Video: Hillary Clinton heckled in Buffalo

posted at 10:41 am on October 24, 2013 by Ed Morrissey

Hillary Clinton continued her post-retirement speaking tour in Buffalo last night, but it didn’t go undisturbed. A heckler began yelling in the middle of her speech, shouting “Benghazi! Benghazi! You let them die!” Clinton responded by insisting that issues need calm discussion, not yelling:

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was heckled about Benghazi Wednesday night during a speech at the University of Buffalo while discussing the need for members of Congress to work together more.

According to CBS affiliate WIVB-TV, a man in the audience stood up and yelled, “Benghazi, Benghazi, you let them die,” a reference to the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya in 2012 while Clinton was secretary of state.

“We have to be willing to come together as citizens to focus on the kind of future we want which doesn’t include yelling, it includes sitting down and talking with one another,” Clinton responded, which earned her a standing ovation from the crowd.

I seem to recall when Congress asked Hillary Clinton to sit down and tell them the truth about what happened in Benghazi that her reaction didn’t exactly follow her own advice:

Actually, I agree with Hillary Clinton on this point.  Heckling doesn’t do much good, as I noted when hecklers tried interrupting Ted Cruz earlier this month; they only make the speaker look better and the cause of the hecklers look more petty.  That’s why Hillary Clinton should appear under oath at the House Oversight Committee hearings into Benghazi to provide serious answers as to why the State Department ignored months of warnings about the security situation in Benghazi as all our Western allies left the city, leaving the facility unprepared on the anniversary of 9/11 in an area where al-Qaeda and its allies operated openly.  She can also come together with Oversight and talk with them about what was going on in the White House during the attack, and how she and the President decided to blame a YouTube video when State, the Pentagon, and the CIA knew within hours that it was a well-planned terrorist attack.

Four Americans died because State didn’t act to protect them when they had months of opportunities to do so, and not one State Department employee has lost a single paycheck for that failure. We can sit down and talk about that too, Secretary Clinton.

Update: Joel Pollak and I are on the same page, which is always a comforting thought.

ctually, I agree with Hillary Clinton on this point. Heckling doesn’t do much good, as I noted when hecklers tried interrupting Ted Cruz earlier this month; they only make the speaker look better and the cause of the hecklers look more petty.

Ted Cruz has the truth and quick feet on his side. Hillary Clinton is an educated dufus and heckling draws attention to something that most people aren’t aware of. I know, I know, it’s been in the news for a long time. People still aren’t aware of it. I’m not sure on balance that it makes her look better.

Ogabe and Hillary should both be forced to resign for their gross and willful neglect of duty that allowed four Americans to be murdered and dragged thru the streets.

When we had a free and independent press this administration could not have survived Benghazi. The electorate has been dumbed down to the point that this is the governing that we deserve.

Actually in this case I disagree that heckling is bad. Since the media refuses to cover her shameful inaction in Benghazi someone needs to keep this in the public eye. Firstly because the story needs to be kept out there and secondly because she needs to be made as uncomfortable as possible regarding Benghazi. More of this please!

Actually, I agree with Hillary Clinton on this point.

Oy. Are you friggin serious?

Heckling doesn’t do much good, as I noted when hecklers tried interrupting Ted Cruz earlier this month; they only make the speaker look better and the cause of the hecklers look more petty.

LOL.

Not all hecklers are the same. It depends on what the heckler is trying to say. Shrillary deserves to be heckled every time she tries to open her fat, lying mouth in public. In a perfect world, she would be heckled until she stops showing her face in public.

Heckling about serious problems serves a very important function. People like Shrillary should have the sense of shame to never appear in public and never lecture anyone about anything. She needs to be heckled. To compare heckling Shrillary over Benghazi to heckling Cruz is moronic.

We need some serious heckling of these idiots and traitors to shame them from the public stage. The worst thing that has happened in this society is that people do the dumbest things, display total ineptitude and incompetence, perform clearly criminal and treasonous acts and then they keep appearing in public and lecturing people on competence and morality. They have no shame and we need an army of hecklers to shame them into a closet.

Idiots and criminals have no right to be able to lecture anyone unmolested. Get a brain, man.

they only make the speaker look better and the cause of the hecklers look more petty.

Are you actually suggesting that “heckling” Hillary on Benghazi diminishes the whole issue? That the four deaths (cause still undisclosed), nefarious CIA operations, lax security on the eve of the 9/11 anniversary, and a string of lies about YouTube videos and spontaneous protests are all somehow smaller becuase a guy gets up and screams “Benghazi! Benghazi! You let them die!” ?

I can see your point as when the illegals got up to scream at Cruz about immigration reform. But Benghazi? If that is all it takes to make an issue go away, Obama is soon going to be planting an entire chorus of people to scream about HealthCare.gov during town hall events.

“Benghazi” is obviously an effective line of questioning.

The issue was clearly anticipated by Hillary and thrown into the Democrats maxim “if one “heckles”, that is, if one dares to question elected officials and hold them accountable in public by expressing their free-speech rights because people such as Hillary have obfuscated, demurred and otherwise avoided any other “civilized” forum for “discussion” of the truth, we need a “calm discussion”, which we never have, and has been avoided to this point.

Ultimately, Hillary will have her “discussion” in a preplanned, scripted conversation with a supportive propagandist journalist.

We will never forget our four countrymen that you abandoned Hillary. A person of such poor judgment and lacking in principle is NOT a leader, they are a self-serving coward.

On September 12th they were out there with stories of Libyians rushing Christopher Stevens to the hospital and defending the consulate from a spontaneous protest. They attributed the cause of it all to a YouTube video. A lie they were still telling through a full Ginsberg of Sunday shows, a $100K ad campaign, and a speech at the United Nations. Obama was voted into office because of white
guilt, those tired of being called racist, thinking that voting in the first black president would set everything right.

I can practically guarantee that women will now vote for Hillary
because it is time for a female president. And if Whitewater and
Travelgate, etc. didn’t matter, neither will Benghazi.

I predict women will flock to her campaign along with the gays.
I don’t think there is anyone else in the democratic party who has a chance. Hillary has already been anointed as the candidate.

Conservatives had better put up a much smarter candidate who will
not be shy about facing her on the issues, making her head spin with their command of the facts. And there is not a female in the repub party who can match wits with her. Don’t bring up Sarah Palin, Kelly Ayotte, Martinez, etc. None of them will succeed in that role. I am thinking Ted Cruz or Rand Paul right now. Someone
who won’t back down from conservative principles. Someone who has the smarts to lay out the facts. Someone who can call out her socialist agenda and failings in Bengahzi and the state depart in
general. Someone who is not perceived as an attack dog, however,
one who has command of the issues, a plan for solving this country’s many issues and a calm demeanor.
