Adam Gadahn renews calls for attacks on Americans

posted at 11:01 am on August 18, 2013 by Jazz Shaw

I suppose this dirt-bag is hoping to go viral on Youtube.

An American al Qaeda militant has called for more attacks on Western diplomats in the Arab world, praising the killers of the U.S. ambassador to Libya on September 11 last year, a U.S.-based monitoring group said on Sunday…

Adam Gadahn, a California-born convert to Islam with a $1 million U.S. price on his head, appealed to wealthy Muslims to offer militants rewards to kill ambassadors in the region, citing bounty set for killing the U.S. ambassador to Yemen, Washington-based SITE monitoring group said.

“These prizes have a great effect in instilling fear in the hearts of our cowardly enemies,” Gadahn said in the 39-minute video recording in Arabic posted on websites used by Islamist militants, according to SITE.

“They also encourage hesitant individuals to carry out important and great deeds in the path of Allah,” he said, in an English transcript on SITE.

Another fine product of California. All of his blustering nonsense aside, this is another reminder of questions which remain over Gadahn. How many years has this guy been running loose? There’s a million dollar bounty on his head. He’s on TV more often than The Simpsons some weeks. Given all of the drones, spies and intelligence gathering assets at our disposal, how has this guy not managed to wake up to a missile coming through the side of his tent yet?

I’m guessing that he’s simply not that much of a high priority target for us. It seems unlikely in the extreme that anyone who is actually in the business of training for, planning and executing terrorist attacks would trust him with much in the way of useful information. He’s a propaganda tool for al Qaeda and nothing more. But as a former American (we have revoked his citizenship by now, haven’t we?), he’s something of a thumb in the eye for the West and it would still be a welcome change to take him off the playing field.

I don’t think the US government declares people “outlaws” (outside of the law, no longer under sovereign protection) anymore. I also don’t think the US government can just yank citizenship from someone. I don’t know though, this regime kills US citizens without a trial already and people like Jazz Shaw cheer for it.

Don’t forget — many on the left think of us as terrorists. Try not to lobby too hard for the fed govt to do extra judicial assassinations.

Well, he’s not in the military. He’s a US citizen and a civilian. Drag him back here to face trial (and if he’s done nothing other then make ridiculous youtube videos, they’d probably have to cut him loose.)

We can’t have a “war” when we haven’t declared war on anyone. The government won’t even say who this war is against, other then the abstract idea of “terror.”

We gave the government carte blanche for way too long to decide who is an “enemy combatant” and who is “supporting terror” etc etc. I don’t trust them to make these calls anymore, especially with all of the NSA revelations. They can declare war on a sovereign state (with congressional approval), or start treating all of this as criminal matters. i’m sick of a shifty war with shifty enemies (oh, and its classified as to who exactly we are targeting… we’re arming jihadists in syria, partnering with them in egypt, but bombing them on yemen. Why?)

happytobehere on August 18, 2013 at 11:26 AM

And the only reason 9/11 went down as it did was because of government snafus, the biggest two being that cabin doorways were unlocked / easily accessible and that the governments standard procedure in a hijacking is to let the hijackers take the plane and land it somewhere, then they’d bribe them with a few million dollars and they hijackers would leave everyone unarmed.

The government also ignored tip offs about these guys’ strange behavior, and they let them overstay their visas.

By locking the door to the cockpit and dropping that stupid policy of doing whatever the hijackers want, we’ve basically ensured nothing like that could happen again.

They have no problem taking away MY freedoms for their war on terror, but they refuse to do anything about Muslims and they continue to tell us that terrorists are from all religions, races and sexes.

They have to do humiliating pat downs on old ladies in wheelchairs, but they let hundreds of muslims through the line without a problem.

We’re all sick of it. But it beats the alternative of a full scale war on Islam. Infrequent attacks by an impotent enemy while we keep telling their faithful that their death cult really means “peace” is vastly preferable to informing 1 billion people that Osama was actually right about what the Koran commands.

This “war” has been going on for like 1400 years. Occasionally we wake up and realize they’re at war with us. Luckily, Islam is such a destitute system that they’ll never really get their act together. That being said, Islam will take the place of a completely vacuous culture. It’s up to us to maintain some semblance of cultural aspirations to prevent Islam from seeping into the void.

happytobehere on August 18, 2013 at 11:44 AM

Give me a recent convert to Christianity, Judaism, or Buddhism anyday.

I could be wrong, but Islam may have a good effect on those in prison or in other difficult circumstances. I don’t know much about Islam but in my personal life and from what I learn via the media, I have almost universally bad experiences with it.

I’ll consider spiritual guidance from almost anyone, but when I hear it’s coming from Islam, I immediately discount it rather heavily.

Cleombrotus on August 18, 2013 at 12:00 PM

Ultimately, the problem with Islam is their attitude of Muslims first, everyone else a distant second. They don’t have that hallmark of ever other legitimate religion, which is universal compassion — brotherly love. Love your brother as yourself, not just your MUSLIM brother. To me, this is toxic. No different from a gang or cult.

Cleombrotus on August 18, 2013 at 12:00 PM

Part of it is that a convert that lives peacefully in their new religion isn’t very newsworthy.

My close friend from high school grew up Unitarian. She said she liked it because you could basically be anything and still be Unitarian. She also said that if she were going to ‘be’ anything, it would probably be wiccan, but, wicca was just a bit too organized for her tastes.

Imagine my surprise some years later when she became an abaya wearing Muslim.

She lives in WI with her husband and their two kids (one of whom has special needs due to a chromosomal deletion). And, other than a change in her clothing and the fact she now wishes people an Eid Mubarak once each year, she’s the same wonderful person that she was before.

As a Christian, Islam is certainly not the direction I would like to have seen her go, given that I believe salvation lies with an acceptance of Christ. However, she’s not slowly being turned into a bad seed that’s radicalized and wishing death to America and teaching her kids to hate.

I certainly don’t have large scale numbers on converts to Islam (one way or the other) but, I at least know one personally that is a great friend.
