MSNBC on Voting Rights Act: Clarence Thomas is a symbolic Jew inviting a metaphorical Hitler to commit genocide

posted at 6:01 pm on June 27, 2013 by Allahpundit

Via Mediaite. If you believe Eric Holder is the Moses of our time because he’s the “chief lawgiver of the United States,” I guess you’ll believe this. We should be thankful, at least, for the creativity of the metaphor. Most of the nastier left-wing attacks on Thomas rely on lazy smears of him as an “Uncle Tom” or a “house slave.” If you’re going to go that far, you might as well go full Godwin. No sugar-coating.

Semi-related:

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 51% of Likely U.S. Voters consider radical Muslims to be the bigger threat to the United States today. Thirteen percent (13%) view the Tea Party that way, and another 13% consider other political and religious extremists to be the larger danger. Six percent (6%) point to local militia groups. Two percent (2%) see the Occupy Wall Street movement as the bigger terrorist threat. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

However, among those who approve of the president’s job performance, just 29% see radical Muslims as the bigger threat. Twenty-six percent (26%) say it’s the Tea Party that concerns them most. Among those who Strongly Approve of the president, more fear the Tea Party than radical Muslims.

Part of that latter result is due to simple Pavlovian partisanship, the same way some Obama-haters will answer yes to basically any question that impugns O, no matter how outlandish. But not all of it is. Look at it this way: If you’re someone who doesn’t pay much attention to foreign policy and terrorist groups (as many Americans do not) but does casually consume lefty media and follows domestic politics, why wouldn’t you think the tea party is more dangerous than Al Qaeda? Which group do liberal commentators spend more time ranting about? And of course it goes the other way too. If you asked hardcore Obama-haters if grassroots lefties are a bigger threat than radical Muslims, what percentage would say yes? Maybe not 26, but surely not zero.

Anyway, here’s this cheap demagogue earning his paycheck from MSNBC. Honestly, I don’t know why anyone follows American politics anymore, me included. Who’s edified by gawking at this endless bloody car crash day after day? Time to find another pastime. How ’bout them Pirates?

Well, look at the sunny aspect of this. It took place on the Martin Bashir show where such language and rhetoric is so rarely heard. I mean this was an rhetorical outlier so to speak.

So, cheer up AP.

SteveMG on June 27, 2013 at 6:07 PM

I’m not going to bother. No wonder this network is less popular than a test pattern. Eventually Comcast will pull the plug.

Note you’re not showing clips from “The Five” on FoxNews. They only throw stink bombs now on MSNBC to get BAD coverage.
I read Chris Hayes had a viewership in the key demo group one night recently that totaled 30,000 nationwide. Think about that.

What exactly is a “metaphorical Hitler”? Is it an ersatz leader who sends bad turns of phrase to a “symbolic” gas chamber?

How does one become a “symbolic” Jew? 40 minutes and 40 seconds wandering in the desert? A Magen David tattoo across the forehead?

Ward Cleaver on June 27, 2013 at 6:11 PM

Willing assassins. Un-metaphorically. I’m thinking “Lean Forward” is the ultimate metaphor for these sociopaths. It’s a dare. They’re trying to push each other off the front of the plantation. Very sad. very pathetic.

Nah, sports is better. You root for a team, sometimes they win, sometimes they lose. In sports, winning fixes everything.

I used to root for the GOP. Even when they won, they managed to lose. Now, I don’t even know if winning will fix things.

Best record in baseball for today at least. It’s tough to see another full-blown collapse this year with all that pitching, but it’s always possible with the Bucs.

forest on June 27, 2013 at 6:22 PM

It’s too bad these MSNBC hosts are all of the same ilk. I’d love seeing a liberal analyst get cold-miked and kicked off the show for saying something like this. Let it happen once or twice, and they’ll all straighten up.

If any of them say something similar on Twitter or at a cocktail party, they get fired.

That’ll be the only way to make liberals mind their manners before the public.

I think it’s time for HA to have a perpetual MSNBC open thread. Just stick it in the corner somewhere, update it on occasion, and if anyone desires to chime in, have at it. Because I no longer see any reason to document, on a daily basis, that network’s grade-school histrionics, unless it again becomes relevant. And given its ratings, that will be quite a while.

But in on any issue regarding Israel, you can always be sure they’ll support whoever’s on the other side.

As has been said before, a hallmark of progressives is the ability to hold two diametrically-opposed and mutually-exclusive opinions simultaneously, and claim that they are both absolutely true and are not contradictory.

You don’t necessarily have to be batsh!t f**king insane to be a progressive. But it apparently makes it easier.

Chris Matthews: What Difference Does It Make Why Radical Muslims Do What They Do?

‘I know we’re filled in this country with some strange thinking people, truthers, birthers that have off-the-wall theories (SoRo: like the insane theory that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev might have been motivated by radical Islam). Why is it important? Why is that important to — is that important to prosecuting? I mean, what difference does it make why they did it if they did it?’

– Chris Matthews, 23 April 2013

Speaking of Birthers…

‘But didn’t Hillary dump on Obama a few days ago for playing up his Indonesian roots? So what is she up to here? Is she pushing HOW GREAT HE IS FOR HAVING BEEN BORN IN INDONESIA, or what, or simply reminding everybody of his background, his Islamic background?’

WTF AP?

You’re being just as bad as Kennedy, assuming motivations of malice without any evidence. One needn’t “hate” anyone to comprehend the reasonable argument that radical Muslims would be a manageable problem if not for the leftists kneecapping the military and common sense public safety policy at every turn; opting as they do instead for oppressive politicized tyranny that carefully manages to avoid providing any actual improvement to safety.

Yet there is no cogent leftist argument that the Islamists would be dealt with if not for the Tea Party… so why play their false moral equivalence games here? This post was not your finest hour AP…
