Life Under Obamacare

posted at 8:31 am on July 13, 2013 by Jazz Shaw

I’ll confess that I’ve been a bit skeptical of the entire “crowdsourcing” thing thus far, as many internet fads seem to be little more than that… fads. But with a few hot funding efforts (even in the world of man powered helicopters) even I had to admit it was worth a second look. If you can raise money and interest at sufficient levels to have a bicyclist take to the air, maybe you could wake the public up to the impending disasters of Obamacare, right? The NRCC seems to have gotten off their collective butts and tried to give it a shot.

We’re asking Americans from all backgrounds – women, families, seniors, workers – to tell their story about how ObamaCare’s higher premiums, sky-rocketing taxes, and reduced care are hurting them. Via Pinterest, users can share their own stories about how the ObamaCare nightmare has turned into their reality. In the lead up to the House vote next week to also delay the individual mandate, we’ll be sharing these cataloged stories under the hashtag #DelayMyMandate.

A quote sent to us from the NRCC on this project.

“The NRCC is continuing to use innovative tools to communicate with Americans. This unfair delay in the ObamaCare mandate gives us a unique opportunity to ask Americans across the country how ObamaCare and its mandates, regulations and taxes are hurting them and their families – and we’re giving them the microphone to tell their own story.”

Regular readers are no strangers to the stories we’ve already told about how this dysfunctional implementation of a dysfunctional, “comprehensive” bill is affecting regular Americans – even union workers – but it seems as if the recent delays in implementation have provided the impetus for people to begin gathering their own tales of how this is affecting them. And with the NRCC’s new initiative, you can join in.

Have you seen your own premiums going up and covered benefits going down? Are you an employer who has been forced to make unpleasant choices in order to comply with new mandates? Or, perhaps, you’re just worried about what’s going to happen to your ability to pay your rent or mortgage after the individual mandate kicks in. Sign on and share. It’s not like it’s going to cost you anything. And if you’re on Twitter, use the hashtag, #DelayMyMandate.

We’ll be watching. Get off the sideline and help out.

and how about a national ad campaign that outlined the downfalls of Obamacare in 2009(premium increases, fewer doctors, death panels, not being able to keep your plans, taxes, unmanageable, etc) and how each of those are now coming to fruition, making sure everyone knows this legislation was brought upon us by the Party of Stupid. They need to own this thru the mid-terms.

hillsoftx on July 13, 2013 at 9:19 AM

Here is what is scary. I post Obamacare “problem” stories on my fb page from time to time. Two years ago I would get numerous responses. Lately I get none. I basically make a middle class income and my original PPO plan is no longer available and the decreased benefit plan (at a higher cost) I have now will dissapear in 2015. Most of the seniors, youngsters, union workers and lower income people I know on fb are unaware of what is coming and seem to be waiting for something to materialize and save the day. They don’t want to hear the truth. It’s going to be ugly and it’s going to be too late when they realize it. That is and has always been the plan.

Um, sure. It’s not going to cost you anything…

“We’ll be watching” also applies to the IRS. Any small business who complains out loud can also probably expect to be audited. Or maybe I’m just being paranoid. I mean, it would be unethical for the IRS to do that, right?

When people in their 20′s (my children’s age) see that the mandated coverage costs them 1/3rd of their annual salary and that they can’t buy just catastrophic coverage anymore, they will want to know who to blame. Sadly, the MSM will tell them to blame the GOP and many of them will.

Companies slowed hiring due to ZeroCare ™ and now the double whammy. They are holding off hiring until they can get some of those cheap H1-B, H2-B and provisional immigrants.

Everything our socialist elites do hurts the economy. What a bunch of ignorant rejects. (With few exceptions)

There are probably endless stories of how obamcare screwed regular voters and citizens all over the country. Problem is we have an administration/MSM who just don’t care if you lost your job because your employer only hires part timers now. And, at half of what he was paying before and you had to look for something else or you now have to work two jobs for the same reason.
It may not matter about the stories since we have a regime/MSM that does not care. After all they obey only the laws they like and if they don’t get what they want they EO it into law.
We truly have outlaws runing the govt. and they will not stop for anything, anyone until they get what they want–total destruction of the US.

Difficultas_Est_Imperium on July 13, 2013 at 10:26 AM

The problem is that the uninformed, of all types , still think the magic is coming in December or January. My in law was just telling me that her deadbeat mother, 63yo, was waiting for the magic Obamacare policy to kick in, in 6 months, that would allow her to finally go to the doctor. She suspects she is diabetic, blah blah blah but she is and has been uninsured, so has let her health go to pot.
Yikes.
My in law is upper, upper middle class.
They are under the impression that there is some bridge policy that will totally take care of deadbeat momma. Nothing can convince otherwise.

ORconservative on July 13, 2013 at 10:42 AM

First open enrollment after barkycare passed premiums doubled. Small company. Nobody could afford it. Been without insurance ever since.

I posted it on the site. Probably makes little difference, but what the heck..

I have my own plan. I’m not going to comply. I will not go to any “exchange”.
I will not comply with the individual mandate. I will not pay a fine for not buying something I can’t afford because I haven’t had a raise since Bush was POTUS.

I simply won’t file.

I am in my 60′s and was at doc for yearly check this week. He told me that based on new Best Practices Guidelines under Obamacare, PSA test is to no longer be considered valid screening for Prostate Cancer. He said that they will allow for the continuation of the test up till age 69 but after age 70 the test will no longer be allowed. This means death for men above 70 as there is no other test and based on what he told me the finger wave is not a good way to test for the potential undetected cancer at an early stage. They literally want to kill older people early to save money. I do not care how old you are now but this will eventually effect you and should thoroughly piss you off!

It’s not really all that serious of a post, on a serious subject. Jazz even states so, to his credit. It’s about “crowdsourcing”. Not barkycare per se.

Tweet the NRCC?

About as effective as what KA2 was poking fun at. Urinal ads.

Wouldn’t you agree?

wolly4321 on July 13, 2013 at 12:58 PM

Here is another qoute from my Doc. If you live obamacare will take credit. If you die you were just old.

UncleZeb on July 13, 2013 at 1:22 PM

Oh, I’m pissed off too, Unclezeb. Not so much for me but for my Mom. I totally understand your frustration.

I believe Jazz’s point is more about how we effectively display our frustration. I took his advice, posted to the site he provided. But like him I am skeptical of what it is worth.

I think his point may be,, take the time to b!tch there. Like he said,, it’s free.

Take the time to do it. Nothing to lose.

wolly4321 on July 13, 2013 at 1:34 PM

Holy sh!t,, I’m defending Jazz…something is terribly wrong ¿

30 million uninsured before HellCare passed. After implementing (as of today’s version of implementation) HellCare 30 million people still uninsured.
