Terror: British soldier reportedly beheaded by two men in attack on London street; Update: Video added

posted at 2:01 pm on May 22, 2013 by Allahpundit

A random attack by lunatics? Not quite: The prime minister’s called a meeting of his emergency response team in the aftermath.

The attackers were, allegedly, heard screaming, “Allahu akbar.”

Sky sources understand that senior police officers believe the killing was likely to be a politically-motivated Islamist terrorist attack.

Dozens of weapons – including a number of knives – and pools of blood could be seen on the ground, where a man wearing a Help for Heroes T-shirt is said to have been attacked by two men.

Sky sources say that following their attack, witnesses heard the pair chanting “Allahu akbar” – and asking passers-by to take photographs of them.

This CNN report claims the man was an active-duty soldier, or at least is presumed to be given that he was leaving a barracks when he was attacked. Evidently they hit him with a car to take him down and then, per the Telegraph, beheaded him. Jihadi ritual sacrifice, performed of course with the audience in mind:

Fred Oyat, who saw the incident from the window of his flat, tells Josie Ensor that two black or Middle Eastern men were wondering around the street, walking over the dead body on the floor:

“The two men were shouting,” he says. “They had three knives including a machete and a meat cleaver as well as an old gun.

“The white man was already dead on the floor, his fade covered in blood. He had a big neck wound and his neck was almost off.”

“They seemed to be encouraging people to take photos and waited there until police arrived as if they wanted a fight.

I can’t remember any other attack like that offhand. The M.O. for these degenerates is almost always mass casualties; to target a single person and murder him theatrically is more akin to the taped beheading of Danny Pearl, but I don’t think I’ve heard of them doing that in broad daylight on the street. Typically they kidnap the person first.

Noah Rothman tweeted this pic that he grabbed from ITV. A quote per their post: “We swear by almighty Allah we will never stop fighting you.”

That’s how close bystanders got to the suspects. As far as I know, no one else was attacked even though it took cops 20 minutes to get there; the terrorists were, apparently, intent on killing a soldier. Obvious questions: Was the soldier chosen at random or did they lie in wait for someone in particular? And are there any other members of the cell?

Stand by for updates.

Update: ITV has posted the video of one of these lunatics holding forth after the attack. Click the image to watch.

ta

Update: ITV’s server is overwhelmed, apparently. If you didn’t get to see the clip, the guy says something to the effect of, “I’m sorry women had to see this but our women have to watch when our nations are attacked.” Then he walks off back towards the victim.

Update: Here’s a YouTube version. “You people will never be safe.”

Update: Good point from Rod Dreher: This guy’s accent strongly suggests he’s homegrown.

My only point was that in many parts of the world, you don’t have basic protections like freedom of speech, and you can’t speak out against acts like this and expect any sort of reasonable protections. In fact, in many places you can expect just the opposite.

rightmind on May 22, 2013 at 5:10 PM

And, they don’t have those freedoms because… sharia. It’s a bit of a perpetual motion machine.

So it isn’t a justifiable that all who remain silent about it are guilty by association.

After a certain point, I think you can hold them responsible, if not guilty. They can stand up for themselves like men. Instead, they remain slaves to their fear. Oh yes, it’s a legitimate fear. But, that doesn’t mean they aren’t responsible for their own inaction.

The guys caught red handed will face jail time but British jails are full of amenities for oppressed Muslims. And it is a safe place for community organizing, jihad education and planning.

BL@KBIRD on May 22, 2013 at 5:01 PM

Yes. And of course the kuffar pay to house them in jail, which isn’t just convenience — getting the unbelievers to pay for your community, either by taxing them or raiding their caravans, is downright Muhammad-like. Summed up in the immortal words of Anjem Choudhary “you work, give us the money! Allahu akbar, we take the money.”

rightmind on May 22, 2013 at 5:19 PM

If that keeps happening the Brit government won’t have to worry about dealing with it. The British people will rise up and things will get ugly.

Before the last 10 years, I have no recollection of Muslims being called Islamists—or being called radicalized Muslims (implying that somehow they misinterpreted Islamic teaching). Prior to 9/11 all I can recall is that they were simply called Muslims or Muslim terrorists. Can anyone remember anything different from this? I would be interested to know exactly when language was changed to obfuscate Islamic teaching. Has anyone ever written on this?

INC on May 22, 2013 at 3:25 PM

“Islamists” is mainly used by very wimpy “conservatives”. “Liberals” usually won’t even use words that are even a euphemism for Muslim.

I have sympathy for humane people trapped in muslim-dominated countries. Some of them are probably even muslim — but, obviously, they are the true Tiny Minority of Extremists in islam because speaking out is a quick death sentence for them.

The ones that most anger me are the muslims in the West who claim they are “afraid” to speak out. (And yes, I’ve read those claims in European papers, of muslims in places like Belgium who claimed they feared reprisal if they spoke out.) Sorry, not buying it. If you won’t speak out when the entire muslim population is 5% (and supposedly, only a Tiny Minority of that 5% are extremists), then when will you speak out?

I think it’s absolutely right to hold responsible the people who commit terrorist acts or other violence in the name of Islam. I also think it’s right to hold responsible people who aid others in doing so, like someone mentioned the Boston bombers. Fine.

To the degree that people are allowed to speak freely about stuff like this, without fear of reprisal, I think it’s OK to expect them to do so. My only point is that in a lot of places that doesn’t exist, and when that is the case, you can’t claim that silence is an indication that they agree with the ideology. That these freedoms are absent because of sharia should not be used to indict someone who disagrees with sharia.

In medieval times, people created fairy tales and magical creatures to make sense of their world. One of the most endearing is the unicorn, a horse with a single horn that symbolized purity and wholesomeness. In our modern times, people in Europe and the United States consider themselves more sophisticated and rational than people from the Middle Ages, but we still create myths, albeit more subtle ones.

Daily we hear reports of violent acts committed by Islamic terrorists on every inhabited continent. We try to wish it away with the myth of the ‘Moderate Muslim’, telling ourselves the Islamic agenda has been’ hijacked’ by a tiny minority of ‘islamists’ and that soon the huge, silent, ‘moderate majority’ of Muslims will take charge and change things. However, post 9/11 very few Muslims have condemned terrorist actions. We are still waiting for ‘moderates’ to stand and deliver, identifying and removing ‘extremist thugs’ from their mosques and their communities. Waiting for this self-correction is our modern version of searching for unicorns.

“Moderate” Muslims will not be able to wrest control of the agenda for several reasons. First of all, Mohammed, the Messenger of Allah’s eternal word, was not moderate. No “moderate” can legitimately tell another Muslim to stop doing the things Mohammed himself did. Also, the Qur’an condones violence and coercion to further the Islamic agenda. People whom we call ‘moderates’ are labeled hypocrites by Allah Himself in the Qur’an. ‘Moderates’ will always lose the argument because, as ex-Muslim author Ibn Warraq says, “There may be ‘moderates’ in Islam but Islam itself is not moderate.”

Islamic expert Daniel Pipes and others estimate ten percent of the Islamic world to be militant. In 1933 when the Nazi party took control of Germany it had 2 million members, comprising only three percent of Germany’s sixty-six million citizens. A tiny minority of extremists can control a vast number of “moderates”, making them irrelevant.

RasThavas on May 22, 2013 at 5:46 PM

Hmm, seems like Ms. Ahlquist was trying to silence Christians. So when Christians object to being silenced (threats aside, that’s unacceptable, presuming they were legit), does that constitute wanting to silence atheists?

It’s a bit like the discussion yesterday about rape; if a victim hits her rapist with a brick, and the rapist chokes her to death – was it self-defense, or… probably not?

You try to silence me, I object, and… I’m trying to silence you? Is that how it works?

Dan_Yul on May 22, 2013 at 5:13 PM

For the most part, no, they don’t. But you said “They want the infidels silenced just like what happens here with atheists, agnostics, etc.” And that just isn’t true. The muslims don’t “silence” athiests by using their own 1st Amendment freedoms – freedom of speech, freedom of assembly – to counter the athiest, but by throwing acid in their face, or by burying them in the ground except for their head and stoning them, or by trying them for apostasy and throwing them off a cliff, or by a mob beating them to death. AND YOU DA*N WELL KNOW IT.

Your attempt at moral equivalence in this means that every other argument you might want to make has lost credibility. You might want to re-look at your principles in light of that.

I just returned from a business trip to London where I took a few days to visit family friends who moved back to England 18 months ago after living in the US for 7 years.

London is a scary pit, majority recent immigrants and their descendents. Some large cities have essentially been occupied by first, second and now third generation Muslim immigrants.

The feel of the nation and it’s people is utterly and completely different than it was in the 80s.

Worst, by far, are the 2nd and 3rd generation immigrants. They are technically British, but most are radical or radicalizing rapidly. There are many places where I could not travel because I was told I would be in grave danger simply because I’m white and especially because I’m American.

It made me think that the 80s were not that long ago. The fundamental transformation of England (perhaps the entire UK) is essentially complete… Time will tell if it stays that way.

According to my friends, many native British people are ready to fight back – but many are still apathetic, with generations living on the dole (welfare). So who knows.

But as usual the point I was originally making has been overlooked. That point was that there are people in the muslim world who do not support jihad but it is not safe for them to speak up. I some muslims in Egypt who did not want the islamists to take control of Egypt and this was back in the early 1990s.

Dan_Yul on May 22, 2013 at 6:23 PM

I don’t get why the attackers waited for 20 minutes after the beheading for the police to arrive.

And by the aerial and street level footage of the crime scene it’s clear the attack took place in a populous area.

Something VERY stinky about this story.

A group of 100 EDL members demonstrated near the crime scene.

Leader Tommy Robinson addressed the crowd, saying: ‘We have got weak leadership. They have allowed this to happen. People are scared to say the word Muslim. They are scared to offend them

You know what? We are offended. People in this country are angry. They have had enough.’

OK, well this much I agree with. I wouldn’t use the term “islamist” in making the point, but yeah.

Oh look! Another machete attack, this time in Sweden where they are rioting:

Police in the deprived, largely immigrant suburb of Husby shot a man dead last week after he reportedly threatened to kill them with a machete.

The founder of a local youth group told Swedish media the riots were a reaction to “police brutality”.

I see no mention of the word “Muslim” or “Islam” in the story but I’m quite sure it wasn’t a Christian wielding that machete. Or rioting:

More than 80% of Husby’s 12,000 or so inhabitants are from an immigrant background, and most are from Turkey, the Middle East and Somalia.

A quote from an 1899 book by Winston Churchill, The River War, in which he describes Muslims he apparently observed during Kitchener’s campaign in the Sudan:

“How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property – either as a child, a wife, or a concubine – must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men. Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities. Thousands become the brave and loyal soldiers of the Queen; all know how to die; but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science – the science against which it had vainly struggled – the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient” Rome.

Nothing’s changed, except Churchill would be arrested under the UK hate criems law for saying this today.

The Documentary Losing our Sons trailer:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atkyJ5ryKDw

Published on Sep 7, 2012

A searing true story from America’s heartland, Losing Our Sons tells of two American families whose lives intersected through a shattering act of violence. Melvin Bledsoe, a small business owner in Memphis, watched with pride as his son Carlos went to Tennessee State University in Nashville to better his life. Daris Long, an ex-Marine, felt honored that his son, Andy, chose to follow in his footsteps by joining the military. But when Carlos Bledsoe murdered Andy Long in Little Rock, Arkansas, both fathers had to face a new kind of American nightmare. As Melvin followed the trail that led Carlos from Nashville to Yemen and then to Little Rock, Daris confronted an American government that seemed in denial about what happened to his son. This powerful documentary provides a moment of clarity for Americans who care about their country’s future

The attackers were, allegedly, heard screaming, “Allahu akbar.”

Are they sure it wasn’t The Lord’s Prayer? The two are soooo similar.

Exterminate the koranimals. They are miserable in this life. Give them the death they dream of. Sooner or (probably) later, Western Civilization will awaken to the fact there is no living in peace with this part of the human mosaic.
