CNN airs courtroom image of George Zimmerman’s address, social security number

posted at 4:01 pm on July 1, 2013 by Allahpundit

Via Twitchy and Mediaite, the excuse will be that it was an accident, that they were caught by surprise when unredacted personal information was shown in court. Maybe. They know not to air images of the jurors, they know not to air grisly photos of the crime scene, but apparently they don’t know that sometimes police reports with people’s vital info are shown onscreen in court during trials.

Here’s the thing: Even if this shot is accidental, the only reason the proceedings are on TV to begin with is because the media’s obsessed with the idea that Zimmerman committed a racial atrocity and must be punished for it. Trials typically don’t get saturation coverage because the facts are interesting and tragic and there’s a legit dispute as to whether the prosecution’s or defense’s story of what happened is true. They get saturation coverage because there’s an obvious innocent victim/diabolical defendant dynamic that the media’s interested in. From the beginning, with the Times pushing its “white Hispanic” description of Zimmerman, the press has strained hard to make the Trayvon Martin shooting a passion play about whites treating black life cheaply in modern, post-civil rights America. As terrible as the prosecution’s witnesses have been thus far, there is no scenario — zero — in which most of the press concludes that acquittal on the murder charge is just rather than unjust. Zimmerman must be guilty, morally if not legally. Progress demands it. Against that backdrop, why be surprised that CNN would show his social security number onscreen? The cameras are there because the press has issued its verdict. Intentional or not, this is part of the sentencing phase.

Intentional or not, this is part of the sentencing phase.

Zimmerman can’t be sentenced until he is convicted. If there is no guilty verdict yet, he can’t be sentenced.

Something tells me that this trial is the inverse of the OJ Simpson case, where Simpson was guilty in the eyes of most observers, but was acquitted because he was a famous black football player.

Zimmerman may be an innocent victim who shot his way about of being beaten unconscious, but he has become a poster boy for white-on-black crime.

With his Social Security number all over CNN, even if Zimmerman is acquitted, identity thieves will clean every last penny out of his bank accounts.

From previous Z thread… The race-bating troll posted…

Oh and I dare you Zimmerman defenders to listen to his interview with Sanford police after the shooting:
1. They catch him in lies
2. They poke holes in his story
3. He clearly admits he racially profiled Trayvon.

libfreeordie on June 28, 2013 at 1:50 PM

And…

Again, listen to the unedited interview between Zimmerman and Detective Serino. It is powerfully damning.

libfreeordie on June 28, 2013 at 2:06 PM

Well, today all of those interviews were played for the jury. None of these three things came out. So there must be some blockbuster hidden interview yet to come that no one knows about. Or not.

Even lead investigator Serino’s “challenge” interview, where he tried to trip up Z and catch him in significant inconsistencies and lies. He even told Z that the whole thing was caught on video on TM’s cell phone, deliberately lying to Z. Z’s response … “Great!” Serino said he really didn’t have much to challenge Z with but held the “challenge” interview because he was getting outside pressure.

Prosecution on direct did not even bother to ask Serino what his own conclusions were after his investigation.

O’Mara has just begun cross, but wrapped the day up asking Serino if he thought Z was telling the truth. Serino’s reply … “Yes”. More cross tomorrow.

Because the prosecution decided to try to preempt the defense by presenting all of these interviews with LE, Z may not need to take the stand in his own defense. The jury just heard four interviews with Z, including a video taped walk through and recreation. Whatever inconsistencies there were were deemed minor by Serino and about what he would expect… unless Z was a “pathological liar”. Serino does not think he is a pathological liar.

Want a sample of “intellectual dishonesty”? How about this statement regarding Serino’s interview…. “It is powerfully damning”. Serino himself apparently didn’t think so.

The prosecution is practically presenting the defense’s case for them.

CNN airs courtroom image of George Zimmerman’s address, social security number

Scum-sucking Libtards…

Dr. ZhivBlago on July 1, 2013 at 7:22 PM

Some analysis on cross of Serino, about the “powerfully damning” interview(s) he had with Z. Z did not request an attorney during any of these interviews and he did not refuse to answer any question.

Zimmerman was always completely cooperative, open, and straightforward with all the police investigators over many weeks of multiple interviews, both in person at the police station and phone. The sense given is that Zimmerman demonstrated endless patience.

O’Mara noted that Serino was leading an investigative team, gathering and sharing evidence ,that included all levels of the Sanford Police Department up to the Chief, and even members of the 18 Circuit State Prosector’s office. Asked if there was ANYTHING that Zimmerman had said that contradicted the wealth of evidence possessed by Serino, the Investigator answered, “No, sir.” No physical evidence, no witness evidence, no officer statements, nothing? “No, sir.”

In fact, noted O’Mara, the evidence Serino had all fit into a self-defense theory, and Serino agreed that it did, and that his information supported self-defense. Serino would note this in the normal course of an investigation because in addition to investigating crime it was also his charge to investigate defenses, including self-defense…

There were also external concerns about racial profiling that he was required to get clarified.

Serino agreed that at no time had Zimmerman ever expressed, ill-will, hatred, or spite toward Martin…

Much more at link.

The MSM, the BGI, and the lefties are developing the narrative they will use if Z is found not guilty. It will be on a techincality — reasonable doubt. In our brave new politically-correct multi-cultural Orwellian doublethink country reasonable doubt will be considered an unreasonable technicality. So Z will still be considered guilty.

The Media is the enemy.

Their overt advocacy of anything and everything that is harmful to the nation is not accidental or un-intentional.
It is planned, coordinated and executed.
Think of nearly any problem in the country, then ask yourself what is the position of the Media in terms of that problem.

justltl on July 1, 2013 at 8:12 PM

It is a standard ploy of the Left to use their adversary’s rules and standards against them.
They couldn’t give a rat’s rear end about the First Amendment. They use it as a tool- a means to an end.
That in part explains why they feel perfectly comfortable trying to stifle Limbaugh, Fox News or any other outlet that opposes their viewpoints or is just plain truthful. Truth to them is like sunlight to a vampire.
And if there is any doubt how little regard they actually have for the First Amendment, witness their “concern” for the guy who is in jail after making that Mohammed video.

Cindy Munford on July 1, 2013 at 7:41 PM

No legal analyst I know of thinks this judge will drop the charges. This is a show trial. Florida’s “courageous truth and justice seeking” legal system is doing it the coward’s way. They will dump it all on the jury. This is what a railroading looks like.

IIRC, the defense has asked the state to conceal the identity of the jurors for six months and the judge agreed.

However, jury intimidation could bring in a guilty verdict. TM’s parents have spent a lot of their time looking angry in court. The term “death stare” has been used a lot when describing the demeanor of TM’s parents in court. A lot of threats have been posted on Twitter. The witness that testified on Friday and whose testimony supports Z’s account wanted to testify anonymously and has said he fears for his own and his family’s safety.

You’re moniker is a joke. You don’t know what liberalism means.

Serino agreed that at no time had Zimmerman ever expressed, ill-will, hatred, or spite toward Martin, and indeed had seemed shocked when informed that Martin had died, exclaiming, “He’s dead?”

When asked by Serino if Zimmerman would have acted in the same manner if Martin had been white, Zimmerman said he would have. When asked by O’Mara if Serino believed him, Serino answered, “Yes.”

the Investigator pretended to have some [surprise damning evidence] ready to spring. They had discovered, he said, video footage of the events that evening. “And what did Zimmerman say when you told him that?” “He said, Thank God,” Serino answered.

Call me cynical, but I suspect that Obama, Holder, Jarrett and Company are just salivating over the prospect of:

Zimmerman found innocent > Blacks react violently against whites > Whites respond in kind.

And if anyone actually thinks for an instant that Obama, et al give a hoot about Blacks, they are sadly mistaken. They care only about “transforming” (read: “destroying”) the nation as we have known it.

justltl on July 1, 2013 at 8:57 PM

Just imagine if, rather than instituting socialism, actively promoting racial division and the destruction of the nation, Obama had unleashed the economic engine of this country and enlisted the full participation of blacks.

Imagine if the First Lardass Of The United States had made her cause rectifying the social destruction of the black community that has been wrought by liberalism.

And rather than a legacy of forever being equated with Nero, Obama would have been hailed as a truly great President.

In the words of Louis Armstrong, “what a wonderful world” it might have been.

Michael Skolnik? LOL. Family friend, or something, to the Martins and frequent screaming lib on HLN’s Jerry Springer-like liberal screech-fests.

I’m sure the prosecutor will be very interested in hearing about all of the things he missed and failed to ask Serino on direct about the lies and significant inconsistencies in Zimmermans’ statements to LE. That is, the ones that Skolnik has identified and thinks are really, really important.

Yeah, Skolnik, “Political Director to Russell Simmons”, is a real legal heavy weight. Someone clue Bernie de la Rionda in, just in case he doesn’t already run everything by Skolnik before heading into court. Bernie must not have seen the keen, insightful, deep, and penetrating analysis Skolnik posted on Sunday on Global Grind — “an online resource for all things ‘Hip-Pop’” — before he put Serino on the stand today. Maybe he can recover and use it on re-direct tomorrow. I’m sure that will remove whatever reasonable doubt the jury might still have after six days of weak prosecution witness testimony. That is, if they ignore all of the testimony the state’s witnesses gave that backfired on cross and that supports the defense.

BTW, posting links without commentary or excerpts in a limp lame attempt to make a point of some kind, expecting others to then sift through all that is there to try to find whatever point there must be in there somewhere, is “intellectually dishonest”

Even (and especially) the judicial system got snookered on this one. This was the closest thing to “white on black” crime the left could find to feed their zombie base and they had the twofer of gun control. Didn’t matter there was really nothing worthy of spending courtroom tax dollars on, the base was nicely whipped up. It was either show trial or riot gear.
Even a rookie cop has seen a clever man attack and feign victim simultaneously. That’s why I’m sure it’s Trayvon’s voice screaming help. As he’s on top pounding. He got a great jump and brought fists of hate into play (ooh I’m sorry, are we still not at the point of an honest debate on racism?-show me the story. Any story of black racism. Ever. Anywhere… guess we’re still not ready then)This dog had the size, and the fight, and the jump. Serves the cracker right.
Now it’s a complete shambles. Should have known. You can’t script this! This isn’t reality tv! Now the riot gear lockers are open. For all we know Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson won’t even wait for deliberation. They’re losing even the narrative on this one. They need Southern Poverty Law-Spring. And they’ll demand it soon.
