MSNBC anchor to GOP rep: “Do you hate ObamaCare more than you love your country?”

posted at 3:21 pm on October 15, 2013 by Allahpundit

The correct response here in light of the dire consequences that might result from a few more weeks of Healthcare.gov Glitchapalooza is “Do you love ObamaCare more than you love your country?” Marsha Blackburn doesn’t say that, though, possibly because she was caught off-guard here — although why that is, I don’t know. She’s a GOP spokesman appearing on America’s most rancidly demagogic left-wing media outlet in the midst of a government shutdown. She’s lucky Roberts didn’t ask her if she enjoys watching children suffer. Maybe questions like the latter are reserved for the evening “opinion” bloc of MSNBC’s programming, not the “impartial” news reporting of the early afternoon.

Has anyone let him know, by the way, that House Republicans long ago dropped any major demands related to ObamaCare in ending the shutdown? All that was left as of this morning was small potatoes involving weak enforcement of the anti-fraud provisions in the law and repealing the medical-device tax. And even that’s apparently now off the table too:

There’s basically nothing left of the original “defund” agenda, but with the debt-ceiling deadline looming, it’s important to keep MSNBC viewers focused on the Narrative. I’ll leave you with this image of a future MSNBC guest from this afternoon’s OFA rally, which was attended by literally thousands ones of people:

Haven’t you heard, those on reservations are more concerned with the name of the Redskins. Food, healthcare, jobs and quality of life are of little consequence when there is a PC battle being fought by white elitists on your behalf because you are just too stupid to know that you should be offended.

The O’bama Cult Members all ignore the fact that O’bama’s mother was white, and that he was raised by her and by her equally white mother. And O’bama’s white mom was born in Kansas! As lily-white as it gets. Flyover country 101.

So much for Constitutional separation of powers envisioned by the founders when a single faction seeks the repeal of passed legislation.

bayam on October 15, 2013 at 4:08 PM

I love it when people cry about separation of powers when discussing a bill that raises taxes but originated in the Senate, passed the House without a vote, and has been altered post-facto by numerous Obama EOs and decrees rather than the legislative process.

And this within the context of Obama and Reid crying for Republicans to fund the government when the Senate couldn’t be bothered to pass a budget for nearly five years, and for a couple years of that stretch couldn’t even get a single Yea vote on a budget.

Murphy9 on October 15, 2013 at 4:47 PM

The harm, the pain, suffering and early death that this Frankenstein’s legislation will cause due to rationing and refusal of treatment, not to mention errors and waits for treatment, will have the LEFT demanding its destruction. Obama will have his ‘legacy’ and he can count it in dead and suffering Americans.
thatsafactjack on October 15, 2013 at 3:47 PM

Any of the above will never make the news. They won’t care because they will have a set of metrics that on the surface will look really good that shows how much of a success Obamacare is and that is what will get hammered into people’s heads even as their medical bills go through the roof.

It will be just like during the congressional Hearings as to the status of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae back before the financial crisis. The only things that Maxine Waters and Barney Frank parroted was how mortgages and home ownership were being extended out to minorities and low income individuals. They all vehemently denied that there was any danger to Freddie and Fannie.

As NewsBusters tells us:

On August 9, 2011, the cable anchor declared that opposing government spending was an “act of treason.”

On September 23, 2011, he insisted that the GOP wants to go back to the time when “slavery was cool.”

Good little Nazi, isn’t he? Dr. Goebbels would love him.

The obviously correct response by any smart Republican faced with that question.

The problem, of course, is that smart Republicans would avoid MSNBC in the first place in favor of news media that is only far left, rather than rabid left. That leaves only the people not smart enough to realize they’re walking into a snake pit.

So much for Constitutional separation of powers envisioned by the founders when a single faction seeks the repeal of passed legislation.

Just make sure this new third party has a core cadre of principled, dedicated leaders who won’t pull a Perot and leave in the middle of race or worse.

Michelle Obama wasn’t then or isn’t now “proud of her country,” she was only speaking about pride in people who voted for Obama (or her, in her mind). Michelle Obama loathes the USA, she certainly loathes about 75-80 percent of our population (that’d be “White people”).

I wish someone can give me a rational, and logical, reason why true conservatives like Marsha Blackburn, and many others, even bother to go on MSNBC. They will never convince the liberals who watch. Few if any conservatives watch. So it is ineffectual in messaging and all they get is crass attempts at gotcha. The only silver lining is that unless sites such as Hot Air report on it, nobody really knows she was even on. Just a waste of time.
