Mia Love officially announces run for Congress in 2014

posted at 1:21 pm on May 20, 2013 by Mary Katharine Ham

Mia Love, mayor of Saratoga Springs, Utah and conservative crowd favorite of 2012, made it official Saturday she’s looking for a rematch with Rep. Jim Matheson in 2014. A break-out star of the GOP Convention and the Tea Party circuit, Love lost to Matheson in ’12 by under 800 votes. She made the announcement at the state Republican convention:

“You and I have some unfinished business with Rep. Jim Matheson,” Love told the more than 2,500 delegates gathered for the organizing convention, recalling her narrow loss last November.

Earlier this year, Love filed her candidacy with the Federal Elections Commission and hired top GOP strategist Dave Hansen, who ran Sen. Orrin Hatch’s successful 2012 re-election campaign.

Love isn’t sure whether she’ll face a primary challenger, but told reporters, “hopefully not.” She also announced on her Twitter and Facebook accounts after outreach to see “if the momentum was there, if we could build upon what we had before,” she said. “People are getting behind us and are more determined than ever to win this seat.” Her district is a top target for Republicans in the upcoming off-year elections.

And, now, please enjoy a reprise of her RNC speech:

I remember that when she was speaking at the 2012 GOP convention, several of the “progressive” news channels had their panel of talking heads talking over her speech… the coverage was of the panel, and you could only see (not hear) Mia Love on stage in the background. And it seemed to be that way any time that a speaker who was not a white male was on stage. You see, the “progressives” have a dishonet meme to maintain… that the GOP is only for “old white men”.

Truth knows no gender, age, or skin color.

And the truth will prevail.

Nonpartisan, a true religious bigot! Guess what, sweetiepie: Harry Reid is Mormon. In fact, a local church leader in the Washington DC Area. About the only thing I find about that man that I can condone (though it still baffles me how a man like Harry Reid can be LDS). Is he also not very smart because he is LDS? I agree he’s not smart… is it because he is LDS?

Romney: Valedictorian at BYU. Dual JD/MBA from Harvard. You know, your claimed alma mater. Is HE stupid for being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? You know darn well that Romney is far more intelligent than Obama can hope to be.

Actually, I find it reassuring that you are a religious bigot against Mormons. Judging by your clear intellectual heft, it’s practically an endorsement of the faith.

I must have missed the part where we changed the Constitution so that one’s faith comes under question by complete strangers.

But while on the subject let’s talk about how Democrats treated blacks. It wasn’t the GOP standing the the doorways of schools being forceably integrated. It wasn’t the GOP who tried and de-rail the voting rights act of 1964. It wasn’t the GOP that has created a perpetual underclass of uneducated and unproductive blacks whose only societal value is every couple years at the ballot box.

No we’re not, as compared say to:

1) Bluegill’s wildly irrational hatred of all things “Palin”; or
2) Compared to your average Paul-bot…..

A few border on idolatry, but overall we’re a fairly normal lot….now to sound like Nonpartisan, this isn’t a thread about Palin, but a thread about Mia Love.

I still can’t believe she lost last time.

She was winning.

Not freaks, just zealots.

uh, she’s black…and if she’s black and mormon (considering how mormons treated blacks) well I’d have to question her judgment

nonpartisan on May 20, 2013 at 1:48 PM

If race is the primary reason you “have to question her” you are unquestionably a bigot. That is without question.

That’s too bad. With a name like nonpartisan I had hope for you as a moderate. But you’re the same type of bigot found among TP extremists. The stench is the same.
