Guess who’s abandoning Obamacare in droves? Moderate Democrats

Shot: Democrats’ 2014 strategy: Own Obamacare

Chaser:

The ever-falling support for the ever-unpopular Obamacare comes from a constituency that may be of interest to Democrats. Democrats:

The landmark health-reform law passed in 2010 has never been very popular and always highly partisan, but a new Washington Post-ABC News poll finds that a group of once loyal Democrats has been steadily turning against Obamacare: Democrats who are ideologically moderate or conservative.

Just after the law was passed in 2010, fully 74 percent of moderate and conservative Democrats supported the federal law making changes to the health-care system. But just 46 percent express support in the new poll, down 11 points in the past year. Liberal Democrats, by contrast, have continued to support the law at very high levels – 78 percent in the latest survey.

As you might imagine, self-described “liberal Democrats” make up a minority of the party, with 57 percent identifying as “moderate” or “conservative.”

I continue to fail to see how trying to repeal something a majority of Americans have never supported, which has only steadily falling support from large swaths of even Democratic voters, is the outside the mainstream. As with immigration, “you can make a pretty convincing case” that Republicans are closer to the American people than Democrats are in clinging to this thing, in full. As I’ve noted several times, nearly all repeal efforts have been more bipartisan than the passage of the original bill.

Liberal supporters of Obamacare assume it will prove its mettle when launched, despite many reasons to believe otherwise. They’re right that subsidies once doled out, are hard to wean anyone off of, but it seems a wide open question whether the system for doling them out will even be operational in October, as required by law. In the meantime, reasonably deep skepticism about the law even within their own party ranks, make it hard to recruit as many people as possible to join the exchanges, which could lead to the dreaded rate “death spiral.”

Hence, Operation Oprah, to get young people on the hook so they can subsidize the older and sicker. To be fair, people like Kanye can get young people to buy $120 plain white T-shirts, so maybe he can get them to make this bad financial calculation, too. But will it work for the moderate and conservative Democrats that keep the party viable?

These 57% are nothing but despicable, lying scumbags – as all democrats are. They supported ramming this POS through, through every criminal means available to them and their Indonesian pet. It’s like that treasonous dirtbag, Stupak and his gang of “dems concerned with abortion”. LOL. They are scum just like the rest of their scumsucking party. There isn’t a decent dem around, since any decent person would have left that party even before the Indonesian retard took office, as it was clear that Barky was intending to do nothing but carry out destruction, anti-Americanism and bring as much pain and suffering to us and the West that his 3 watt pea-brain was capable of.

In any event, none of this matters because the Weeping Boner would rather be eaten alive than ever do anything to stop Barky or the America-hating left. Boner wouldn’t stop BarkyCare for anything … just to show the Tea Party that they can vote him power but they have nothing to say about anything after that.

Time to roll out that stupid no-talent B list slut to talk about signing up for Obamacare in terms of making “the first time” in signing up for health coverage special. Though most of that audience is probably still living in the basement and mooching off their parent’s health insurance plan (until that disappears).

Nonsense. They could also claim to be Anastasia, Russian Empress too. Doesn’t make it true.

Put yourself in the mind of the enemy- few of them think they are unreasonable commies who deserve do die a painful death at the hands of Obamacare. In their world, John McCain is a radical fringe conservative and the WaPo or NYT is fair and balanced.

Since Democrats live on a different planet and speak a different language, I wonder what the words “Moderate” and “Conservative” would mean in their language.
On this planet, the term “Moderate Democrat” is an oxymoron. Maybe on theirs it means “hairless goat” or something??

Lew on July 23, 2013 at 10:42 PM

Well the one good thing about it is that these Democrats can’t pick up and move to a Red state to escape it.

So, “moderate Democrats,” not so fun when the trap springs and you aren’t in the clear like you expected, is it? Perhaps you aren’t as special and enlightened as you thought–least so in the eyes of DNC party leaders and their various millionaire and billionaire apparatchiks. None of them ever saw you as anything more significant than a path of dirt to trod on. When they talked about “we,” turns out they never, ever meant “you.”

Blacklake on July 24, 2013 at 12:36 AM

LOL! “Moderate Democrats!”
That’s a hoot!
They used to be called “Yellow Dogs.”
After they rammed through the ACA, or “ObamaCare,”
we can just call them the “Scalded Dog Democrats.”

The most dangerous man to any government is the man who is able to think things out for himself, without regard to the prevailing superstitions and taboos. Almost inevitably he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane and intolerable, and so, if he is romantic, he tries to change it. And even if he is not romantic personally he is very apt to spread discontent among those who are

donabernathy on July 24, 2013 at 12:49 AM

It’s too late to stop it. Let the young people who voted in droves for Obama start to subsidize my generation’s health care costs. Republicans have bent over backwards to save them from the high costs they are going to have to pay because of Obamacare and in appreciation they re-elected this moron. It’s time for the 30 and under leftist crowd to pay up like the suckers they are.

Republicans, please SHOW SOME BALLS FOR ONCE IN YOUR LIVES:

Refuse to pass any continuing resolutions (let alone a budget) that provides ANY funding for Obamacare whatsoever.

Let Democrats explain why they are holding the country hostage for a bill a majority of Americans oppose. Repeat that talking point over and over like a mantra until they give in.

Don’t fall for this “Obama will never sign anything that defunds Obamacare” crap. Put enough political pressure on him, and the coward will do anything you want.

Just show that you’re men and not cowards.

Their numbers grew and they pushed the “moderate muslim” meetings to an off nite. And both of those guys were pissed.

Have to let kenya care play out.

We will all suffer. One of the items not even covered by the lib azzhats is the layoffs going on in hospitals and clinics. It’s running up to the millions countrywide. Not seen or heard a word about it.

Many of the laid off are “moderates”. I’m sure many voted for the kenyan since Romney only cared about money.

Let the union stooges and government workers walk right into their “seperate but equal” medical facilities. A couple of months of people waiting hours and hours for a doctor while the
illegal aliens breeze right in should really raise some tempers.

People will die and countless health care workers will retire but in the end the issue will be forced rather than bankrupting the country by a slow and painful process as the regime wants it to.

They’ll never admit it. They’ll just blame their failure on conservatives like they’re doing with the fall of Detroit.

“Obamacare is an example of great legislation that was ruined by conservative opposition.”

What a load!

Lone Star on July 24, 2013 at 8:24 AM

What keeps the democraps “viable” is the free propaganda services supplied by innumerable leftist communications and entertainment media.
