Video: Anti-war students hound Petraeus on New York streets, screeching “war criminal”

posted at 5:21 pm on September 11, 2013 by Allahpundit

Via Mediaite, not just “war criminal.” One guy calls him a “piece of sh*t,” which is what he gets for 40 years of distinguished service. I’m tempted to say that a spectacle like this discredits the anti-war movement, but … what anti-war movement?

The most amazing thing about this isn’t the disrespect or the ferocity of harassment aimed at a guy who used a lighter touch to turn Iraq towards a comparatively better outcome. It’s the anachronism. When was the last time you saw people like this get quite this nasty with a military figure or politician? I guess, having bottled it up for so long in the name of not causing trouble for Bambi, it was bound to erupt at some point towards a safer target. Time to get Petraeus a security cordon, CUNY.

faraway on September 11, 2013 at 5:40 PM

Laughable. I guarantee you that the loudest among them is on some raced based scholarship. NY is full of these freeloading, affirmitive action windbags. They get a dumbed down degree and think they are educated. When they enter the job market and their skill level is put to the test, they cry racism when they get canned. The fact that Petreaus was a member of their god Obamas’ Admin. eludes them. Somehow I doubt they would react to Colin Powell the same way. Or better yet If there were a group of white students call Gen Powell a war criminal. It would be clasified as a hate crime. There is a great shakeout comming. You’ve seen it in Colorado. Its the start

The best place to observe ignorance of reality is to walk down the street in NYC.

Someone needs to educate these idjuts. From the Daily Kook, August 22, 2013:

DOJ Asks Court to Grant Immunity to Bush, Cheney & Rumsfeld for Iraq War

In court papers filed today, the United States Department of Justice requested that George W. Bush, Richard Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Colin Powell, Condoleezza Rice and Paul Wolfowitz be granted procedural immunity in a case alleging that they planned and waged the Iraq War in violation of international law.

-snip-

Meanwhile, Bradley Manning – now Chelsea Manning – will be spending 35 years in prison for exposing U.S. war crimes.

Crimes Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and their ilk helped choreograph.

The left is still under the delusion that, um, Chelsea Manning exposed war crimes with his apache video and war log leaks. The reality is that he exposed himself as an oathbreaker and an extremely confused individual who couldn’t understand that the video showed a lawful engagement against armed insurgents.

IIRC, he was into some very aberrant field that had the word “sonic” in its attempt to be intriguing.

Naturally his Twitter feed was private.

I figured it out because he borrowed a quote some fellow prog fruit, that only turned out to have that one citation. Then, I just checked that dude’s followers and voila…ghey black progs sort of stand out.

budfox on September 11, 2013 at 7:03 PM

These folks do not imagine that they would ever be at risk or suffer if the people Petraeus fought had won. A point that is generally true if you assume that what happens say in Iraq will stay in Iraq. It is easy to say sharia law is no big thing if you don’t have to live under it and be fully subject to its requirements. Of course one can choose to live under it but then that is personal choice.

People who have lived under very restrictive regimes — police states, religious oligarchies, etc. — would be unlikely to indulge in condeming someone who has been fighting to keep folks like that from taking over. They know what the cost (to them) will be if he lost.

Russ808 on September 11, 2013 at 7:08 PM

Looking at the date on Youtube, it seems this occurred over Obama’s no-good, very bad, horrible weekend?

I’m sorry this happened to ANY of our military, let alone such a high-ranking official. But…I see frustration leaking out in these poow wittle leftist babies and it’s pure schadenfreude. Their Utopian Bamby dream went up in a cloud of defunct Hope and Change. They can’t take it out on the Mom Jeans Prince, so they’ll go for their knee-jerk target: the military.

Grace_is_sufficient on September 11, 2013 at 7:10 PM

I would have yelled “You lied about Benghazi saying it was that utube!” and you got thousands of your own troops dead and missing limbs for your stupid COIN/”Winning Muslim Hearts and Minds!”

VorDaj on September 11, 2013 at 7:15 PM

Diana West: “Here’s a plan Gen. Petraeus should be able to get behind: A new battle strategy, maybe a Kilcullen special, for him to join forces with Iran to once and for all nuke Israel and its genocidal apartment houses out of existence. That, according to his own lights, is sure to keep American troops safe in Iraq and Afghanistan”.

Petraeus has no regard for the lives and limbs of American troops, which he places as inferior to Muslim “sensitivities” in his hubris and delusion of “Winning [Muslim] Hearts and Minds”, his beloved Mad Hatter’s “COIN”. He puts respect for the koran, which he calls “The Holy Qur’an”, above his sworn oath to protect and defend the United States Constitution. If George Patton came back from the dead, he would kick Petaeus into Kingdom Come.

VorDaj on September 11, 2013 at 7:18 PM

Mixed emotions. Thanks for your service, but boy did you really f-up on Benghazi. Rather than come clean and tell us what the hell happened there – you allowed the administration to arrest and jail an innocent citizen filmmaker. That’s very disturbing. But we can’t jeopardize our pension – can we?

Hill60 on September 11, 2013 at 7:22 PM

Petraeus lied for Obama, and for himself, and when cornered, he did a limited ‘hang out’ while all the while claiming he had told the truth when he said before the House Intelligence Committee that it was the video. Of course, anyone who had been paying attention already knew that Petraeus is a VERY Clintonesque man, in fact maybe even more Clintonesque than Clinton.

Andrew C. McCarthy: “Boot’s attack on West is an effort to defend a surpassingly foolish statement in which Gen. David Petraeus cast Israel as the source of all America’s woes in the Middle East. To his great discredit, the general — in a Clintonesque fashion which, as we shall see, is probably not a coincidence — simultaneously denied making the statement, grudgingly admitted making it while minimizing its significance, and accused West and others of misrepresenting his views. In fact, the general’s critics quoted his words at length, placed them in unmistakable context, and drew from them the same commonsense conclusion drawn by Israel’s gleeful critics — for whom Petraeus is the hero of the moment.”

VorDaj on September 11, 2013 at 7:24 PM

What a disgrace to the uniform and to his country David “Lietraeus” Petraeus is.

Diana West: “Spontaneous protest, unplanned attack: That was Petraeus’ testimony as CIA director three days after U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans were killed in Benghazi, Libya.
Within 24 hours of the attack, however, the White House and top officials at the State Department, the Pentagon and the intelligence agencies knew that no protest, spontaneous or other, had taken place. They knew the U.S. had been hit on the 9/11 anniversary by a planned attack by al-Qaida affiliates. Ruppersberger’s account, then, indicates Petraeus deceived the committee. When committed knowingly, as former federal prosecutor Andrew C. McCarthy recently pointed out, such deception is a felony.

This same phony story — that “extreme groups” took advantage of a “spontaneous” protest over a YouTube video to mount an “unplanned” attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi — would be repeated by the Obama White House for two weeks, climaxing in the president’s U.N. address on Sept. 25. There, President Obama cited the video six times and declared to the world body, dominated by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (an Islamic bloc of 56 nations plus the Palestinian Authority): “The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam.”

Blaming the YouTube video for the violence was, in effect, blaming free speech, which is also OIC policy. Additionally, it denied the reality of the planned jihad attack, which, by extension, denied that al-Qaida-style jihad terrorism still exists at the vanguard of expansionist Islam.

To date, the media haven’t asked President Obama and his top officials, why? Why the administration-wide cover-up? Why didn’t military help get to Battleground Benghazi? Without coming clean, President Obama has been re-elected, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton mentioned as a 2016 presidential candidate, and U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice floated as the next secretary of state.

And Petraeus? On Nov. 12, Fox News reported that “congressional leaders,” believing Petraeus lied to them in September, had “already considered charging Petraeus with perjury, but said they planned to withhold judgment until he testified this week.” (Under oath or not, it is a crime to lie to federal officials.) We have heard no such tough talk since.”

And BTW – Diana West: “Even though it appears the former CIA director lied to the House Intelligence Committee on Sept. 14, and may have lied again to the same committee on Nov. 16, he is starting to slip out of the inner ring of Benghazi cover-up suspects. We are losing sight of his official role in the deception as the media lens ossifies over a tawdry love triangle. For this, he must be thankful. Maybe to ensure the good fortune continues, Petraeus has hired Bob Barnett, the $975-per-hour Washington superlawyer to officials with issues and/or big book deals, to manage what reports call Petraeus’ “transition to civilian life.”

I couldn’t read that article because I guess you had to have credentials to be able to log in but I doubt that Cummings wanted to prove Obama and the democrats were lying about Benghazi.

Provide something concrete instead of opinions, hearsay and agendas.

BTW, it looks like one of the authors of one of the articles is a woman who is pissed that Patreaus had an affair.
