Bad news: NY governor not exactly thrilled about big Weiner comeback

posted at 3:21 pm on May 23, 2013 by Ed Morrissey

Oh, the headlines I could have used for this post!  Unfortunately, Drudge already won the Internet for today:

drudge-weiner

No point trying to top this, especially when the news itself is remarkable enough.  New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, who might want to pursue a run at national office at some point, had tried to refrain from commenting on Anthony Weiner’s attempt at a political comeback in the New York City mayor’s race while Weiner remained uncommitted.  It didn’t take Cuomo long to drop the hammer on Weiner once the disgraced former Congressman made his candidacy official.  In an interview with the Syracuse Post-Standard’s editorial board, Cuomo said that New York should be ashamed if Weiner ended up in Gracie Mansion:

Cuomo: “It’s basically democracy. Those are grownups (in the Assembly) who are picking, who pick their leader.”
Rogers: “So if Anthony Weiner wants to run for mayor, he can run for mayor.”
Cuomo: “He runs? He runs.”
Rogers: “And if we elect him?”
Cuomo: “Shame on us.”

The upside, of course, is that Weiner has one less call to make looking for official endorsements.  The bad news, though, is that there are apparently more selfies that may emerge during the course of the campaign:

Former congressman and newly announced New York mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner (D) said in an interview Thursday morning with WNYC-FM that there could be women coming forward with more e-mails or photos from the inappropriate digital conversations that led to his resignation in 2011.

“It is what it is,” Weiner said. “People may decide they want to come forward and say, here’s another email that I got or another photo. I’m certainly not going to do that. So people may hear things that are true, they may hear things that are not true, but I’m going to try to keep being focused on issues that are important to New York City.”

I wonder if it occurs to Weiner that he’s one of the main obstacles to that focus in this race as long as he remains a candidate?

All the Wiener snark aside…..

Yesterday Megyn Kelley played the clip of her interviewing him a while back, just before his d!ck-pic scandal broke.

Reminded me of what an arrogant little pr!ck the guy was (and probably still is).

If Weiner were in the Navy, would he be considered useless as a seaman?

Heck,

I think liberals are more frustrated than stupid in the area of humor. Despite the sexual revolution, I find they have a lot more hangups than normal healthy people.

That’s why liberals so often seem to need therapists and their drugs.

I know little about the ‘porn industry’, but Weiner couldn’t get past the initial interview, let alone the casting couch.

In any case, I imagine he’ll be a small attraction, a bit player — Even less than was John Bobbitt.

Liam on May 23, 2013 at 4:36 PM

Oh man, you would have to mention cicadas. We’re being overrun by them as we speak….errr…type. I measured the noise level on my deck today at 73db. Everything is covered in them and they’re still coming out of the ground. About 3am I took a stroll out to my shed (I’m old, retired and sleep whenever I want to) and there were literally hundreds of them crawling up the side. My dog thinks they’re delicious and loads of fun to toss around.

I tried to Google “Big Weiner Comeback” and it just referred me to a bunch of TripleX Domains.

Weiner is getting harder and harder to take.

Tip: Don’t Google that, either.

The bad news for NYC is that of the 7 dwarfs running for mayor, Weiner is NO WORSE than any of this sorry lot-nicknamed DINKY, SKIMPY, SLEAZY, CRAPPY,WIMPY, WOEFUL & WEINER.

Sad times ahead no matter who wins and President Hillary will bailout the Apple at USA expense.

Weiner quotes Nixon “I AM NOT A CROOK”

Wade on May 24, 2013 at 10:41 AM

As much as I despise the guy I really hope he wins. This will set off a really hilarious situation where Weiner will control what is happening in the city that really feeds the cash coffers of the entire state. With the animosity between him and Cuomo this should get interesting in short order.

Should be pretty entertaining and hopefully destroy liberals in NY state.

riddick on May 24, 2013 at 7:54 PM

Well I’m certainly glad to see you guys have stopped pounding The Big Weiner. I think this thread has about shot it’s wad.

Oldnuke on May 25, 2013 at 9:47 PM

It’s too bad John Boehner has a job.

Could have had a run off between Weiner and Boehner.

papertiger on May 27, 2013 at 12:55 AM

Weiner needs to explain his wife’s Muslim Brotherhood connections.

He should be asked if he would approve more “Islamic Centers” in NYC.
