California school district using grant money to train students as “messengers” for ObamaCare

posted at 5:01 pm on June 30, 2013 by Erika Johnsen

As Allahpundit noted yesterday on the news that librarians are going to start being requisitioned into the service of promoting ObamaCare on behalf of the woefully unprepared federal government, a logical conclusion would be that all manner government employees can be enlisted to help with whatever tasks the ruling administration has on their main agenda, as a sort of resource pool that can be directed at the administration’s discretion. So, hey — why don’t we just start conscripting public school children while we’re at it?

It seems that California never tires of leading the righteous and progressive charge on totally awesome new ideas for more top-down bureaucracy, and they are of course the ones trying out this bold and innovative messaging strategy. The Los Angeles school system, apparently, is planning to use a state grant program to promote ObamaCare, part of which will go toward teaching students to become “messengers” for the law:

The Heartland Institute first reported on the grant, one of $37 million in state grants announced in May by Covered California, the state’s health insurance exchange.

Of that, $990,000 was awarded to The Los Angeles Unified School District.

A brief synopsis of the grant says it would be used for “outreach calls” to families and “adult-student class presentations.” But it also states as an objective: “Teens trained to be messengers to family members.” …

A spokesman for the district also told the institute that teens will be part of a “pilot” program to see if they can be trained to “deliver outreach and limited education to family and friends in and around their homes.”

I remember volunteering at a polling place on election day to fulfill a required civics assignment back when I was in middle school — in my county, I believe it was a way the county government worked with public schools to make sure polling places had enough volunteers to keep the place staffed, and give kids a little civic experience at the same time — but this just took that to a whole new level. Here’s your homework for tonight, kids: Educate your parents and neighbors all about the amazing benefits of ObamaCare, because it’s your civic duty!

But, why not, right? These are the future young people with which ObamaCare is going to stick outsized premiums for the sake of subsidizing the entire system and the inherently more expensive risk pools it creates, so let’s get them to help the state and federal governments sell the thing! …For some strange reason that I can’t quite pin down, the word “cannibalization” springs to mind.

It’s a good thing I’m not in school anymore. I would be spending so much time in the principal’s office for telling teachers no when they try to push this stuff down the kids’ throats.

Why not? Democrats and victicrats are superceding parental rights all the time all in the name of “womyn’s health” and “diverse gay rights.”

What could be more diverse than everyone deserving healthcare. Wouldn’t want children to be “bigots” against those who ‘need’ Obamacare.

All of the Central Government propaganda and the conscription on children, librarians, “volunteers”, government workers, sports teams, Hollywood, and corporations for the promotion of the official propaganda is really, really creepy.

It is highly reminiscent of totalitarian governments around the world. This won’t end well.

This is why the public school system must be crushed and completely privatized. The kids will be much better educated, for a lot less tax payer money, and there will be more competition to give parents a choice.

http://www.childrenwarandpropaganda.com :

World war The American Counter-Revolution, as told through American State propaganda to children, was necessary and just. It was not something to fear, not something to condemn; it was a daily duty, inevitable as rain. It was something fought for patriotic goals beyond the practical needs of the heroic soldiers. Those goals involved children, children most importantly, because children were the future. Soldiers sacrificed much, and sometimes all, for that future, but for those to whom much was given, much was required. Children were expected to join an army of their own, the home front army, mobilized for a war that permeated the culture of the kids.

Because the GOP controlled the Executive Branch for 28 out of 40 years between Nixon and Bush 43, they didn’t think it was particularly important that the Left spent that same 40 year period taking over our cultural institutions and brainwashing the youth of America, while older generations of more socially Conservative Americans died off…….”hey, we’re winning lots of elections, so all’s well”.

It didn’t have to be this way. The GOP could have spent the last 40 years fighting tooth and nail to prevent our public schools and universities from becoming Marxist indoctrination centers. They could have pressured Hollywood into being more politically balanced (as it used to be back in the 50′s, when there were patriotic movies as well as movies that were critical of America). And they could have gone to war with the MSM as their Liberal bias became more and more overt.

Instead, they the GOP did nothing. They sat on their hands and allowed our entire popular culture to fall into the hands of people who hate our way of life and want to destroy it.

Progressives have waited for this time a long long time. They knew that you can not win in the ballot box but instead stacking the courts with liberal judges who will favor with them. They also use schools to teach the kids “their way” of think at a early age making them think as they grow up thats the way things are to be.

Given the average level of “education” in Kalifornia, this will work out well. Basically ignorant kids, selling their low-info voter parents on a worthless federal program.

To cap it all off, the state has passed a law that exempts the state from having to say what they actually did with the ‘grant’ money.
