New fundraising e-mail from Alan Grayson: You can’t spell “tea party” without a burning cross

posted at 2:41 pm on October 22, 2013 by Allahpundit

Fun fact: So unhinged has this guy been over the years in his criticism of political opponents that he was once accused of being “one fry short of a Happy Meal” by … Anthony Weiner. During his first stint in Congress, he called one of Ben Bernanke’s female advisors a “K Street whore,” sneered that Fox News was an enemy of America, said that letting Republicans control government is like letting Al Qaeda fly planes (he digs terrorism analogies), and most famously accused the GOP of wanting people to die quickly because they opposed the surefire, can’t-miss, liberal technocratic dreamscape of ObamaCare. In spite of it all — or rather, because of it all — he got reelected last year. And now, via David Freddoso, this:

The newsy part here isn’t that a sitting congressman would stoop to it. It’s par for the course for Grayson. The newsy part is that he chose to stick it in a fundraising e-mail to goose Democratic donors, which tells you where he thinks the party’s base is at. And he’s not the only sitting congressman to take a tack like this lately. Via Newsbusters, watch below as Steve Cohen casually reassures the MSNBC faithful that tea partiers are “domestic enemies” of the sort Cohen swore an oath to defend the Constitution against. Tom Friedman, while affirming that he doesn’t see the tea party as a terrorist group, nonetheless compared them to Hezbollah in his last column. Other lefties — all the way up to Rachel Maddow’s graphics department — have been having a renewed love affair with the concept of sedition over the past week in the wake of the government shutdown. It’s edifying to watch all of this play out side by side with concern-trolling about civility and bipartisanship as a solution to D.C.’s problems.

Update: Grayson’s not sorry, of course.

“Tea Party members have circulated countless altered pictures depicting President Obama and the First Lady as monkeys. Tea Party members also called my fellow Member of Congress, civil rights hero John Lewis, a ‘n***ger,’ and Rep. Barney Frank a ‘faggot,’” Grayson wrote verbatim in a written statement. “One could go on and on, because there is overwhelming evidence that the Tea Party is the home of bigotry and discrimination in America today, just as the KKK was for an earlier generation. If the shoe fits, wear it.”

The bit about racial epithets is, I believe, a reference to the incident outside the Capitol on the day ObamaCare was passed in 2010 in which some black Democrats claimed bystanders were shouting slurs at them. Andrew Breitbart offered $100,000 to anyone who could produce actual evidence that it happened. As of last December, the money was still unclaimed.

I keep waiting for the media to do their unbiased job. If we complain, we will be told we are whining.

Well he was right on Syria……..

I guess now he’s back to his effective branding of the Tea Party.

The Ruling Class (both parties) has declared open war on the Limited Government types.

So when we takeover the gop or start a second party we’ll have to re-brand under a new name.

Grayson and Cohen would raise all hell if they were referred to as ‘Kikes’!I guess they show themselves as the low-class punks they really are!! Typical libs!

It is so disheartening to watch the Democrats smear Conservatives and we just sit in the pasture chewing our cuds.

Of course they smear. We are impotent wimps with absolutely no come-back.

He’s playing the “racist!” card. Anti-racist is a codeword for anti-white.

What a total idiot Grayson is. Also those floridians who voted him back in to the house is just as bad as him.

Alan Grayson compares Tea Party to KKK: ‘If the hood fits, wear it’
By Arturo Garcia
Tuesday, October 22, 2013 20:43 EDT
***********************************

Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL) is not backing down about a flippant remark comparing Tea Party Republicans to the Ku Klux Klan into a fundraising message despite criticism from at least one opponent.

“Members of the Tea Party have engaged in relentless racist attacks against our African-American President,” Grayson said in a statement to WKMG-TV published on Tuesday. “There is overwhelming evidence that the Tea Party is the home of bigotry and discrimination in America today, just as the KKK was for an earlier generation. If the hood fits, wear it.”

Grayson’s latest fundraising email includes an image of a burning cross with the caption, “Now you know what the ‘T’ stands for” and a transcript of his interview on Monday with MSNBC host Al Sharpton, during which he stated that after the country lost $24 billion during the GOP-engineered government shutdown, Americans “want their money back, and the Tea Party out of their lives. At this point, the Tea Party is no more popular than the Klan.”

The message was quickly rejected by Tea Party members in Grayson’s region, including activist Jason Hoyt, who also insulted Sharpton.

“Alan Grayson is a disgrace to the United States Congress,” Hoyt told WKMG. “I’m confident his appearance on Al Sharpton’s show did nothing to change the minds of either of his television viewers.”

Republican Jorge Bonilla, who is running to unseat Grayson in 2014, also blasted him for invoking the image of the Klan, telling the Orlando Sentinel he found it “despicable and needlessly hurtful to the many millions of families that still deal with the wounds of racial prejudice. What’s worse, he does so for no other reason than to troll for donations for his re-election campaign.”

While Tea Party members have been caught using racially-inflammatory language and imagery on multiple occasions, Grayson offered specific examples in a separate interview with the Sentinel.

“When the president visited my home of Orlando, Tea Party protesters shouted ‘Kenyan Go Home,’” Grayson told the Sentinel. “Other examples include Tea Party chants of ‘Bye Bye Blackbird’ and Tea Party posters saying ‘Obama’s plan: White Slavery.’ One could go on and on, because there is overwhelming evidence that the Tea Party is the home of bigotry and discrimination in America today, just as the KKK was for an earlier generation.”

We found that diesel gives you that nice warm racist glow we all appreciate.

Diesel is expensive here and I don’t think I have ever encountered a racist around here. So #2 pine it is with a bit of starter. Thanks for nothing…

I cringe every time I realize that this POS is my rep. And I’ll say it again: I did NOT vote for him this past election or the one before that or the one before that. And I won’t be voting for him in the future. I’d rather vote for my neighbor’s dog. He makes more sense than Grayson does…the dog, not my neighbor.

Just to be clear I wouldn’t mind seeing all lying liberals done away with, but this is one guy that I really want to ram my fist through his face.

“One could go on and on, because there is overwhelming evidence that the Tea Party is the home of bigotry and discrimination in America today, just as the KKK was for an earlier generation. If the shoe fits, wear it.” That you would equate it with an organization that opposes any thing the KKK would hold true in the 60′s or today indicates you must be a “card carrying member.

Rep. Alan Grayson, just analyzing your rant above indicates you have a clear understanding and support of the guiding principals of the KKK. Please provide U.S. the position you hold in this esteemed organization
