Want infrastructure improvement and middle class jobs, Mr. Obama? Approve the Keystone XL pipeline

posted at 2:31 pm on July 27, 2013 by Bruce McQuain

One has to be forever bemused by our President of Perpetual Irony.  Recently, in his big economic speech, he stood at the port in Jacksonville, FL  to emphasize infrastructure’s role in creating jobs.  He then proceeded to call out House Republicans as obstructionists.

Question 1: What is a project which will immediately increase the capacity our energy infrastructure and create jobs at no cost to the government?

Question 2: Who is the obstructionist not allowing that to happen?

The Keystone XL pipeline would do both, of course, but Mr. Obama has unilaterally chosen not to allow it to proceed. Initially the excuse was the pipeline’s original route crossed some “sensitive” areas in Nebraska.  But that has since been reconciled, the new route approved and the governor of Nebraska has stated that everyone is happy with the result.

Except Mr. Obama.

Then there is his all but declared “war on coal”, a product critical to our energy infrastructure. It begins to become clear that ideology is much more important to the President than middle class jobs.  If Mr. Obama has his way, many thousands of middle class jobs will be lost in the coal mines and coal fired electrical plants as those plants are regulated out of existence. Those who understand  economics  realize the ripple effect those sorts of job losses would have on communities all across the country.   The obvious other consequences of such a policy, such as brownouts and blackouts, don’t seem to be of a particular concern to this president either.  It is clear that while he has the executive power to do it, he plans to use agencies such as the EPA to do his ideological dirty work through regulation.  Congressional oversight is not welcome.  And watch for the big push for climate change legislation coming soon. This is where the left intends to literally create tax revenue from thin air by trying to scare Americans to death.

So, one has to wonder how serious Mr. Obama really is about middle class jobs given the reality of his administration’s total lack of focus on jobs for the past 6 years.   Is the speech about jobs?  Or, in Obama’s world of the perpetual political campaign, is this just another in a series of spool ups for the next election – in this case the 2014 mid-terms.  Is it again time to name the “enemy” and begin the demonization process?

Read the speech carefully – I think you’ll conclude that jobs is just a cover for politics as usual.

Let’s face it, King Barry wants “reparations”. AKA “income re-distribution”.

Well, that’s just it. Obama is an Alinskyite and a Marxist. He aims to destroy the middle class.

It’s not just Obama. It’s the entire Democrat Party, RepubliDems, and the media that are keeping America in the horrible state it’s in.

(dis)Honorable Mention: The people who listen to the media and take their word as gospel, and who vote for the politicians that are messing up the country.

But, they are building the Keystone XL pipeline, just not the small section that will cross the border into Canada.

President Obstructionama.

Why does he bother to open his yap? We know it’s all lies.

But, they are building the Keystone XL pipeline, just not the small section that will cross the border into Canada.

I firmly believe that Obama will drag this out until the pipeline is complete to the Canadian border. There will be a small statement late on a Friday afternoon, and during the weekend, Trans-Canada will install the last few meters of pipeline across the border into Canada, before anybody can even get to a federal court on Monday.

Environmentals will hear on the following Monday that Keystone XL is complete … and they will curse Obama, who has properly feathered his bed for his retirement.

That’s about right. Marxists are never about the wealthy. Marx himself hated the middle class and, so, wanted to destroy it.

The mix is worse in Obama. He’s not only a dictatorial type like are all Marxists, Fascists, and other Statists. He’s also a narcissist in the extreme.

Wouldn’t it be cool to have the most beautiful woman in the world (as you define such a woman) half as much in love with you as Obama is in love with himself?

Liam on July 27, 2013 at 3:49 PM

Obama hates America. Remember “I will fundamentally change America”.. Keystone Pipeline? He doesn’t want America to have a thriving economy. Are you crazy? He lies everytime he opens his mouth. He wants everyone begging government. He wants America on its knees. He wants us to be on food stamps, welfare, and any other entitlement so we are beholden to the politicians for our handouts. There is no room for a middle class in a Communist dictatorship. One would think that after the devastation of every economy in which it has been tried as well as the hundreds of millions of working class people murdered under Marxist dictators that the human race would catch on that Communism is not only a failed ideology but a lethal one. If things don’t change soon in the U.S.A. we will also join the ranks of “failed socialist nations.” You still want to keep voting these democrats in?

KCinLV on July 27, 2013 at 3:55 PM

In 2015 the Surmont Phase 2 Tar Oil Sands will begin production of up to 109,000 barrels per day. Including Phase 1, total production will be 136,000 barrels per day. And where will that oil go? As of now, the Phase 2 production seems destined to go to China. Also a leg of the Keystone Pipeline would take oil from ND south which is presently being shipped by Warren Buffet’s Burlington Northern Santa Fe LLC. Gee, wonder if that fact influences President Obama’s Keystone Pipeline delay.

KCinLV on July 27, 2013 at 3:55 PM

When will people realize that that’s the part the progressive “best and brightest” like?

They are the sort of overcivilized aesthetes which every advanced culture develops late in its lifespan. They have everything; money, power, and the leisure to indulge their tastes- and kinks.

But it’s not enough.

They become irritated that they are not worshiped. And then resentful that the vast majority of humanity, the Great Unwashed, even exists. From there, it’s a short step to;

1. Believing themselves to be a new, superior lifeform which no longer needs their civilization (how many times have you heard the “intellectuals” talk about being “post-modern” or even “post-human”?) and

2. Seeking to eradicate said civilization so they can have the Earth (aka “Holy Mother Gaia” these days) all to themselves.

And this doesn’t even include the nihilists in the mix, who want everything destroyed just to watch it burn and revel in the agonies of all those who suffer and die. (Think about half the leadership of every dictatorship in the 20th Century, i.e., the ones who ran gulags, “re-education camps”… and Dachau.)

To these types, Marxism and Fascism’s body counts are their greatest merits. Just like Genghis Khan;

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-1350272/Genghis-Khan-killed-people-forests-grew-carbon-levels-dropped.html

Yes, exterminating about 10% of the human population of Earth at the time (40M off of about 400M) is considered to be a good thing.

The question we need to ask is,

Why should we cede power to people whose Utopian dreams include seeing how many of us they can do away with?

President Obama said the proposed Keystone XL oil sands pipeline would not be a major job creator and could increase gasoline prices, but added that the White House decision will rest on climate change.

“Republicans have said that this would be a big jobs generator. There is no evidence that that’s true,” Obama said in a New York Times interview published Saturday.

Obama, in some of his most extensive remarks ever on the pipeline, also said Canada could “potentially be doing more” to curb emissions from the oil sands.
