Video: White House intimidating insurers into staying quiet on the ObamaCare debacle?

It could be worse, as Audrey Hudson can tell you.  All these insurers are getting are phone calls, not raids by the Maryland State Police seizing their notes on government malfeasance.  CNN’s Anderson Cooper reports that the insurers want to get the real story out about why millions of people will have their policies cancelled, and how they tried to warn HHS of this unnecessary outcome.  For now, they’re outsourcing the job to Robert Laszewski (via Daniel Halper):

“What is going on is, behind the scenes attempt by the White House to at least keep insurerers from publicly criticizing what is happening on this Affordable Care Act rollout. Basically, if you speak out, if you are quoted, you’re going to get a call from the White House, pressure to be quiet,” reports CNN.

“Several sources tell me and my colleague Chris Frates that insurance executives are being told to keep quiet. [The head of] a consulting firm for big insurance and an out spoken critic of Obamacare says he is getting calls from these executives who want him to speak out, Anderson, for them about the problems because they feel defenseless against the White House PR team. … the White House is exerting massive pressure on the industry, including the trade associations, to keep quiet. Sources telling us they fear White House retribution.”

Why are they so intimidated? Because the federal government is their biggest customer.  If that doesn’t point out the issues of crony capitalism and transparency on the uses and abuses of power, I’d hate to have to experience a clearer one.

By the way, I’ll have Audrey Hudson on my show this afternoon to give TEMS viewers a first-person perpective on real intimidation.  Maybe a few of these executives can watch and find their intestinal fortitude.

My condolences, Todd. I lost my dad in ’90, and he was a Navy Corpsman, who made beachheads in the Marshall Islands, Guam, Saipan, Leyte, Luzon and Iwo Jima. On Iwo, he was still only 19. I adored him … so much so … in fact, that the possibility of his death was incomprehensible. I think that I was in shock for at least 2 months. I’d cry at the drop of a hat.

We’ll see them again.

Well, Bob Beckel, FNC uber-liberal blowhard, reported that asking for a delay in the individual mandate, a WH official contacted him and ‘bludgeoned’ him over making that comment.

That this WH has resorted to throwing it’s weight around, to the point of probably criminal abuse of it’s power (see IRS actions vs Tea Party organizations), I would not be surprised one bit if insurance companies were getting pressure (and threats) to keep them from bailing on the exchanges under the material breach clause.

That’s SOP, the Chicago way, normal business for this collection of community organizers, fascists, and jacobins.

The President should set the tone for the way the federal government operates. This President hasn’t done that. He still has three more years in office to get it right, perhaps even to propose some radical changes in the work rules governing federal employment. He could even force DOD and VA to agree on the unified electronic records system that he promised.

Otherwise, there is a danger that the Obama Administration will be remembered as not even good enough for government work.

Right before our eyes, Obama is nationalizing our healthcare, the insurance industry, the banking industry, and the car industry. Then, as if this is not enough, he is basically opening our borders. When Mrs. Sebelius says the insurers are getting incomplete or bad data from the data hub, I think it is flaws in the math, the subsidies, and calculating the premiums not matching up with what the insurers expect from their own tables. The data hub “works” she says …but it is slow.

I would like to know what the incorrect data is.

That’s what the insurance companies are doing, going to do, did already [pick one].

These are the same people who have been living large off government mandates since the first fire codes were enacted. We have always been saddled with local tyrants and State thugs, violating the constitution at will (Jerry Brown signing “strictest set of gun control laws” in US – SFGate).

Obama’s novelty is he wants to expand State tyrannies to the Federal level.
