Open thread: Sunday morning talking heads

posted at 8:01 am on September 29, 2013 by Allahpundit

Cruzapalooza rolls on: The man behind the 21-hour floor speech gets the spotlight on “Meet the Press” this morning to talk ObamaCare, filibusters, and whether he’s now quietly running the House of Representatives. Mike Lee, meanwhile, will appear on “Fox News Sunday,” with both of them sure to be pressed on what happens if Boehner turns around and passes a clean CR with Democratic help. One word, my friends: RINOgeddon.

Actually, the most newsworthy interview today might be FNS’s chat with Kevin McCarthy. He’s the House whip so he’ll know better than anyone else this a.m. how Republicans plan to respond to Reid’s Senate bill. Meanwhile, MTP will have Jon Huntsman on to counter Cruz, I guess because no Cruz guest shot this weekend can stand without a formal centrist Republican rebuke of tea-party obstructionism and, let’s face it, we’re all pretty tired of Peter King.

Oh, also, Bill Clinton will be on ABC to roll out the Chelsea 2036 campaign. The full line-up is at Politico.

Ugh,
Chelsea Clinton.

No more nepotism.

I saw her recent interviews, and she didn’t impress me one bit.

Ivanka Trump will be President before Chelsea. Who, from what I’ve read, is in a marriage (at 33 years old) similar to her parents: separate apartments. Good luck with grandkids with that, Bubba.

Do ya think someone will remember to mention that the senate has refused to participate in the budget process for years?

The last time a formal budget was passed in Washington, Sarah Palin was still governor of Alaska. Coincidence? I think not.

Timmy Kaine just exposed himself as a vicious government thug who used HHS to gain access to insurance and required an insurance company to “apologize” and then do what he wanted. He’s liar and a thug and a maggot.

Wouldn’t it be great if we could all just call HHS and get them to act on our behalf if we didn’t like the answer got from a highly regulated business like a health insurance company? Yeah, the Feral Gubmint exists to make Timmy Kaine’s life easier but not many others… must be nice elitist.

They came to his aid and he came

Just because he is not pushing them aside trying to gain the

that was the time he had upChuck Schumer so mad he swallowed his tongue. I doubt Chris will ever allow that to happen again. That was a very good episode.

Cruz had been a senator for about 10 minutes when he dressed down that liberal dinosaur. It was similar to what he did to Dick Durbin the other night in the filibuster. Them dems cannot stand facts being repeated from a guy that also has the bill of rights and constitution at the ready for any response.

DanMan on September 29, 2013 at 9:44 AM

Why is a shutdown a “game changer” for Republicans when a lousy health care insurance monstrosity passed by Democrats and only by Democrats not a “game changer” for Democrats?

“Conservatives” and Republicans have been playing defense so long that they no longer know how to attack. Maybe they are afraid of being called “extremist” and “radical.” Britt Hume is getting to be a real wet blanket for any kind of conservative action plan.

Good for Cruz, blaming a gubmint shutdown on Harry Reid at every opportunity, without opposition from any “moderator” like DG. Says Democrats have been unwilling to compromise and obstructionist.

Cruz is doing great damage to the Democrat philosophy and methods, here. Gregory refuses to address the issues and keeps asking unrelated questions and sidetracks the Cruz responses. Pretty soon he will be talking over Cruz’ answers as he explains his conservative position.

Compromise is not part of the Demorat agenda but blaming Republicans is.

“Meet the Press” on NBC
• Conservative Rock Star
• Conservative
• RINO

NBC will use this, an unprecedented foray into Republican political thought, for two purposes: to attempt to portray the GOP in internal strife, and as a token to ward off fully obvious accusations that their name is NBC/DNC.

“Face the Nation” on CBS
• Kook-left pansy
• Libertarian Rock Star
• Kook-left pansy
• GOPer

Heh.

“This Week” on ABC
• Liberal Rock Star
• Islamo-Nazi
• Kook-left ditz

ABC’s usual kook-leftism. The whole week is about Republicans, so why not hold a show without any?

“Fox News Sunday” on Fox
• Establishment GOP
• Dissident Conservative
• Beltway Liberal
• Liberal (and centrist poseur)

Characteristic show of diversity.

“State of the Union” on CNN
• Conservative
• Conservative
• Kook-left pansy
• Not fair to label Artur Davis as a Dem; call him a GOPer.

Uncharacteristic show of diversity.

“Political Capital” on Bloomberg TV
• RINO pansy

Bloomberg is as bad or worse than any of the leftward shows. They are rarely worth commenting on.

“Newsmakers” on C-SPAN
• Starter for the Obama FreakShow admin

Newsmakers is a one-subject show and rarely worth commenting on. Today’s clownish guest is worth laughing at.

“Al Punto” on Univision
• G
• Rep. Jeff Denham (R-Calif.)
• Rep. Joe Garcia (D-Fla)
• Former New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson (D)

This mess is also rarely worth commenting on, but when racists operate in public with pride, sometimes you just have to take a step back and say “wow”. So…Mexican left-wing host, a socialist, two Mexican liberals, and a token white Republican. Funny.

Jaibones on September 29, 2013 at 10:28 AM

most I’ve seen of MTP in quite awhile ans switched it off as soon as Cruz was off. I’m betting that will be Cruz’s last time on that one too since he effectively countered every democrat talking Gregory threw at him.

Somebody up there complained about Kevin McCarthy. My previous comment about Chris Wallace applies as Wallace was attacking from the left over and over. Kevin did a pretty decent job given that.

The media is in full democrat spin mode like never before. It is sad to see these folks beclown themselves as the country slips away under the dems policies of no budgets, no spending limits, no regard for normal order, etc.

His endorsement… of his own Senate Minority Leader, from his own state… bothers you?

Are you sh**ting me, Private Pyle?

I want Senator Rand Paul to be POTUS on Jan 21, 2017. Now whether you want that or not, you have to recognize, if you have an understanding of American politics beyond what you read on a cereal box top, that if he wants to become POTUS, and if he wants to move his agenda when he does, he needs Mitch McConnell…

I guess you’re supporting McConnell then, who supports Reid, who supports Obama. Oh & don’t forget the House helper, Boehner.

And I don’t have an understanding of politics? We’ll just agree to disagree.

Just because I don’t support Paul’s endorsement of McConnell doesn’t mean I’m against Paul. There is much I admire him for. He takes stands that others won’t take.

Why Paul endorsed McConnell, I don’t know. But he was much more gracious in doing so, since McConnell fund raised for Paul’s opponent in 2009. McConnell and 23 other U.S. Senators supported Paul’s opponent.

The site, titled “Rand ‘We the People’ vs. Trey ‘The DC Insiders,’” notes that 23 Republican U.S. senators, including Kentucky’s Mitch McConnell, are to hold a $500-per-plate fundraiser for Grayson’s 2010 U.S. Senate campaign in Washington on Sept. 23.

Paul said 17 senators who are co-sponsoring the Sept. 23 fundraiser for Grayson voted for the bailout.

So McConnell and 23 other Senators were not supporting Rand Paul.

The reason I looked this up was because I thot perhaps McConnell had supported Rand Paul when he ran for the 2010 U.S. Senate. If that were true, than I could understand his current endorsement of McConnell.

But that’s not the case.

I’d like to know who the other Senators were!!
