Another nail in the Gasland coffin

posted at 1:21 pm on August 14, 2013 by Erika Johnsen

It still hasn’t ceased to amaze me that so-called environmentalists and hardcore progressives are still so determined to take as gospel the deliberately misleading documentary Gasland — it was nominated for an Academy Award, for goodness’ sake — and to paint filmmaker Josh Fox as a hero in the struggle to save the planet. Even after all of the widespread debunking that went on after the film’s release, Fox went ahead with a sequel that doubled down on the same ol’ outrageous lies and misrepresentations. It didn’t say much for the level of journalistic integrity involved in the films, and it doesn’t surprise me that the makers of the dueling documentary FrackNation have unearthed yet another example of a fracking fabrication in Fox’s original film:

My, my.

Hydraulic fracturing has been one of the most remarkable innovations in energy production, in that it’s been both a huge boon for jobs and the economy and it’s responsible for the shale gas revolution — which in turn has led to the United States’ recent decrease in total carbon emissions. That just happens to be the stated goal of self-proclaimed environmentalists everywhere — why are these progressives so anti-science?

Environmentalists are one thing (mainly useful idiots for the progressives) but progressives don’t give a rat’s bo-hiney about the environment. For them global warming is the ultimate ‘tragedy of the commons’ to trump the Bill of Rights, limited government and human liberty. They don’t care if something isn’t true, just that they can convince enough people to believe it and approve their power to “solve” it.

Progressivism……the new Evil Empire.

Brought to you by the same Satan that gave us the Soviet Union (killer of tens of millions of their own people).

The governing philosophy has all the charm and hope of Darwin, with all the urgings to just be animals that need to be herded to slaughter. It also is the exact opposite of the opportunity of Capitalism and Christian thought that all life, at it’s origin, is of value and divine (whether it corrupts itself later or not).

All hail the devil’s political religion…….Progressivism.

Somebody should ask Josh Fox how he heats his home. If he uses natural gas, the gas company should cut him off due to all the business his film causes them to lose. If he uses oil, somebody should inform him that it would be cheaper and give a smaller “carbon footprint” to switch to frackin’ natural gas!

…..and Progressivism seeks to fence in, limit, and deny hope for growth and opportunity.

You can’t have a shower that has too much water pressure (the world will dry up).

You must wear seat belts because you’ll hurt yourself you cute little dum-dum.

You must be made to have your kids take 20 immunization shots before they are 18 years old, because you might get ______.

You must only drink the size of soda that WE (THE STATE) think is appropriate for you.

You cannot drill for oil or natural gas because you’re going to blow up the world and cause earthquakes and on and on.

Name the industry, and if it involves advancing mankind and prospering the people of Earth……the Progressives hate it.

why are these progressives so anti-science?

Because it was never about the environment. These people are Watermelons: green on the outside and red on the inside. Besides being anti-capitalism they are anti-civilization and anti-human. After all, what other movement would make a cable series based on their most fervent wish that there no longer were any humans on earth?

True, it is about the left dictating how we live our lives. With, of course, plenty of carved out exemptions for the special classes.

I wonder just how “green” it is to have BO get his very own flight to Martha’s Vineyard. One of three flights necessary to get the first grifters all to their multi-million dollar vacation.

…why are these progressives so anti-science?

Probably because fracking increases the supply of a fossil fuel and therefore must be unholy bad especially since cheap fossil fuels undermind the agenda to get increased solar and wind sources which are still uncompetitive in the general open market — for niche uses they can do great because once the economies of scale get factored out and the usually limited energy availability adjusted to, they can do alright.

There is possibly also the fact that nobody (a presumption on my part) has really experienced a wide scale economy where solar and wind are significant producers of energy (i.e. if they were turned off the grid would crash or become very, very shaky) with limited or no recourse to other sources. So the progressives ASSUME that if their dreams of renewables comes true that their lifestyle will not be affected either in cost, availability, or reliability. Hence they can ignore inconvenient truths.

If the Progressive Enviros practice what they preach, they would be living in mud huts in the Amazon, and they can’t use any fossil fuel or any by-product to get to any destination.

And pass it on to MY kidz! Or did that part of vaccination not occur to you?

Oh small note, clean water and vaccination were the first steps in the life expectancy we currently have. The first hurdle is the first 1-2 years of life where diarrhea and a number of these childhood disease we vaccinate for and you seem to object to carried off huge numbers of children.

why are these progressives so anti-science?

Because they have no sense of irony.

To have Big Oil beat them at their own game – lowering CO2 emissions by expanding use of another hydrocarbon product – is an irony so delicious that progressives are reduced to a furious, spluttering incoherence.

And the science is incontrovertible. The lower CO2 emissions are not just a marginal measurement: they’re substantial. There is no faking it.
