MSNBC anchor to GOP rep: “Do you hate ObamaCare more than you love your country?”

posted at 3:21 pm on October 15, 2013 by Allahpundit

The correct response here in light of the dire consequences that might result from a few more weeks of Healthcare.gov Glitchapalooza is “Do you love ObamaCare more than you love your country?” Marsha Blackburn doesn’t say that, though, possibly because she was caught off-guard here — although why that is, I don’t know. She’s a GOP spokesman appearing on America’s most rancidly demagogic left-wing media outlet in the midst of a government shutdown. She’s lucky Roberts didn’t ask her if she enjoys watching children suffer. Maybe questions like the latter are reserved for the evening “opinion” bloc of MSNBC’s programming, not the “impartial” news reporting of the early afternoon.

Has anyone let him know, by the way, that House Republicans long ago dropped any major demands related to ObamaCare in ending the shutdown? All that was left as of this morning was small potatoes involving weak enforcement of the anti-fraud provisions in the law and repealing the medical-device tax. And even that’s apparently now off the table too:

There’s basically nothing left of the original “defund” agenda, but with the debt-ceiling deadline looming, it’s important to keep MSNBC viewers focused on the Narrative. I’ll leave you with this image of a future MSNBC guest from this afternoon’s OFA rally, which was attended by literally thousands ones of people:

MSNBC anchor to GOP rep: “Do you hate ObamaCare more than you love your country?”

I wonder if MSNBC would have asked a Dem rep back when social security reform was being floated if they hated that more than they love their country.

Course they would have said yes to to both. But still. Interesting thought.

Suer they will suffer, and suffering is the only way stupid people have an opportunity to learn. The problem is that Obamacare is creating the single greatest population control network in the history of the world. They have proven themselves to be lawless and capricious, and vengeful. Allowing them to control you and your families access to health care is not something I think many want to go through. The left proves time and time again that it does not understand cause and effect. They are incapable of associating the pain with the policies of the corrupt bastards they elect.

Ben Hur on October 15, 2013 at 3:39 PM

According to Lawrence Summers, who served as secretary of the treasury under Bill Clinton and director of the National Economic Council under Barack Obama, “Obama really doesn’t have the joy of the game. Clinton basically loved negotiating with a bunch of other pols, about anything. If you told him, God, we’ve got a problem. We’ve got to allocate all the office space in the Senate. If you could come spend some time talking to the majority leader in figuring out how to allocate office space in the Senate, Clinton would think that was pretty interesting and kind of fun. Whereas, Obama, he really didn’t like these guys.”

Vernon Jordan, a longtime Democratic Party wise man, agrees. “Consultation is not in the DNA of the Obama administration,” Jordan told me.

“Some time ago, while Obama was on vacation in Martha’s Vineyard, he invited me to join a foursome and play a round of golf at the Vineyard Golf Club in Edgartown. I was paired with the president’s assistant, Marvin Nicholson, and the president played with Mayor [Michael] Bloomberg, who at the time was being considered as a possible replacement for [Timothy] Geithner as secretary of the treasury. When the round of golf was over, the president immediately left. And Bloomberg turned to me and said, ‘I played four hours of golf with the president and he didn’t ask me a goddam thing.’”

“The Obama administration resembles the [Jimmy] Carter administration in being closed like that,” Vernon Jordan went on. “No matter how obstructive the Republicans may be, Obama has the responsibility of leadership. I’m worried that he’s overplaying his hand in saying that it’s all the Republicans’ fault. That may be true, but what are you, Mr. President, going to do to bring them around?”

At some level, Obama is aware of his own shortcomings.

For instance, shortly before he was scheduled to address the Business Roundtable, Jack Lew, then the director of the Office of Management and Budget, was asked if there was any subject the business leaders should not raise with the president. “Yes,” said Lew. “Don’t ask about leadership. He’s sensitive about the criticism that he hasn’t provided strong leadership.”

“The presidency is no place for amateurs,” Richard Neustadt pointed out in his landmark study, Presidential Power and the Modern Presidents. “[The office of the president needs] experienced politicians of extraordinary temperament. … That sort of expertise can hardly be acquired without deep experience in political office. The presidency is a place for men of politics. But by no means is it a place for every politician.”

It is no place for Barack Obama.

“Have you ever READ the Constitution?”

I’m beginning to be of the opinion that the best thing we could do is step back and allow the LEFT to try and roll this monstrosity “Obamacare” out and implement it.

It’s not even certain, at this point that there is enough time left in Obama’s presidency to get the leviathan up and running.

Even if they do get it running the financial cost to individuals will be untenable.

The harm, the pain, suffering and early death that this Frankenstein’s legislation will cause due to rationing and refusal of treatment, not to mention errors and waits for treatment, will have the LEFT demanding its destruction. Obama will have his ‘legacy’ and he can count it in dead and suffering Americans.

AP, you’ll love this:

Government Workers Union Boss Demands Obama Give Federal Employees Free Gas (along with free healthcare, utilities, public transportation, and allowing them to skip mortgage, rent, and car loan payments) During Shutdown…

A federal workers union is demanding that President Barack Obama declare the shutdown a national emergency and force businesses, hospitals, and schools to forgive workers’ bill payments until a deal is reached.

American Federation of Government Employees President J. David Cox sent a letter to Obama on Friday lamenting that the lengthy shutdown would hurt government workers. He proposed that the White House intervene to declare the shutdown a federal emergency, which would allow workers to collect zero-interest loans from FEMA and force businesses to extend lines of credit to employees.

“Mr. President, we ask that you … call upon the financial and business community to provide arrangements for skip mortgage payments, skip rent payments, skip car loan payments, skip education and other loan payments until this is all over [sic],” the letter states.

Cox also asks that federal workers receive free healthcare, gasoline, public transportation, and utilities until “their paychecks have been restored.”

thatsafactjack on October 15, 2013 at 3:47 PM

Sadly, I think not.

It will have the LEFT demanding that government step in and do something to fix it – single payer.

The LEFT doesn’t learn from mistakes – it doubles down on them. Pick a subject, any subject – where have their policies ‘worked’? You can point to multiple examples of them simply not working, and yet… they fight for them anyway.

I think one of the major shortcomings ‘the right’ has with understanding ‘the left’ is the same one that ‘the west’ has about understanding ‘terrorists’.

We expect that they think in a rational, civilized manner, as we do. They do and will not.

We’re constantly surprised when they behave in ways that are harmful to themselves, to their children, to their country, etc. We shouldn’t be.

Do not expect them to learn what we think would be a reasonable lesson to learn from the pain we all will endure – you will simply be surprised again when they learn a different – unimaginable, from your perspective – lesson, and demand exactly the opposite of what the solution is.

I know an insurance agent in Oregon getting calls from individuals through the “Cover Oregon” website. She says a amazing number are eligible for Medicare and didn’t know it (or just became eligible under ZeroCare). She refers them to the county health dept since there’s no money in it for her.
Of course Oregon took the Fed money to subsidize Medicare for three years, but what happens when that runs out? You KNOW it won’t be renewed. And for the individuals, doctors are leaving Medicare in droves. In the Oregon Eugene/Springfield area, the ONLY urology practice in the area stopped taking Medicare, meaning people with kidney/bladder/etc issues have to go at least an hour away.

Ask Native American’s on reservations about ‘single payer’. They’ll tell you ‘Don’t get sick after June… because there will be no money for treatment.’

Even the LEFT has to be able to understand that the NHS is a huge failure. That people are suffering and dying in the Britain now, not just from long waits for necessary treatment and denial of treatment, but by the thousands from rank neglect and abuse that occurs right in care facilities.

It’s willful ignorance that’s going to cause the delay between American’s getting Obamacare…realizing fully what a mistake it is… and then demanding the ‘fix’. Americans, particularly the young, don’t want to know the reality of doctor shortages, rationing, IPAB, etc. They prefer the dream of ‘universal health care’ and imagine that means quality care… rather than everyone having very poor and inadequate health care. They want to believe that what ever is wrong will somehow be fixed by the time they need it. Let’s hope, when the pain sets in, they’re self centered enough to demand a real fix… rather than doubling down on stupid with single payer.

So much for Constitutional separation of powers envisioned by the founders when a single faction seeks the repeal of passed legislation.

bayam on October 15, 2013 at 4:08 PM

So you were opposed to slavery being made illegal? After all, that was the Law of the Land too, and also was endorsed by SCOTUS.

Marriage between a man and a woman was passed legislation in Massachusetts; a single faction (the Democrats) simply got 3 Activist Judges who promptly overturned that passed legislation, thus overturning a legitimate election.

It’s part of that checks and balances stuff. You know, a bicameral Congress gets power of the purse. Just nod, if any of this sounds familiar to you.

Hmmmmm, “passed legislation” – like say slavery, prohibition, Jim Crow laws, the Patriot Act, Defense of Marrige Act – “passed laws” like those, right?
So you’re saying NO law that is “passed” can or should ever be repealed, no matter how bad it proves to be?

dentarthurdent on October 15, 2013 at 4:21 PM

Stupid question.
Stupid answer.

Why does Blackburn bother…she has nothing to offer.
“We didn’t want this shutdown, good golly schucks, no.” She can try that ’til she’s blue in the face, but it’s not selling.

GOP has lost here.
And lost it.
And now to please a few, they are desperately trying to cobble something together that includes something that merely affirms their personal animosity towards one man.
Despite the last 5 years, it’s still almost shocking to watch.

verbaluce on October 15, 2013 at 4:21 PM

Thanks to the GOP, it will soon by a country that no longer controls the single reserve currency in the world, as foreign countries seek to permanently diversify from the dollar.
bayam on October 15, 2013 at 4:01 PM

Fascinating… Because that’s exactly what progressives demanded although the Bush years to stop American Imperialism (so-called)

Your crocodile tears don’t serve you well.

There’s a great reckoning coming in this nation. The LEFT has abused its position of power and in so doing has abused the trust of the American people.

Many, even those moderates and centrists on the left, are weary of the abuses and liberties taken with the law, and more importantly, with the rule of law, by the LEFT.

The LEFT has wondered publicly often at the great gaps in its coming to power in this land. Perhaps they should look at history and learn from it… instead of desperately trying to revise it.

The LEFT proceeds at its own peril.

Despite the last 5 years of my Democrat Party refusing to present a budget as required by federal law, it’s still almost shocking to watch.

You’re late, by the way. Second shift for OFA started almost 90 minutes ago.

No, it gets worse…

“States across the country are being told to stop the supplemental nutrition assistance program for the month of November, pending further notice.”

… Anybody see the fine behavior of our fellow citizens when their EBT cards were turned off for a couple hours the other day?

Of course, the TEA Party and the GOP will be to blame…

Then the fun begins…

But of course, separation of powers is maintained when Obama simply ignores Congress and does as he pleases to overrule them, with jackass brayam cheering him on.

Let us be blunt, braying jackass brayam. There is NOTHING that Congress can do that you will consider “constitutional” if it in any way contradicts what Barack Obama wants. You want a dictatorship in all but name, which is why you and your fellow proggies are now shrieking that dissent is treason and sedition.

You are a malignant liar, brayam. Shrillary Clinton is now going to have slapped in her face how she shrieked that dissent was patriotism one year, then screamed it was treason and sedition the next. People realize that you, like your Barack Obama, are a malignant and vicious liar who will say and do anything to get power.

And we are sick of it. You need to think long and hard about provoking a revolution, you bigoted idiot.

LOL.

Is that why your delusional crying brat Obama is having to threaten to cut off food stamps?

Please. Go ahead. Spin for us. Show how desperate you and your fellow puppets are to deflect, deny, get away from the abject failure that your racist bigot Obama has created.

MSNBC anchor to GOP rep: “Do you hate ObamaCare more than you love your country?”

BarkyCare is totally un-Constitutional and thoroughly un-American. BarkyCare is the death of America as it has been defined as our Constitutional Republic. BarkyCare is anti-Americanism through and through, so hating BarkyCare is part and parcel of loving the American Constitutional Republic.

Of course, MSNBC and the leftists are haters of the American Constitutional Republic and lovers of the American Socialist Superstate which is why I want a national divorce. Those lowlifes can stay in their A.S.S. I want nothing to do with them, at all. I share nothing with them and want no association with them. They are the lowest forms of existence.

ThePrimordialOrderedPair on October 15, 2013 at 4:31 PM

Speaking of “hate…”

Several dozen U.S. Army active duty and reserve troops were told last week that the American Family Association, a well-respected Christian ministry, should be classified as a domestic hate group because the group advocates for traditional family values.

I mean, where’d the Army get that idea?
