Video: Obama supporters attempt to answer beauty pageant questions

posted at 9:21 pm on June 27, 2013 by Mary Katharine Ham

Enjoy a second schadenfreudy helping tonight as those who fancy themselves your intellectual betters because of their ideology prove to be rather Miss Utah-esque. Mind you, this is a lowered bar from the average “ask ____ about a current event relatively well understood in news junkie circles but about which the Jaywalking average Joe is woefully uninformed” gambit. And yet:

That’s Caleb Bonham for the Centennial Institute, which is holding the Western Conservative Summit in July in Scottsdale and Denver. Guy Benson and I are speaking there, though I’ll be Skyping in to be interviewed by Guy because the doc has cut me off of traveling for the last month of my pregnancy. It’s a great line-up!

Nice second rate visual effects, exactly how Hollywood liberals produced video in the 90′s. This guy might be qualified to clean Spielberg’s pool.

Dumb is forever.

The first lady looked like a Peter Max fan, or maybe a refugee from an H.R. Pufnstuf revival con. Or else someone who pedals around in a human-powered vehicle demanding the abolition of the internal combustion engine.

The one who thought that “Research…maps- no good maps” was the reason 20% of Americans couldn’t find the U.S. on a world map was… unreal. Try Wikipedia, “Miss”.

As for the nearly incoherent guy(?) talking about women getting paid less, I have a hideous feeling he has at least a BA.

As for the jerk who now claims he regrets voting for The One, that’s like the old pilot’s saying;

The four most useless things in aviation are altitude above you, airspeed you don’t have, fuel you’ve already burned, and the emergency strip you passed half-an-hour ago.

I.e., you should have thought of that before “takeoff”, dimbulb.

arnold ziffel on June 27, 2013 at 9:49 PM

this quote translated into English from an article in the Prague newspaper Prager Zeitungon:

The danger to America is not Barack Obama, but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency.  It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president.  The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America.  Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince.  The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool.   It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools, such as those who made him their president.

Almost missed this part, yet more proof that liberals really are for the little guy, because if a simple street video doesn’t have a $300 million production budget then it isn’t worth jack.

I once cruised past Spielberg’s yacht while it was parked in Ft. Lauderdale, it’s a monster. So how many poor people could have their first house if 1%’er Steve were to sell his mega-yacht and use the money to build starter homes?

In a capitalist system, you can’t force individuals to dedicate all of their wealth to serving the public good, even if some, such as Gates and Buffet, have done so.

What you can do, however, is try to inform the public debate around tax rates on people in your 1% income bracket.

And in what context is 50% relevant? You could easily suggest that the economic class that controls 90% of wealth should pay more than 50% of taxes. It’s not my personal belief, but the shock value in the ’50%’ figure is non-existent

One of the biggest myths perpetuated by the right is that what happens at the bottom 20% of the wealth distribution graph is relevant to this country’s financial health. It isn’t.

http://www.businessinsider.com/wealth-and-income-inequality-in-america-2013-4#but-now-lets-look-at-the-reality-22

As the CBO has reported in the latest tax revenue numbers, it was Obama’s minor tax increases on the upper class that will account for most of the surprising fall in US deficit spending in 2013.

It’s not that they are our “intellectual betters”, they just “think” they are with brains with barely the wattage to bring them in out of the rain.

Lily on June 27, 2013 at 10:46 PM

The woman who was declared the “winner” for the second question actually responded in a way that indicates that she understood the question. Saying that “it’s very unfair and very sexist” that women get paid less than men was probably the expected answer in the real pageant. Whether or not you agree with her, that answer was at least responsive to the question.

(Her answer to the first question, that 20% of Americans can’t find the U.S. on a map because “they’re against us,” was just the opposite in that it made no sense whatsoever.)

same here.. knew a young lady who was a self discribed Marxist, and felt no shame at all in telling me, that the masses were little more than fodder to be expended at the pleasure of the ruling party’s elites..

of course, she considered herself one of those wannabe elites..

She couldn’t reconcile that if all republican conservatives were knuckle dragging cave dwellers who hate women and gays… why she found me a “nice” person..

confused her no end..

so she simply told me I was an outlier, and went back to hating the rest of my tribe… or something..

Committed liberals/progressives are the least self aware folks on the planet. Bamm Bamm is a textbook example. I know my IQ, and without giving it away, I know that most can’t keep up. The thing is, my opinion is of no greater weight than anyone’s here.. The factors like experience, wisdom, common sense,.. as well as education matter quite a bit, so I always learn something new when I come here, and aren’t ashamed to admit, there are a large, large number of folks that comment here who are much more thoughtful and wise than I’ll ever be..

I have yet to find a progressive who would make that admission..

They ALWAYS think they are the cream of the crop..

While I never went to college, I graduated with a 4.0 grade average, and in the top 5% in AF basic.. I read at a college level and have since the 5th grade..

and there are many here who still comment at a level way higher than anything I ever wrote. Being a snob just shuts down your ability to learn, and every self admitted liberal without exception in my experience, is a snob.

Masterfully done…

The fact is, the democrat base, IS the stupid vote, when they garner almost all the high school drop outs and pampered kids living off mom and dad.. the reason schools have used their ever growing budgets to dumb down education becomes clear..

When they stopped teaching basics like geography and civics, American History minus the PC crap.. individual states history..

My sis in law, her social studies project was to find social relevance in the Lion King… not kidding..

But she can’t spell a lick.. can’t do basic math, and doesn’t know ANYTHING about our states history or when the Civil War was fought..

But go ahead and ask her about the big lessons in Disney films..

You just feel sick inside..

I read every book in the Junior High, and High School libraries on the History of WW II.. all of them.. on my own, because I wanted too. Now, kids can’t even name the years it was fought in, or the major combatants..

just like Bayam and his party like young voters, clueless “feel good” addicts who will believe anything if they say it often enough..

They ALWAYS think they are the cream of the crop..

mark81150 on June 27, 2013 at 11:49 PM

That’s exactly why leftists are so irony-challenged. They can’t even tell when they contradict themselves, because there was no thought that went into their opinion besides, “how does it make me sound?”

There Goes the Neighborhood on June 28, 2013 at 12:02 AM

I understand the intent is to disparage Obama supporters, but we all know the tragic truth: ignorance in America today spans the length and breadth of the political spectrum. Idiocy seems to be the true equal-opportunity plague of the nation.

Never have more people known so little about the simplest facts of their own existence.

DarthBrooks on June 28, 2013 at 1:33 AM

Give us another one or two Dem election victory cycles and these people will be the cream of the crop of those who will still be voting.

That’s what the libtards say about us except that they just bray and bray about it not understanding what the words mean.

HiJack on June 28, 2013 at 1:52 AM

Like Jonah Goldberg said:

It is a simple fact of science that nothing correlates more with ignorance and stupidity more than youth. We’re all born idiots, and we only get over that condition as we get less young.

That is why young people vote democrat. They are just naturally dumb. There is a reason why people tend to become more conservative as they get older … they get smarter.

Really?

BetseyRoss on June 28, 2013 at 7:09 AM

Anyone that proclaims to be an Obama supporter (in public) at this juncture is a full blown idiot.

ButterflyDragon on June 28, 2013 at 7:54 AM

Did any ask about the stoning talent contest or the evening burqua competition for the beauty pageant in Barky’s native country?

viking01 on June 28, 2013 at 7:58 AM

I don’t think any of the people in this video represent the ‘liberal elite’ that was apparently the intended target.

bayam on June 27, 2013 at 9:44 PM

You had us at “I don’t think”

And really, there’s the problem in all it’s glory.

You’re not even smart enough to be embarrassed by these people whose votes you crave more than oxygen (which you’re obviously not getting enough of).

Well done Rovin!!!

How many knew they were that bad, though?

They need “research” and better maps? How did your GPS get programmed? Maybe by mapmakers doing research? Or did you sleep through Social Studies class?

Steve Z on June 28, 2013 at 9:44 AM

In a capitalist system, you can’t force individuals to dedicate all of their wealth to serving the public good, even if some, such as Gates and Buffet, have done so.

bayam on June 27, 2013 at 10:09 PM

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA (breath) HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

The fact is, the democrat base, IS the stupid vote, when they garner almost all the high school drop outs and pampered kids living off mom and dad.. the reason schools have used their ever growing budgets to dumb down education becomes clear..

When they stopped teaching basics like geography and civics, American History minus the PC crap.. individual states history..

My sis in law, her social studies project was to find social relevance in the Lion King… not kidding..

It’s true that kids these days are not taught basic geography, and tend to trust what they see on computers more than their own common sense, which isn’t so common any more.

A few weeks ago, I was visiting NYC with friends and their teenage daughters, who wanted to walk from the World Trade Center memorial to Chinatown. I knew (from a paper map) that Chinatown was north and east of the WTC site, and since it was late afternoon, I knew that if I faced the setting sun, north would be to my right. The girls’ GPS on their iPhone was disoriented by the tall buildings interfering with the satellite signal, and they started walking south, blindly following the GPS. They would have ended up in Battery Park (and further from Chinatown) if I had not insisted on old-fashioned compass reckoning I learned in Boy Scouts in the late 1960′s.

Don’t we live in a super-sophisticated world, where machines tell us where to go, and teenagers can’t tell north from south? Even the Scouts won’t teach them that these days, but ain’t it great to be gay?

Steve Z on June 28, 2013 at 10:14 AM

The woman who was declared the “winner” for the second question actually responded in a way that indicates that she understood the question.

J.S.K. on June 27, 2013 at 10:49 PM

I think it shows she understood it well enough to parrot the appropriate words and phrases she has been trained to regurgitate. Her eyes were glazed over until she realized she had this response stored away in her memory somewhere, then she delivers it and the relief on her face is obvious and where is her pellet?

As a taxpayer, I demand an apology from every public school teacher in America.
