Video: Hickenlooper finds “certain resentment” to deplorable nanny state mayor’s money

posted at 3:31 pm on September 15, 2013 by Jazz Shaw

Following the recall of two of Colorado’s elected officials who decided to jump on the gun grabbing bandwagon, plus the rather logic defying festival of excuses which followed, Governor John Hickenlooper finds himself with a lot on his mind. If it could happen to them, is his own seat safe? The Governor showed up on the morning shows and talked to CNN’s Candy Crowley for some first class dance maneuvers and a distinct sense of distance from Michael Bloomberg and his Mayors Against Illegal Guns group. (Hat tip to Andrew Johnson at The Corner.)

“Colorado, like a lot of western states, we’re very self-determined: we like to solve our own problems with our own people,” Hickenlooper said on CNN’s State of the Union on Sunday morning. “Outside money coming in is generally not welcomed by middle-of-the-road voters who help decide these things.”

He added that there is a “certain resentment” by Coloradans to outside money coming in from Bloomberg and his Mayors Against Illegal Guns group, as well the National Rifle Association.

Let’s just go to the video. Do you think he’s got a shot at next season’s Dancing With the Stars if this whole governor thing doesn’t work out?

Chickenpooper also has to find a way to blame the flooding on global warming. Y’know, without Algore’s… uh, manbearpig… in his yap.

Making $hit up as he goes along. Oh and the dig at the NRA was priceless.

Johnnyreb on September 15, 2013 at 3:48 PM

Well let’s see here, Gubner John.

If your logic holds, then the “outside money” from the NRA would have been equally off-putting, would it not?

So, your logic does not hold, fool. The people of Colorado resent nannies like you, infringing on their 2nd Amendment rights.

Period.,

Governor Tarcendo sure has a nice ring to it.

[unclesmrgol on September 15, 2013 at 3:46 PM]

Yup. He won the Governor’s race with a bit over 51% where Tancredo and Maes splitting up the rest. It will be very tough for Hickenlooper with his gun control and capital punishment positions while a good portion of the state is hot on secession.

The R’s will need a unifying candidate and a reasonably good one, but it’s likely he’ll be out of job come January 2015.

Dusty on September 15, 2013 at 3:52 PM

Last fall there was a referendum to abolish the death penalty on the CA ballot. Those who wanted to abolish outspent those who wanted to keep it 24 to 1 with the majority of the money from out of state. Thankfully, they lost.

Um, hasn’t this slope-shouldered twig boy got more important things to do right now instead of sucking Candy Crowley’s —- on TV?

Hicken-stupid thinks he can read the tea leaves with his pronouncement that Coloradans don’t like outside influence. But he better understand the plain fact that what the CO congress did, was uncalled for.

IronDioPriest on September 15, 2013 at 3:49 PM

The money from the NRA was not outside money. If you count up all of the NRA members in Colorado and add up their dues, that was not outside money, it was money from the people who live in the State of Colorado and pay NRA dues.

I suggest that the problem was more that it was ‘Yankee Money’ than simply ‘outside’.

slickwillie2001 on September 15, 2013 at 4:09 PM

Hickenlooper is riding a wave of Mexican,Californian and Chicagoan immigrants.

In the last 10 years we have suffered the mass influx of the imposing liberal “values” such as propping up abortion mills (think of the children) and imposing California/Chicago styles gun control (think of the children).

Will the tides turn as 1/2 of Colorado is looking to succeed? Will the polish come off the Obama turd as layoffs and disgruntled Unions start dropping off the voter ranks due to Obamascare? Are the future Magpuls laughing at the thought of building new factories in CO?

I certainly hope so.

Gotta say though, Hickenlooper restaurants are pretty g’damn good. I’ll give him that.

It’s strange to see fa&s and mumbling sissies like Hickenlooper getting elected in Colorado. I always thought of these western states differently. I guess it’s all Brokeback Mountain out there?

Jaibones on September 15, 2013 at 7:17 PM

From what I can tell, there isn’t much resentment about the NRA… it appears to mostly be about bloomberg or gun grab itself.

Nice dodge though.

I bet a lot of Coloradans are happy they have thier guns, given the problem with getting law enforcement around flooded areas. But I don’t recall Hickenlooper being all that upset about outside money in the lead-up to his gun-grabbbing legislation. He knows he’s screwed and so is his filthy party. This is damage control 101.

Jaibones on September 15, 2013 at 7:17 PM

When Hick was elected he was known for being a beer enthusiast and a restaurant entreprenuer with good restaurants. He also didn’t exactly win in a landslide, and his opponent, Dan Maes, was a Sarah Palin-level of lousy. The fact that Tancredo was runner up, and ahead of official Republican candidate Maes tells you something about Colorado. On top of all that, the D-bag that preceeded Hick was a real anti-business, concern troll, piece of crap, which Hick wasn’t, until he decided to idiotically become a gun grabber. Which wasn’t until after his 2nd term re-election.

Brokeback mountain was conceived by some stupid New England hargraven who doesn’t know the first thing about the Mountain West region or the rural way of life there. Big surprise.

Daikokuco on September 15, 2013 at 9:51 PM

^Until after *Bammy’s* 2nd term re-election.

Daikokuco on September 15, 2013 at 9:54 PM

Yeah, ol’ Chickenpooper is getting a bit nervous, isn’t he? He showed his true colors by signing every single leftist bill presented to him and welcoming Bloomberg’s dollars. He chose to listen to Bloomberg, Obama and Biden instead of the Colorado people. Now it’s time to pay the piper because he is next on the list. The fact that he postponed Nathan Dunlap’s execution is weighed against him as well.

All of this shows how stupid he is too. If he had played the moderate ah-shucks-I’m-just-a-regular guy card on the gun control laws, vetoing them, and honored the jury and state laws regarding Dunlap, he still would have been on the golden path to POTUS. Instead citizens now know him as a radical and his second term as governor is in jeopardy. Didn’t play that hand right, did you Hick?

Common Sense on September 15, 2013 at 11:45 PM

RAWNG!

It isn’t resentment against “outside money” which caused those recalls to succeed. You should go back and examine your first statement closely, Governor.

People who are truly self-determined are also self-defending. Those people trust themselves and their guns, because they don’t trust you and yours.

The people who stood up and initiated those recalls were supported by the sentiment of most voters in the jurisdictions of those State Senate seats. No outside money, no inside money, no money at all was going to change their minds, when their minds are fixed on liberty.

A equals A, Governor. Stop with the babble.
