Open thread: Sunday morning talking heads

posted at 8:01 am on May 26, 2013 by Allahpundit

I figured IRS-gate and Eric Holder’s “difficulties” would be the lead topics this morning. They’re not even in the top three. “Face the Nation” will have Tom Coburn and Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin on to talk tornado; “Fox News Sunday” will look ahead to the Senate’s coming amnesty push with Dick Durbin and Lindsey Graham; and Rand Paul and Michael McCaul will appear on “This Week” and “State of the Union,” respectively, to address Obama’s lame drone speech from Thursday. I guess the political media establishment’s already scandaled out, huh?

They’ll squeeze in a little scandalmania chitchat, I’m sure, between rote recitations about bringing illegals “out of the shadows.” Politico has the full line-up. No “Meet the Press” this morning, as it’s been preempted by auto racing.

esr1951 on May 26, 2013 at 8:14 AM

Talking about the Oklahoma City tornado is certainly important. Disasters of that magnitude do have national consequences, even over and above simple respect for those affected.

Amnesty for “undocumented voters” needs to be discussed. Myself, I’d be discussing it in the context of Boston, Woolwich, the riots and car-be-Qs by “youths” in Sweden, and that young French soldier who was stabbed yesterday evening. (Thank G-d he’s still alive; his attacker shouldn’t be.)

But the MSM’s take on this is mainly

Squirrel! Rabbit! Squirrel! Rabbit!

Wrong Trousers!

/ I threw that last one in for any Wallace and Gromit fans up this early ;-)

Tide of history

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio will appeal a federal judge’s ruling that his agency systematically singled out Latinos in its trademark immigration patrols, marking the first finding by a court that the agency racially profiles people.

Read more: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/05/25/arizona-sheriff-joe-arpaio-to-appeal-ruling-in-racial-profiling-case/#ixzz2UOrPPZKO

Meantime, I have been printing masters for leases, library cards, credit card statements and even various kinds of academic and civic awards to work with the new immigration reforms.

I don’t know how phoney I can make them yet and I have been calling some very pro-Latino establishments to see if they will just verify my stuff for whomever might call.

I also have voter registration forms already filled out.

With the Reagan amnesty, nobody ever checked so I don’t know how sloppy I can be. Gotta keep costs down.

I think their prices are way too high and this is my way of reaching out to illegals to save some poor folks money, move them a bit away from know criminal elements like the Democratic Party and build my own base to get into congress where I belong.

I wonder what they figured out. I know the congress and GOP are as much on guard as the US Navy.

The US Navy on December 6, 1941, that is.

IlikedAUH2O on May 26, 2013 at 8:48 AM

Makes you wonder…are we, as a Nation, going to allow these abuses of power, these clearly tyrannical first steps, go unpunished? Are we really going to just shrug off the fact that so much blood has been shed against such people, married to the same ideology our President and friends worship, only to sit back now and see it all shed in vain? These elected officials abuse power with impunity. Make no mistake, the abuse that has come to light was never meant to be allowed no matter how they twist words to give the illusion that its “ok”, everyone does it!

Do we have our own “Sombra Negra” out there somewhere..is it time? If the law is meaningless, then only brute force survives. Are we about to enter a new age in America?

It seems like the “Fix” is in judging from the Sunday line up…if it is…may God have mercy on us all and may our betters forgive us for not keeping vigilant against such traitorous actions.

Rubio’s history of obstructing immigration enforcement

“The Daily Caller reports that Marco Rubio has a history of opposing enforcement of immigration laws. As Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives, Rubio blocked efforts to deal with illegal immigration at the state or local Miami level.

According to the Daily Caller, the record shows that Rubio used his power as Speaker to block legislation to tighten enforcement even after such legislation had sailed through committee. He even opposed, and thwarted, bipartisan legislation to deport 5,000 illegal immigrant prisoners in Florida jails.

Rubio’s Florida record helps us understand his indifferent attitude towards enforcement in connection with the Schumer-Rubio amnesty bill. As we have noted, Rubio’s position on enforcement is, in essence: maybe there are problems with what I hve proposed, but others can fix them.

I think it’s pretty clear that Rubio isn’t backing amnesty and a path to citizenship reluctantly, as the only way we can attain better enforcement. Instead, amnesty and a path to citizenship are his objectives, with the promise of better enforcement just along for the ride.

The hard-line Rubio took on immigration when he ran for the Senate is an outlier in Rubio’s history on the subject. That’s a polite way of saying that this position was, in all likelihood, fraudulent — a cynical attempt tip appeal to conservatives in his long-shot race against Charlie Crist…”

The HotAir page of Politico is now open for consideration of this week’s Democrat/Media Propaganda shows. Consider:

“Fox News Sunday” on Fox
• Kook lefty
• RINO open borders douche
• Establishment GOP loser

Conservative voices — Zero

“This Week” on ABC
• Libertarian/Conservative-leaner
• Populist douche
• Kook-left partisan
• Milit’ry man
• D.C. uniform model

Conservative voices — one-ish

“Face the Nation” on CBS
• Conservative (I think?)
• Former conservative turned D.C. RINO
• Filthy, lying, Democrat scumbag

“State of the Union” on CNN
• Conservative (I think?)
• Unknown Republican, could be conservative
• Unknown Republican, could be liberal
• Dem liberal

What on earth? Three self-proclaimed Republicans?

“Political Capital” on Bloomberg TV
• RINO douche/liberal

“Newsmakers” on C-SPAN
• Socialist/Democrat

“Meet the Press” on NBC
• Preempted by the Monaco Grand Prix – the only “news source” where liberalism will not be paraded as mainstream thought.

Here’s a blast from the past…look how many scandals and controversies Bill and Hillary were involved in. Not a whole lot happened to them as a result, but there wasn’t a Darrell Issa running investigations back then, either. Just because people aren’t on the talk shows today (it is a holiday weekend, and we know politicians don’t ever skip holidays), doesn’t mean the investigations are going to stop. The president can go on his wag the dog tours all the way till Tuesday, and then it all starts over again.

Philly on May 26, 2013 at 10:14 AM

While the obamedia sticks their fingers in their ears going lalalalalalalala these scandals aren’t going away. We still have an utterly corrupt and nakedly politicized IRS, we still have 4 dead in Benghazi whose families deserve the ugly truth of what happened, we still have the AP and Fox reporters being wiretapped by a corrupt and politicized DOJ, we still have the completely illegal Sibelius shakedown of big insurance, and Gaia knows what’s yet to be revealed on these scandals next. We also know this is probably just the tip of the iceberg.

I’m pretty sure Trey Gowdy and Co need a few days to organize their thoughts before going out for the next round, and a slow news holiday weekend when nobody is watching the sunday shows anyway is a good time to reload.

So many scandals at once… easy to forget one of the ugliest because it hasn’t yet attained critical mass: Extortion 17.

How many Americans have heard of Extortion 17? Extortion 17 was the call sign for the Chinook helicopter shot down in Afghanistan on the night of August 6, 2011. Killed in that crash were 25 special ops forces, including 15 members of Seal Team 6, 5 national Guard troops and 8 Afghans.

Spend a few minutes reading this. Take your blood pressure medication first, if applicable.
