Palin rejoining Fox News as a contributor

posted at 6:41 pm on June 13, 2013 by Allahpundit

She left in January and returns on Monday. With something like seven different Obama scandals now roiling conservative media, it’s a wise moment to reclaim the Fox News soapbox.

“I have great confidence in her and am pleased that she will once again add her commentary to our programming,” Ailes said. “I hope she continues to speak her mind.”

Palin will make her latest debut on the morning show “Fox & Friends,” on Monday. In addition to providing political insight and commentary, Palin will contribute to Fox Business Network.

“The power of Fox News is unparalleled,” Palin said. “The role of Fox News in the important debates in our world is indispensable. I am pleased and proud to be rejoining Roger Ailes and the great people at Fox.”

Per TV Newser, “Palin tested the TV waters in New York and Hollywood, and found interest from other networks, someone familiar with her decision says. Ultimately, however, Fox News offered the best deal in terms of salary and exposure.” Another thing that makes her return right now interesting is that you’re starting to see the Senate GOP polarize between old-school hawks like McCain and new-school libertarian-inclined insurgents like Ted Cruz, and not just on foreign policy either. Before she joined the ticket in 2008 and for a good long while after, she was assumed to be a Maverick-style neoconservative thanks to the fact that Bill Kristol had touted her and that she had retained Randy Scheunemann as an advisor. Things seemed to shift in 2011, and lately, thanks to her strong (and reciprocated) support for Cruz, she seems more aligned with the Cruz/Paul/Lee wing. E.g., I’m guessing McCain probably doesn’t share this sentiment about “boot-stomping” posted to her Facebook page four days ago linking to a Breitbart.com item about NSA’s new high-tech spy HQ:

Boot-stomping govt claims citizen spying never happened then pouts Congress knew all along; Congress denies. Our obtuseness = their strength…

Note to Chris Wallace: McCain famously will appear on virtually any Sunday show that’ll have him and Fox is surely looking for a splashy way to reintroduce Palin to the debate after her TV hiatus. Book them together and make this conversation happen.

“I’ve had several conversations with Governor Palin in the past few weeks about her rejoining Fox News as a contributor,” Mr. Ailes said Thursday. “I have great confidence in her and am pleased that she will once again add her commentary to our programming.”

Looks like Alies reached out to Palin. Guess we find out who has the power in this deal. Palin didn’t care. Alies wanted her back….

Live and unscripted she is a total inarticulate bore.

bluegill on June 13, 2013 at 7:45 PM

1) I think we must have exteremely different ideas on “dolts”. I think the people who don’t know/understand the issues and need constant talking to and massaging in order to influence where they fall on any particular topic are dolts.

People who know their position, who aren’t afraid of their stance, and who don’t try to feed different audiences contradictory positions are not trying to influence “the dolt crowd”.

2) And yet for someone “inarticulate” she has been attacked since her introduction into the national spotlight. Here’s Obama’s 2012 attack ad against her:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=eeaM4t2Ycgk#!

and I remember her being viewed by her opposition as the presidential opponent (vs. VP) for the ’08 campaign. Remember lipstick and pigs?

I doubt she’s being publicly attacked by Obama four years after her VP run because she’s viewed by him/OFA/(D)s as inarticulate or a bore.

By the actions of the President of the United States, I’d say quite the opposite, apparently.

Question to the Palin Haters. Sarah & Ryan were both VP candidates who lost in presidential election. Ryan is still a congressman. Who today would more people pay to hear. I submit it’s Sarah and that it’s 5 years since she last ran.

Communication skills, fearless, tell it like it is are reasons why Sarah is still the most popular conservative woman in the US today. Hech, maybe the most popular in the conservative wing of the party.

This after the Democrats, Obozo & the rino bushie republicans have tried to destroy her.

AH_C on June 13, 2013 at 10:39 PM

Here is my bottom line up front: Palin is right far more times than she is wrong, and is right far more times than most of the current elected GOP leadership. The fact that she has yet another platform to get her views and analysis out there is a GOOD thing.

For those folks who have a problem with her accent, her folksy humor, and her overall presentation, I humbly suggest that you turn the monitor volume down, and just be thankful that she is on the side of conservatives who want to save the country.

As a native Philadelphian raised in Upstate NY, I am good with her Alaskan twang, and would rather listen to her than to stomach one more syllable from some jack wagon in the Northeast or Left Coast who think themselves mightier than the rest of us (and thus more capable of running the country).

She’s no goddess, no saint, no single fountain of all that is good and right, but she is still more effective than so many who secretly wish they had her platform, her raw rockstar power, and her blessings.

Living and loving life, while living rent-free in the minds of statists and haters… Sarah Palin is one fortunate woman.

I love me some Ted Cruz, but I want to see him build a decent Senatorial record before pursuing higher office. Let him learn how to build consensuses without compromising principle, get some legislative wins under his belt, and work out his communication skills to bring non-believers into the fold… once he has the formula down, THEN maybe a White House run would be more doable.

My two cents, and worth every penny! ;-)

Be very careful what you wish for. Palin’s great value is her credibility. She is known to actually believe what she says, and say it bluntly and plainly. We are suffering from (to borrow from Jon Lovitz) an epidemic of bullsh!t and leaders who know we know they are lying to our faces and they do it anyway. To put one of the most honest politicians in America today against one of the most corrupt administrations in US history–yes, I will take that. In a heartbeat.

Congressmen Gosar (AZ-04), Salmon (AZ-05), Schweikert (AZ-06) and Franks (AZ-08) are hosting a Congressional Field Hearing in Prescott, Arizona, on July 1st to discuss the IRS and other abuse scandals and hear directly from their constituents about their concerns with this out-of-control federal government. This is a PERFECT way to kick-off the Fourth of July week and usher in Independence Day!

We need more members of Congress to engage We the People in town hall style meetings to discuss all the government abuse scandals just as they did in 2009 and 2010 with Obamacare. Those Obamacare town halls became a hallmark of the Tea Party movement, and we need that same energy now more than ever. Let the people come together and speak up. Now is the time.

In a Pew poll taken last January, 53% of Americans believed the federal government is a threat to their own personal rights and freedom. Imagine what that percentage would be now that we know more about all of these abuse scandals? A majority of Americans now feel that their government is a threat to their liberty — not just bloated, incompetent, and bankrupt, but an actual threat to their liberty.

I look forward to addressing this justified distrust of our out-of-control Big Brother government at the “Road to Majority” conference in D.C. this Saturday.

Ailes let a lot of pundits go right after the election. It was a demoralizing time. But now, with scandalpalooza pointing at the very real possibility the election was hijacked, he’s hiring the right people back again.

John the Libertarian on June 14, 2013 at 12:44 AM

Look, I don’t like Palin going back to FNC, because Ailes was and remains a reliable Bush ally who will move heaven and earth to make sure that Jeb Bush becomes President in 2016.

He’s also going to try to help the Republican High Dollar Plutocrats flood the streets with cheap Mexican Labor so they can hire people at three dollars and hour instead of the four dollars an hour they are paying illegals now.

Ailes doesn’t give a damn about what Reagan stood for, and I doubt seriously he gives a sh*t about Palin’s welfare. That said, his ratings went down after Palin left, and Palin let him know that she didn’t need his network (which she didn’t), so he offered to pay her what she wanted and let her back on mutually agreeable terms.

Palin got stabbed in the back big time by Ailes in the run up to Romney’s coronation, so this is not something I’m happy about. However, most of her supporters claim that she knows what she’s doing. I’ll have to defer to them.

I for one don’t believe she’s running for office this cycle, and believe that this is another tell.

Nobody runs for office from Fox News Channel. Not with Roger Ailes’ knife sticking out of your back, anyway.

Conjecture on your part. FoxNews is enjoying solidly being in the #1 slot while MSNBC’s numbers have imploded. As pointed out above, the spin was when she left she was going to reach a wider audience than “the choir” of FoxNews’ audience. “He offered to pay her what she wanted.” Prove it. Badger40 on June 14, 2013 at 9:42 AM

With all the scandals around the White House these days, this is a good time to bring Sarah Palin back on Fox News.

She could also bring in her expertise on the issue where she has the most experience: energy development. While she was Governor of Alaska, she was able to prevent a cartel of oil companies from establishing a monopoly on Alaskan oil, set up a system of truly competitive leases on offshore drilling (taxed by the state), negotiate an international gas pipeline with Canada, and wean her state from dependence on Federal subsidies. Her energy-development program could, with appropriate modifications, serve as a model for other energy-rich states which are either developing new energy resources (such as North Dakota, Ohio, and Pennsylvania) or considering new offshore energy development (such as Virginia and North Carolina) or shale oil development (such as Colorado).

One possible downside of Sarah Palin going on Fox News now–does this mean she’s not running for Senate against Mark Begich in 2014?
A state like Alaska deserves two Republican Senators, and Palin could win that seat easily, and given her youth, she could be a US Senator from Alaska for many years to come.

bluegill on June 14, 2013 at 11:01 AM

Supports a path to citizenship, but no amnesty for illegals

Q: Should undocumented immigrants all should be deported?

A: There is no way that in the US we would roundup every illegal immigrant – there are about 12 million of the illegal immigrants – not only economically is that just an impossibility but that’s not a humane way anyway to deal with the issue.

Q: Do you then favor an amnesty for the 12 million undocumented immigrants?

A: No, I do not. Not total amnesty. You know, people have got to follow the rules. We have got to make sure that there is equal opportunity and those who are here legally should be first in line for services being provided and those opportunities that this great country provides.

Q: So you support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants?

A: I do because I understand why people would want to be in America. To seek the safety and prosperity, the opportunities, the health that is here. It is so important that yes, people follow the rules so that people can be treated equally and fairly in this country.

LurkerDood on June 14, 2013 at 12:41 PM

And she’ll be trashed in the General election by the MSM.

Crux Australis on June 14, 2013 at 12:23 AM

Who, other than the Dem candidate, won’t the MSM trash?

Do tell.

Plus, Palin has been trashed by the MSM for Five. Years. Straight.

And yet she’s still standing.

hrh40 on June 14, 2013 at 2:32 PM

I for one don’t believe she’s running for office this cycle, and believe that this is another tell.

victor82 on June 14, 2013 at 12:48 AM

No, she’s not. Her people told us that over a month ago.

http://www.usnews.com/news/blogs/washington-whispers/2013/05/10/no-sarah-palin-is-not-running-for-senate—at-least-not-now

But she is planning to help others get elected in 2014, as she did in 2010 and 2012:

WAVES TO GULCHERS

Are we moving???

Opinionator on December 2, 2013 at 2:13 PM

The Gulch page is being difficult to load. Y’all might want to move. Looks like the Gulch might be full. It opens with ease if you go to the search page and hit it anew. Yes, so far as I know this is the backup to the backup. ; )

Bmore on December 2, 2013 at 4:40 PM

LOL

This feels cozy ;)

Did we jump to 84??

Opinionator on December 2, 2013 at 6:25 PM

Hmmmmmmmmmm, glances around…

Needs a good sprucing up does this!!

I reckon this will work well, cuz it is very difficult to get into the Gulch ):

Kinda reluctant to leave there but, I reckon between all us Ladies and a few of the Guys, we can have this place ship shape and bristol fashion lickety split! :)

Let me use my magical broom and sweep and dust for starters!

( creates a dust storm ) cough cough!!

Opens windows to let in fresh air

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh it fair sparkles in here now!!

BBL to do a bit more :)

Scrumpy on December 2, 2013 at 8:11 PM

Wow, Scrumpy, the place looks fabulous already!

Hope you don’t mind but I shut the windows and brought some wood from out back to start a fire in the fireplace. (was getting a little chilly in here)

I’m going to sit by the fire with a glass of wine and warm up a bit.

looks great and cozy! :)

Furnishings will be in later, comfy couches and easy chairs and a few recliners, and books for the bookcases round the fireplace :)

Scrumpy on December 2, 2013 at 10:14 PM

Oh and did you see the dining table in the dining hall!!

Massive!! we will all fit I think…

I think I will leave the kitchen up to fallon and OP, I am sure they will fix it up with all the latest gadgets etc!!

Scrumpy on December 2, 2013 at 10:16 PM

phew, exhausted!

movers moved alot of stuff from the gulch to here, so it’s coming along :)

Alrighty then…

I am done here for now!!

Catch ya all on the flip side ;D

Scrumpy on December 2, 2013 at 10:57 PM

Hey Gang :)

I view this as simple Gulch expansion. All the buildings, the lodge, cabins, pool, outdoor kitchen, hammocks, pond, the coast, yachts, barn, garage with shops, golf course and park, bunker, bbq and bonfire zones, all the animals and all of our belongings and ETC. are already here! We’ve just added even more room for expansion :)

We did really need to clean, though, so thanks everybody for pitching in – and for the fire and wine, wolvy.

What say we have a partay to celebrate our new room to breathe. . .and think about some Christmas decorations?

I brought several pots of narcissus which should be blooming just before Christmas.

We need to all be on the same page, though. Are we 84 or 81???

Opinionator on December 2, 2013 at 11:35 PM

Now even the search page trick has stopped working for me. 404 message. I left Fallon a note there, she isn’t happy. When she shows up here tell her I found my old Duncan Whistler. Maybe it will cheer her up. Sorry to say I won’t be round much. See y’all when I do finally return? ; )

Bmore on December 3, 2013 at 8:48 AM

Will do, Bmore. I was going to tell you I also got white outs with Google – and did so over ‘there’ this a.m. I got a 404 when I last tried to access after that..

I daresay we’ll be here when you get back. Safe and successful travels.

Opinionator on December 3, 2013 at 12:10 PM

*Cleans all coffee pots.*

The chefs have hot tea, cider and hot chocolate ready. Coffee will have to wait.

There’s lots of turkey and fixin’s for sandwiches in the frig.

Opinionator on December 3, 2013 at 2:20 PM

( looks around )

Oh wow, looking good!

I guess this our new home from here on out :)

Knowing that when we hit page 81 on thru, it causes issues, then once we reach that limit here, we simply move forward!!

Lots of places to ‘hide’ out ;D

Good to have another “Home”!!

God Bless everyone :)

Repost rom the old Gulch:

The one cup thingy is filled with water for anyone who’d like a cup of coffee. It looks like the backup Gulch is being tended to lovingly. I’ll be here in a few days. I’m gonna stay at the old Gulch until we tip it over one more time for good measure.

IRL – I’m working on three campaigns, U.S. senate, one state rep and one out of district U.S rep for a great candidate. I’m also giving some time to a gubernatorial candidate. None of them are shoe-ins, so if I can, I want to make a difference in their campaigns. I’ve been watching granddaughter all day and going to meetings at night, so I’m a bit tired and cranky. Sorry for my temper tantrum yesterday.

Bmore, your Duncan Whistler is amazing. ;-)

I was really good at getting the string on the old Duncan yo-yo’s tangled up. One of my brothers was pretty good at learning the various tricks. I would just hand him my yo-yo and ask for help, lol.

I’ve brought my typos and goof ups over early. Grrr… th.

Fallon on December 4, 2013 at 8:40 AM

Mornin’ Gulchers :)

It’s a beautiful, icy morning in the Gulch! If anyone needs more covers to snuggle under when they sleep, I ordered a drone load of CA King sized down comforters in every color of the rainbow – and that’s a lot! – on cyber Monday. Our Kobe’s and the other animals got some too, of course. We have a little duck and goose down left over from Thanksgiving but it wasn’t enough for comforters. However, Christmas is coming, and you just might find down mittens in your stockings!

I’m in comment building mode (we still need to reach 100 pages by New Years!) and need to wake up, so I will this once risk making coffee for us. I know it’s not like normal, but it is Kona a friend actually grew on the island of Hawaii. She sent it to us with love. Don’t forget we have lovely add-ons like vanilla and cocoa powder in both coffee hutches.

I’ve made a roaring fire in the hearth and a nice Bourguignon is simmering on the stove. We have leftover mashed potatoes and home made sourdough bread from Thanksgiving. Life is very, very good.

Opinionator on December 4, 2013 at 12:23 PM

Speaking of Thanksgiving, I’d like to thank our HA Hosts for providing multiple click locations we may call Home! I doubt any blog/web designer could have ever anticipated this type of loyalty and staying power on a single thread. That ‘most’ made it to around 80 pages without serious difficulties is quite amazing.

Kudos to Hot Air and thank you!!!

Opinionator on December 4, 2013 at 12:29 PM

Fortunately, a single thread can expand to form an even richer tapestry over time.

I remember Dorothy clicking her ruby slippers together and repeating, “There’s No Place Like Home”. We are only a click away from connecting with each other. It’s very nice to be able to do so without a lot of lost time and grief!!

I know I learned how hard I would work just to reach you Guys.

The Gulch is whatever click we call home, and the archives offer almost endless possibilities as Scrumpy said :)))

Fallon, don’t forget your roller coaster is ready for any turn in any location you desire!

My suggestion is, no matter our location, we continue our page count from the last spot, uninterrupted. If Fallon decides it’s 82 over there then it will be 82 over here as well. It’s all the same.

No matter where we click, it’s Home to me.
