Quotes of the day

Amid questions of whether Eric Holder should resign, some Democrats are defending the beleaguered Attorney General by focusing on his responsibility to protect sensitive security information.

The Hill reports that during a May 31 appearance on MSNBC’s “Jansing & Co.,” Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) said Holder should not resign because he “has not in any way broken the law.”

Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) on Sunday defended Attorney General Eric Holder, saying he thought the Justice Department chief would hold onto his job despite GOP calls for his resignation.

“There have been all kinds of accusations, but I haven’t seen anything that would prevent him from doing his job,” Schumer said. “Obviously if there’s wrongdoing we should find out who did it, but the president has confidence in Holder and I believe he’s going to stay.”…

“I don’t think there’s perjury,” Schumer said. “I don’t think any good criminal lawyer would say there’s a scintilla of evidence of perjury.”

“In any given day, our administration has about 2 million employees, and things happen,” [Valerie] Jarrett said. “We put in process procedures to make sure if there has been any wrongdoing, there will be appropriate consequences, and we will move on.”

And even with the scandals at the forefront of daily national news, Jarrett said she had no doubts about the administration’s conduct, and stressed that White House staff are concentrating on moving past the incidents.

“We have every confidence that people within the White House have behaved appropriately,” she said. “People all around the country are counting on us not to get distracted or bogged down by this.”

Even Arianna Huffington thinks that attorney general Eric Holder should resign.

“We’ve called on Holder to resign,” Huffington said on ABC’s This Week. “There’s no way that Holder can continue to do his job.

“This is about the first amendment, this is about freedom of the press,” Huffington added. “The president himself has said that you cannot have journalists being afraid that they’re going to be in the crosshairs of the law while doing their job.… he now has to take a real stand on this.”

***

“It’s hard to have confidence in what this attorney general says or his people say when so often it turns out not to be true.”

I believe that, even if Holder falls on his sword for his King, everything, including Benghazi, damages Obama’s effectiveness for the rest of his presidency.

O/T

I came home on Saturday night just to regroup a little bit, but I’m heading back to NY this morning to my Mother’s bedside. We will be taking her off the respirator and feeding tube today, as explicitly stated in her Living Will. The hospital has a Palliative Care program that is absolutely wonderful. Her sisters and brothers spent the weekend with her, and all of her grandchildren have been there to say goodbye. My brothers and I will all be there.

My son had a near-death experience several years ago, and he described Heaven to us. “We’re all in, Mom” he told me. My Mom loved that story, and she is not the least bit afraid. Please pray that she passes away peacefully with a smile on her face.

Thank you all.

Whatever Barry was doing the night of Benghazi, it must be pretty damaging for them to go to such great lengths to hide it.

Well, I think that is why they are trying to step up their damage control efforts. As I pointed out earlier in this thread, Jarrett doesn’t do morning talk shows and hasn’t actually been seen in public for months. Clearly they are getting the sense that all these Congressional hearings are becoming a little bit like herding cats.

By my count:

Benghazi cover-up

IRS targeting specific groups (expanding from rougue employees to a coordinated effort including the White House staff at a minimum. What did the IRS commissioner do during those 157 visits?

AP phone record seizures. Somebody lied to federal judges.

Rosen investigation. Did Holder commit perjury?

Fast and Furious. The issue over Executive Privilege and Contempt of Congress is not over yet.

HHS hitting up healthcare executives for “contributions” to rescue ObamaCare is clearly illegal.

If the administration doesn’t get it together (and I don’t think they can) the rat-eared coward will be a lame duck by the first year of his second term. The only wildcard is if the Dems can somehow take control of both Houses of Congress in 2014 then all bets are off about what legislation would get through.

Truthfully, it just isn’t what the rat-eared coward was doing 9/11/12. We have two weeks of lies about a YouTube video inciting a spontaneous protest. We have the FBI waiting three weeks before securing the crime scene despite the fact Anderson Cooper was there in a matter of a couple days. We have those 12 versions of talking points that went from accurate to the crap that Susan Rice spewed on five Sunday talk shows. We don’t know why the military was told to stand down or who gave the order. We don’t know why Christopher Stevens death certificate was made out in the name of John Doe or what exactly was the cause of death.

In short, I think the administration made a political calculation that they could ignore the facts about Benghazi and stick with the Arab Spring story that was a key aspect of the election strategy. The truth got in the way of this calculation and since they haven’t come clean the issue is becoming more and more of a scandal for the administration and has perhaps killed Hillary Clinton’s Presidential chances in 2016.

Talk about whistling past the graveyard, the State Department is doing its part to be sure that the latest iteration of immigration “reform” will pass.

ALL of these people are slef-centered COWARDS.

Neither Holder - Nor anyone else in this Administration Will Ever EVER “Fall On Their Sword” under ANY Circumstances….

As evidence: Lois Lerner REFUSED to resign……

THAT WILL NEVER EVER EVER HAPPEN!!!

williamg on June 3, 2013 at 11:12 AM

The very best thing this corrupt administration could do is get rid of Valerie Jarrett. But she’s Barry’s surrogate mama, so that will never happen.

“The IRS simply cannot sustain itself with this overall funding level.”

I see that as a feature, not a bug.
