Open thread: Sunday morning talking heads

posted at 8:01 am on April 21, 2013 by Allahpundit

In an alternate universe, today’s chat shows are devoted to reporting on the disaster in West, Texas and dissecting Wednesday’s gun-control votes in the Senate. This is not that universe. Expect nearly wall-to-wall coverage of the marathon bombings and the Tsarnaev degenerates with just a bit of those other two topics tossed in. This morning will be useful, at least, in showcasing the media’s first go at explaining How We Should Think about the bombings.

Politico has the line-up, which is filled with current and former intel officials. Chuck Schumer and Lindsey Graham will also be on to pitch amnesty because, after all, today’s a day ending with “y.”

this whole week has “smelled bad to me” too many “why did they do that now” type of questions?

I’m with you. I want to know is it true Moocheelle visited the Muslim kid in the hospital? The one that is supposedly being deported?

The Boston bombers were planning more attacks across the city and were already building the bombs to do this says the city’s police commissioner Ed Davis.

Davis says it’s his belief that 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and his 26-year-old brother Tamerlan ‘were going to attack other individuals’ — and Davis says that’s based on the evidence at the scene and the cache of weapons the brothers had at their disposal.

However, Davis claims releasing photos of the two Boston Marathon bombing suspects ‘forced them out of their hideout’ and spurred them into Thursday and Friday’s deadly night time car chaos and gun battle with law enforcement.

‘It forced them out of their hideout and they decided to commit further violent acts. But it’s my belief that they were already manufacturing explosive devices. Further violent acts were inevitable,’ Davis toldThe Boston Globe

“…Tamerlan once said he had no American friends. His brother had lots of them, but fellow students at UMass-Dartmouth say he also hung out with some Russian speakers.

On March 14, 2012, Dzhokhar tweeted: “a decade in america already, i want out” That same day, he added, “im trying to grow a beard”

Dzhokhar became naturalized last September, federal officials told the AP. His older brother had a green card but may have been thwarted in his quest for U.S. citizenship by an assault charge, his father told The New York Times.

If Tamerlan recorded his thoughts, they have not yet surfaced — at least publicly. His brother left a trail on the Internet, although in an Aug. 7, 2012 tweet, he called himself a “heavy sleeper and a great liar”

In March, Dzhokhar tweeted: “Evil triumphs when good men do nothing.” A week and a half earlier, he reminded his followers, “Never underestimate the rebel with a cause.”

The day of the bombing, he wrote: “There are people that know the truth but stay silent & there are people that speak the truth but we don’t hear them cuz they’re the minority”

Tsarni is confident authorities will find that Tamerlan was his younger brother’s “mentor.”

“Dzhokhar, of course, was looking up at him,” he said.

But their body language the day of the bombings seems to suggest at least a partnership of equals.

In one of the now infamous photos the FBI released to the public in hopes of tips, the older brother has his head down, the visor pulled low over his face as if he’s trying to hide. Dzhokhar, by contrast, has his white baseball cap turned backward, revealing his entire face, his chin is thrust confidently into the air.”

Since the left wants the US to become Europe, can we start with journalism? The only hard believable stories about Boston are sourced from the UK.

“Checks on the dead 26-year-old’s computer show he regularly watched a propaganda film on YouTube called the Black Flags of Khorasan, the old name for Afghanistan.

It was produced by a London-based group called the Real Undercover Enemies Exposed.

The group says: “The video contains information relating to the possibility of a nuclear or dirty bomb at the London Olympics and a chemical/biological attack on the London Underground, both resulting in the deaths of a large number of people.”

The link to Britain was found on Tamerlan’s YouTube playlist, suggesting he particularly liked the video which contains violent scenes.

FBI experts are checking the computers of both brothers and working closely with M15 and M16 to see if they planned other bomb attacks.

Although it is not thought that either of the brothers visited Britain, they appear to have taken an interest in another website based here.

Evidence has emerged that Dzhokhar, 19, also monitored the Twitter site of the British-based site Hadith of the Day, a moderate site featuring the peaceful Islamic sayings. It is already known that Tamerlan regularly visited YouTube postings by the controversial Australian preacher Feiz Mohammed, a former boxer who blames women for being raped and has called for a prominent Dutch politician to be beheaded…”

Reports indicate the FBI is searching for a 12-person “sleeper cell” tied to the Boston Marathon bombers.
This is an outworking of the belief that “Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev were “specially trained” to carry out their attack.
The UK’s Daily Mirror quoted an anonymous …..

From Breitbardt… UK’s daily mirror. Meh.

Crime in another gun free zone? Is Boston not a gun free area? oh unless your law enforcement. The people had to cower in thier homes until law enforcement could arrive. Luckily these guys didnt go into someones home and take hostages. They got damn lucky there.

Let it be known that the massive billions spent on anti terrorism/counter terrorism completely missed a guy who stopped just short of buying a billboard stating ‘I AM A TERRORIST AND WILL BLOW YOU UP’ ….

nice work fellas, so, exactly who is on your radar these days if this crackpot wasn’t??????

Excellent summary from last night’s QotD

Obama failed to protect the nation.

The FBI failed.

The CIA failed.

The DHS failed.

The Boston Police failed.

And Islam is still the unmentionable root of it all.

A Republican needs to get on TV right away and say we need to appoint a bipartisan commission to full investigate all the facts surrounding this terrorist attack. Once we know exactly what happened the committee can consult with law enforcement to make recommendations to reform our immigration system so people like this either don’t make it to this country or are quickly deported once there are associations with Islamic extremists.

My son and I were talking about how they can control all the backpacks. 30 years ago the only people who had backpacks were hikers and college students. They should just ban them at public events and tell people to put all their belongings in grocery bags so they can be checked easier. But people would complain because backpacks are in the constitution or something.

Am reading that Beck’s big news “may” be that the feds had been using the older brother as an agent to infiltrate al qaeda — but he turned. And that the Saudi Mooch visited in the hospital was part of the program, which is why they rushed him out of the country.

Rational Thought on April 21, 2013 at 10:23 AM

Do you remember when Mooch took that pricey trip to Spain and spirited herself off to visit a mosque?

onlineanalyst on April 21, 2013 at 3:22 PM

The fact you keep talking about gun control when nobody will give a rip once we find out who committed the terrorist act is shows this is a huge loss for the GOP.

The winning side never changes the subject.

It’s fun to be back and rubbing your noses in the rancid stench of defeat. Heck, even that Salon guy was a winner in all of this.

gumbyandpokey on April 17, 2013 at 3:54 PM

The reality of the situation is that if it was a white guy, stations like CNN and MSNBC will be gloating for an eternity. He will, more than likely, turn out to be an anti-govt extremist.

The Dems/liberals win again.

We truly have clueless idiots in our media and in our “ruling class.” They have no curiosity beyond their talking points.

Take a look at this link and note that the apologist Michael Moore is cited as a sympathizer for the Islamists.

The Fifth Columnists are alive and well and propagandizes all over the media.

At least ban the high capacity ones.

Do we really need military style backpacks?

justltl on April 21, 2013 at 4:28 PM

And how about pressure cookers?
There should definitely be some government regulations on pressure cooker capacity.
For the children.

I want to know where “Chatty Kathy Rubio” is hiding out? The Boston terrorist attack, involving legal immigrants with questionable backgrounds, must have given Marco some pause to reflect on the disaster of a bill he has been pushing. If legal immigrants can’t be accounted for when they set off warning lights, like Tamalane did, how the hell is Rubio going to guarantee the efficacy of the bill keeping track of illegal aliens, to this point? Not to mention being able to snooker the FBI, DHS, etc.! Our guardians of ineptitude!

Agree.

But to be fair, sucking the hind end of the Saudi Royals didn’t begin with this administration, nor is the sole realm of the Democrats.
