Open thread: Sunday morning talking heads

posted at 8:01 am on August 4, 2013 by Allahpundit

Gang of Eighters Chuck Schumer, Dick Durbin, and Lindsey Graham will be on CBS, NBC, and CNN, respectively, so expect a whole lotta amnesty drivel this morning in anticipation of the coming backlash during the August recess. Skip that and stick with Fox’s and ABC’s line-ups on the “surveillance versus privacy” debate instead. ABC will have Peter King and Glenn Greenwald on; Fox will have Michael Hayden and Justin Amash. It’s not clear if they’ll be appearing sequentially or in tandem for a true debate, but if it’s the latter, hoo boy. The King/Greenwald segment in particular would be a momentous punch-up.

If none of that appeals to you, Paul Ryan will be on CBS to explain why Obama’s “grand bargain” on the new budget is crapola. And, of course, to do a little amnesty-boosting of his own. The full schedule is at Politico.

Paul Ryan, is by far, the most overrated politician… ever. He brought absolutely nothing to the ticket other than a pretty good convention speech. He blew his debate and couldn’t even deliver Wisconsin.

And now he’s an amnesty shill.

Why would anyone from the DBM want to cover Benghazi?
Just because we learned this week that there were 35 CIA types all guarding or shipping out manpads to Syria and that Russia,Syria and Turkey could have hired Ansar al Sharia to do the dirty work instead of the MB why would CNSNBCABCCNN bother covering a minor league story like that.Come on no news there.

We need a truly subversive broadcast network. A place for total heterodoxy to have a voice. No one has thought of this. The leftist model is bitter, ossified and decadent. The right or “conservative” model, that is, Fox, is stilted, corporatist and bland. The problem is, is there anybody left in America with the truly liberal and free-thinking impulses AND the balls and the money to do it?

What do you have against money? Even “big bucks” are preferable to “no bucks.” Nothing you typed contradicts the assertion I made about Demint’s intelligence.
.
Of course, all the people who complain about the “big bucks” prefer the squalor and deprivation of “no bucks,” right? And let’s face it, the Senate is not a place where you can line your pockets with money and make a political difference, right? Just ask Øbama and Biden.

Leave it to Beaver is on.

Mocked as a phony portrayal of harmonious American family life, the show actually explored social issues in a subtle but revealing way that far surpasses the hit’m-over-the-head preachiness of later liberal sitcoms. I’m thinking in particular of a show it did about alcoholism, and one about economic class divides.

Paul Ryan will be on CBS to … do a little amnesty-boosting of his own.

Paul Ryan is the real threat on amnesty. The way he saunters up at some meeting with youth and acts like he is Mr. Cool and says causally “here’s how we’re going to pass amnesty, in October we will… blah blah blah.” Apparently Ryan has already concluded that it is certain that we are going to pass amnesty, no ifs or buts. Ryan needs to be stopped, cold.

They all went home to their districts and we didn’t have to listen to any of them except our own Congresscritter, and our two Senators (if we couldn’t avoid them by actually being busy or something).
What we need is a Summer Recess for the Media!
