Biden: The Tsarnaevs are “knock-off jihadis”

posted at 2:42 pm on April 24, 2013 by Allahpundit

Via NRO, someone didn’t get the memo that liberals are still in “pretend the motive is unclear” phase, the most fun part of which is spitballing about Tamerlan Tsarnaev possibly having brain damage from boxing. Could that be it? Could it be that Bin Laden liked to spar for fun too and finally took one right hand to the face too many circa 2001? What about poor Dzhokhar’s “Holden Caulfield-like adolescent alienation,” a hormone-fueled vortex that had him alternating between cooing over how hot Miss USA is and planting bombs next to eight-year-olds? Will we ever know the answer?

When even Andrew Sullivan can’t resist goofing on lefty theories pointing everywhere except at the obvious, you know this debate is more or less over. It’s embarrassing to the culture that an American leader acknowledging the truth warrants some special recognition, but it is what it is: Credit where it’s due here for Biden, even if the term “knock-off” as a putdown is kind of odd in context. Are “authentic” jihadis, trained overseas and willing to kill themselves for the cause, somehow better? Mind-bending exit quotation about Tamerlan Tsarnaev from his former brother-in-law: “[H]e was angry that the world pictures Islam as a violent religion.”

Biden Cracks Joke at Memorial Service for Slain Police Officer

“One of my favorite poets is Seamus Heaney,” said Biden, who is of Irish descent. “I know the congressman thinks I always quote Irish poets because I’m Irish. That’s not the reason I do it. I quote Irish poets because they’re the best poets and that’s the reason why,” Biden deadpanned. “And the Collier family knows that, right?”

Biden continued, “But all kidding aside…”

I suppose Joe thinks they’re knock-offs because the real jihadis would use shotguns and stay at home scaring off law enforcement whenever they came to the door by popping off a couple rounds from their balcony.

The faux VP said what he does at a memorial for a slain police officer? What an effing moron. How low can we go in this country? We are in very serious sad shape. Appropriateness and proper respect by this administration are gone. What freaking person, let alone the US vice-president, makes comments like that at a memorial?

The focus should be on the accomplishments of the police officer and his significant contribution to the welfare of the people of Boston. It should not be an event to push a political agenda of any kind.

That poor family.

Thus, the logic proves that there are jihadis. You can’t have a knock-off of something that doesn’t exist.

As much as I dislike Biden, as a Bostonian I thought he gave a great speech today. I will also add that I think people are reading too much into what he meant by the word “knockoff.” I think he was just trying to be insulting. He’s not diminishing the fact that they were extremists in any way, he’s just adding on the point that they were idiots. The fact that someone in this administration called these two Jihadis should be acceptable for us conservatives. It is a rare acknowledgement.

If you listen to the rest of his speech, he didn’t hold anything back. His comparisons between the students of MIT and what they stand for versus what Jihadis seek to achieve is probably the staunchest anti Jihad rhetoric we’ve heard from a Democrat in the past 5-6 years. Don’t knock him down for one word he threw in.

Again, I hate his politics. Admit it though, this was a great speech. The us versus them feel was perfect. Biden hits an emotional vein that Obama only wishes he could ever hit.

More like AAA level trying to impress the scouts enough to get a shot at joining the big leagues.

The AA jihadis haven’t killed anyone yet, but they are thinking about it.

The A jihadis are just beginning their studies at al-Qaeda’s on-line Jihad University.

But yeah, Joe, they are just “knock-offs”. No need to take them too seriously. It’s not like there might be thousands, or tens of thousands, in the US who haven’t yet taken their shot at the big leagues.

Heard on the news this morning that in an interview with ‘the mother’ about these guys, she said;

1 – they were not radicalized to a virulent version of Islam by some extremist, and,

2 – they were only guilty of being Muslim.

My initial reaction was to yell “BS” at the radio.

Then it occurred to me, well… I guess she’s right. They weren’t ‘radicalized’ to some ‘extreme’ version of Islam. It’s simply ‘Islam’ itself that is extreme and radical, and routinely views their actions as, well, acceptable.

The notion that the mother – and other Muslims – view them not as being guilty of murder, terrorism, etc – only considered guilty of being Muslim rang true, as well. She/they don’t see them as guilty of anything at all – they are simply Muslim and doing what they’re supposed to do.

I’m done with trying to compartmentalize ‘good Muslim’ vs. ‘bad Muslim’; done waiting for ‘good Muslims’ to say or do anything of consequence to clean up their house, so to speak. The reality is that if they’re not *doing* murder and mayhem, they effectively agree with and support it when done by others in their name.

Why do these politicians & liberal know-nothing keep asking why?
Bin Laden demanded death to America by a thousand cuts.
A thousand cuts
. Boston was a cut and New York was supposed to be another. Expect others.

Jihadist have been telling us constantly why they hate us. Support for the hated Israel, drone attacks, mid-East policies, support for this or that government which they hate,…

Will liberals ever read suras 8 & 9 of the Qur’an? Are there not jihadist web sites encouraging violence to weaken the Kafir? Yet liberal soft heads keep wondering why. There is no stronger emotion than hate and Islamic literature is full of it for the Jew and other infidels (“The worst of creatures” Q98:6).

Sure, most Muslims are not violent – but our Islamic enemies know that Islam doesn’t need most for the “thousand cuts”. But we must not restrict Muslim immigration in any way because that would be “racist”? Is our Constitution a suicide pact?

Fellow conservatives.

This is a teaching moment. I watched the memorial in its entirety -it was a beautiful tribute to the officer but also to the other victims. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much from Biden. Boy I was wrong! If you watch Biden’s full address, he will make you cry. Literally. Not a single concession to the PC police. None. Just pure common sense with an authenticity and grace that I haven’t seen in a while. He went to say things such as “they thought they would intimidate us by destroying NYC’s tallest buildings, guess what, we built another building that was taller”, “you here at MIT represent their worst fears: a group of diverse people pursuing freely your ideas, where women are treated like men”, etc, etc.

If that’s how he usually addressed the crowds during the two presidential campaigns, I can understand now why he was such an asset for Obama.

The Joe Biden that came across from his mainstream media appearances (gaffes, scripted DNC addresses, debates) was very different from the Joe Biden that showed up at MIT.

I agree 100%. People should watch the speech in its entirety. If this is the Joe Biden that will show up in 2016, not only the GOP is toast, Hilary is toast. And he did everything with grace and with great respect towards the family of Sean as well as the other 3 victims.

What Joe also said:

“The irony is, we read about these events, we experience them, but the truth is, on every frontier, terrorism as a weapon is losing,” he said. “It is not gaining adherents.”

Really, Joe? Who told you that? Hillary Clinton?

Undoubtedly, Benedict Arnold had his moments of verbal grace. Julius Rosenberg surely put forth an eloquent argument now and then. And Duranty was certainly an impassioned elocutionist.

I get your point, now go stick it somewhere else.
