Texas police confiscate jars of urine, feces, paint from abortion bill protesters at state house

posted at 8:01 pm on July 12, 2013 by Mary Katharine Ham

Our intellectual betters and self-proclaimed civility police came to the Texas state house today ready to make their point, with poop:

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) today received information that individuals planned to use a variety of items or props to disrupt legislative proceedings at the Texas Capitol.

Therefore for safety purposes, DPS recommended to the State Preservation Board that all bags be inspected prior to allowing individuals to enter the Senate gallery, which the State Preservation Board authorized.

During these inspections, DPS officers have thus far discovered one jar suspected to contain urine, 18 jars suspected to contain feces, and three bottles suspected to contain paint. All of these items – as well as significant quantities of feminine hygiene products, glitter and confetti possessed by individuals – were required to be discarded; otherwise those individuals were denied entry into the gallery.

The left predictably dubbed the sweeps #tampongate, because of course Republican lawmakers just long to ban unused feminine hygiene products, not prevent being doused in excrement.

Or, you know, other bodily fluids, which a CNN correspondent reported were a concern:

I can’t imagine that kind of behavior from this crowd, can you?

Real life.

MARCH 6–An Oklahoma woman arrested Monday on drug charges had a loaded handgun hidden in her vagina, according to police.

The weapon was discovered during a search of Christie Dawn Harris, 28, by a female officer with the Ada Police Department.

Rumors had persisted earlier Friday that some protesters had tried to bring such containers into the gallery, but DPS officers outside the gallery said they had no knowledge of such attempts at the time.

The DPS issued a press release on what it had found so far:
***********************************************************

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) today received information that individuals planned to use a variety of items or props to disrupt legislative proceedings at the Texas Capitol.

Therefore for safety purposes, DPS recommended to the Texas Senate that all bags be inspected prior to allowing individuals to enter the Senate gallery, which the Texas Senate authorized.

In the interest of the safety and security of Texas legislators and the general public, these inspections will continue until the conclusion of Senate business.

to let people bring in pads and tampons.

As a society, we are far too tolerant of moronic leftist protest and vandalism. These people should be given some serious jail time for flinging poo like two years in prison. We should also start giving graffiti artist serious jail time plus $100,000 fine. As an alternative we could the excellent approach of Singapore to this issue.

thuja on July 12, 2013 at 8:23 PM

Clearly, almost 50% of the population are totally nutz or willing to be paid to act nutz.
(Of course, the exact percentage is difficult to determine due to the voter fraud that was so rampant in the last election [114% of the vote of some urban precincts of went to Nobama, with many urban precincts going 100% for the same loser-in-real-life, first time in the history of voting]). *rant over*

Since these folk are so fond of their excrement, I think they should take it back home with them when they leave. Tag it and bag it when it’s taken, and then give it back. If their DNA-attached excrement shows up some place else after they leave, arrest them for leaving contaminates on public grounds. It should be really ripe by the time they take it back.

“Today the Texas Legislature took its final step in our historic effort to protect life,” said Gov. Rick Perry who will sign the bill into law in the next few days. “This legislation builds on the strong and unwavering commitment we have made to defend life and protect women’s health.”

Lt Gov. Dewhurst had DPS clear the gallery to finish the vote.

Vote was 19-11

“As Democrats continue to talk about their dreams of turning Texas blue, passage of HB2 is proof that Texans are conservative and organized and we look forward to working with our amazing Republican leadership in the Texas Legislature as they finish the special session strong,” a party statement said.

Cecile Richards, the daughter of former Gov. Anne Richards and president of Planned Parenthood, said Texas Republicans and abortion opponents won this political round — but it could cost them down the road.

“All they have done is built a committed group of people across this state who are outraged about the treatment of women and the lengths to which this Legislature will go to take women’s health care away,” she said.

The dedication of those activists will be tested during the 2014 elections. Democrats have not won a statewide seat in Texas since 1994, the longest such losing streak in the nation...”

http://news.yahoo.com/texas-repubs-pass-abortion-bill-dems-vow-fight-061400258.html

workingclass artist on July 13, 2013 at 9:10 AM

“The bill would ban abortion beginning at 20 weeks after conception, unless the woman’s health is in immediate danger. It would require doctors performing the procedure to have hospital-admitting privileges within 30 miles and for abortions to be performed in ambulatory surgical centers.

The bill also required a doctor to be present when a woman induces an abortion by taking a pill.

(My comment: This part means there will be a crackdown on Flea Market abortions in the valley…imho)

The restrictions approved Friday would be among the nation’s toughest and are part of a widespread effort to chip away at abortion rights at the state level.

In the first six months of this year, a total of 47 line items restricting abortion have been enacted in 18 states, according to the Guttmacher Institute, a New York-based research group that supports abortion rights. Perry’s signing of the Texas legislation would bring the 2013 count to 52 restrictions in 19 states.

That midyear tally is the second-highest of all time, surpassed only by 2011, when 80 line-item restrictions were enacted in 19 states.

With the governor’s signature, Texas would become the seventh state to require doctors performing abortions to have admitting privileges at a local hospital, and the 28th to require abortions to be performed in ambulatory surgical centers.

The state also joins a growing number that require the doctor to be in the same room as a woman planning to induce abortion by taking a pill, effectively prohibiting the practice of telemedicine. Missouri adopted a similar restriction Friday, with Democratic Gov. Jay Nixon allowing the Republican-backed legislation to become law without his signature.

Much of the momentum for the restrictions is occurring in states where Republican majorities control legislatures, said Elizabeth Nash, state issues manager for the Guttmacher Institute…”
