they already had? Why did it take Senator Feinstein, a senior member of Democratic leadership on Capitol Hill herself, more than three and a half years to figure this out — and not even to a certainty, if one is to believe this spin cycle yesterday on CBS News?

“The same portal is used to determine eligibility no matter how the application is submitted (paper, online),” reads a Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight memo from Oct. 11.

“The paper applications allow people to feel like they are moving forward in the process and provides another option,” it says. “At the end of the day, we are all stuck in the same queue.”

So, she’s saying that she hope’s it’s correct that you will lose your insurance. She wants desperately ill people to succumb to there disease and die. Evil.

I know, of course, that was not the thought uppermost in her mind. But that just makes it worse. She’s managing the process, listening to her worker bees, making sure all the bureaucratic niceties are observed. People will die as she enjoys a luxurious life, and she’s clueless enough to be oblivious to the situation.

Hey you can’t spell Feinstein without Einstein.

But seriously, I’m sick of the comments that those dumped from the policies they like are getting “better” insurance as a result, even if it costs thousands of dollars more. It may be more comprehensive but if you don’t need the covered services and benefits because of your age, gender, or health then it isn’t “better” just more expensive so some parasite can get “free” pregnancies, PAP smears, or alcohol rehab. Better for them but not the actual payers.

And BTW, the HA moderators have made this claim in the past too. We need to call them and everybody else on this fact. More comprehensive is not automatically “better” insurance.

Diane Feinstein is not saying this because she’s a fool. She’s saying it because she’s pure evil. This is not a situation where honest people may differ. This is a complete power grab by big government scum like Feinstein. She knows she’s lying, she knew she was lying before. She doesn’t care, because it gets her power. This wasn’t an honest attempt on their part. They didn’t spend 3 1/2 years working really hard trying to build something good. They simply lied and threw a bunch of crap together, knowing full well it would fail, and are now lying about it again. They all admit they didn’t bother reading it. Again, they didn’t even bother to read it. Feinstein and her ilk are very dangerous and a real threat to your liberty, playing nice with them serves no purpose.

This disaster has IMHO answered one of the questions questions here at HA.

First: Where are the trolls?
If there was ever a time when the other side needed to make their point, this is it. IMO by observation is they have finally been exposed to something that even they can’t defend.

Which leads to another point: are they paid mouthpieces of the Obama administration. Apparently not. If they were, they’d be here in full force regurgitating talking points.

The final question: will they start questioning the wisdom of their leaders like we here have? I seriously don’t think so. The mold of the Democrat party is made up of a hive mentality, where the good of the whole is more important than the good of the individual, and the belief that there are individuals in a ruling class that can make better decisions than we can for ourselves.

Given this, they will retreat to the comfort of their coffee shops and sulk behind their latte’, waiting for better word to come post here.

But listen up trolls; we’ll be waiting.

Yeah….Liberal Senators from California all look and sound alike to me…

Thanks.

oops, missed the best line from that song -

“…livin’ in a world of make believe …”

yeah, that pretty much sums up the process that gave us OCare.

FEINSTEIN: Well, as I understand it, you can keep it up to the time — and I hope this is correct, but this is what I’ve been told — up to the time the bill was enacted, and after that, it’s a different story. That part of it, if true, was never made clear.

Did Feinstein leave herself enough wiggle room?

Let me see if I understand.

She’s saying that maybe she knows what’s in the law, but she’s not really sure, so she might know what she’s talking about but can’t actually say with any certainty that she knows much of anything.

Did I get that right?

I had them both as my senators for 13 years until I shook the CA dust off my heels. They are both very different animals…

I’ll concede to your experience

Glad you made it out of kookistan alive.

SO he lied and lied and lied.

Maybe he meant that people with employer provided insurance could keep theirs….but then why delay that when this steaming turd of lie for individuals is sitting there? Maybe its a lie in that case as well…maybe he is hoping that we will all feel bad about the new people who have just gotten health care that we won’t be able to morally roll back the cahnges when th employer market starts cancelling policies. Maybe, maybe.

But what happens when we find out that “there is no such thing as death panels…Sarah Palin is an idiot!” is also a lie? WHat happens then?
