Today’s moronic fake controversy: CNBC analyst uses phrase “chink in the armor”

posted at 3:41 pm on July 31, 2013 by Allahpundit

On a news day so slow that Drudge is red-fonting a story about Hollywood’s Nazi past, I guess this’ll have to do as grist for the outrage mill. Nutshell: CNBC was talking about Rupert Murdoch’s divorce from his wife Wendi. Wendi is Asian. One of the analysts used the phrase “chink in the armor.” There’s not a shred, not a whisper, not a scintilla of evidence that he meant it in any untoward way, and no one’s offering any. The guy didn’t laugh or smirk or do anything to suggest that he intended a double meaning. No one’s claiming that he has a habit of racial cracks. The sum total of the charge against him is that (a) he used the word “chink” in a well-known, unobjectionable context (b) in a conversation that involved someone who’s Asian. That’s what it takes in America 2013 to cause some low-grade media upset about racism.

Naturally Media Matters is in the middle of all this. They asked the Asian-American Journalism Association for a perfunctory denunciation and got one, albeit half-heartedly. Why CNBC even deigned to respond to this idiocy, I have no idea. But now you’re fully caught up on the manufactured transgression du jour. Consider that palate cleansed.

The only reason why this became an issue was because an ESPN writer used the term in reference to Jeremy Lin.

I’m laughing too and want to add my own funny jokes but let’s remember that the political correctness movement is deadly serious. One Bill Lind nailed it back in 2000:

The Origins of Political Correctness

We call it “Political Correctness.” The name originated as something of a joke, literally in a comic strip, and we tend still to think of it as only half-serious. In fact, it’s deadly serious. It is the great disease of our century, the disease that has left tens of millions of people dead in Europe, in Russia, in China, indeed around the world. It is the disease of ideology. PC is not funny. PC is deadly serious.

If we look at it analytically, if we look at it historically, we quickly find out exactly what it is. Political Correctness is cultural Marxism. It is Marxism translated from economic into cultural terms. It is an effort that goes back not to the 1960s and the hippies and the peace movement, but back to World War I. If we compare the basic tenets of Political Correctness with classical Marxism the parallels are very obvious.

Hawaii lawmakers want to buy homeless one-way tickets off island

Lawmakers in the Aloha State want to wave goodbye to their growing homeless population — by buying them a one-way ticket off the island.

Hawaii’s controversial three-year “Return to Home” pilot program launches later this year and is being billed as a way to help the state’s 17,000 homeless residents, while reducing the financial burden the state has in caring for them. Under the plan, the state will pay for a one-way plane ticket for any homeless resident who can find someone on the mainland to take them in.

The program, which has a $100,000 annual budget, is the brainchild of state Rep. John Mizuno, who had unsuccessfully tried to get a similar plan through the past three legislative sessions. This year, the measure was attached to a larger spending bill and squeaked through the state legislature.

Leave it to liberal states and other enclaves to ship their problems out of the region. They’re clear evidence that their ideas and programs don’t work, so they must not be allowed visibility. The meme must be maintained at all cost. That’s why dictatorships have prison camps, often in the far reaches of the empire.

At one Dem convention a few years ago, all the homeless in the area of the convention site were forced out of the area. Some of those people had to live in nearby woods.

In previous years Hawai’i was also sending prisoners to Oklahoma and some other state in the Midwest. As I said the locals are furious, and O’bama’s pal Governor Abercrombie has “promised” to end the program. But there’s not enough room in the island prisons.

In the past couple of years at least 2 of the Hawaiian inmates in Arizona have been murdered in prison. The most recent was a developmentally disabled dude who by all accounts was a model prisoner. He was in for 5 years for…probation violation. Such a waste.

He (the mostly white) board member was forced to resign over his vocabulary.
I’m certain the other black/white members were related to Sheila Jackson Lee, or certainly someone of her intellectual caliber.
