Bust: The numbers behind Detroit’s road to doom

David Freddoso, proprietor of the great Conservative Intel and columnist for the Washington Examiner, went to town on the nation’s biggest-ever municipal bankruptcy today, laying out on Twitter exactly what got Detroit where it is, what misguided tools city officials used to try fixing it, and the very real damage to a region and its people that a giant, failing city causes.

Melissa Clouthier read my mind and put his tweets into Storify, so we can enjoy them all in one place. It’s such a poignant assessment of the facts and the consequences of truly heinous policy decisions, I thought I’d let him have the floor. Follow him on Twitter, @freddoso.

On Friday, noted hard core liberal Bob Beckel on The Five on Fox actually had a few moments of revelatory clarity. With complete sincerity said that for decades liberals/progressives have pushed and supported policies that have been utterly destructive to blacks and the country and they should come clean about. He went on to say that they “had their hearts in the right place”, but the policies were abject failures and it is time to admit it and work to undo the policies.

Detroit is the object lesson behind the road to he11 is paved with good intentions.
