Video – Tim Scott. “There is no corner on Earth, no hiding place”

posted at 2:31 pm on April 20, 2013 by Jazz Shaw

This has been a week full of far too much bad news, so long time friend of Hot Air Andrew Malcolm rides to the rescue with something a bit more positive. Newly minted Senator Tim Scott was selected to deliver the GOP’s weekly address this morning, and he chose to use his time to deliver a message of hope in the wake of the Boston attacks.

Hi, I’m Tim Scott, Senator from South Carolina.

This week, on Patriot’s Day, a day that celebrates the beginning of our country’s journey toward freedom, a horrific tragedy occurred.

The Boston Marathon bombing has left us all with a heavy heart and we pray for the victims and their families. (Scroll down for full video of these remarks.)

However, while the perpetrators of this act of terror hoped that they could shake the confidence of a city, they have instead only strengthened the resolve of our nation.

This became apparent immediately as first responders ran towards unknown dangers.

These amazing Americans, some of whom charged through fences and barricades, put their own lives on the line to help others.

We are so thankful for these women and men, who on a daily basis sacrifice for our nation—they are our friends, our family, our neighbors.

Join me in praying for them and the victims of this tragedy, the victims’ families and their support systems.

To those who would attack America or our citizens, let me say this—there is no corner on Earth, no hiding place in America that will keep us from finding you.

The leaders of this country will do everything in our power to bring justice for the families and the communities impacted.

Our freedom is our most precious possession—any effort to take it away will only strengthen our determination.

Because the greatness of America is not seen during times of prosperity, but is crystallized by how we respond to challenges.

We will stand strong. We will stand united. And we will stand together for Boston.

Thank you and God bless America.

Becoming more and more impressed with this guy. Not much more to add to this, except to say that real leadership requires not only intelligence, force of will and the ability to do the right thing, but also the ability to inspire those who elected you and help maintain the spirit of the nation. This was a very good address and I’m glad Senator Scott was given the opportunity to deliver it.

Spoken like a true leader. Great job, Sen Tim Scott.

He gives me hope. A true voice in the wilderness and a brave man. Its very easy these days to be a liberal but it takes courage to be a conservative, especially if you are a minority. Satan is the prince of lies and right now he is winning but rest assured that he wont win in the end. Lord, I pray that the scales continue to fall from the eyes of those deceived. We need more brave souls like Senator Scott. GOD BLESS HIM

… but could you imagine the hue and cry if a Republican President sent the FBI to Boston and shutdown the city ?
Michael Moore was about the only Democrat to stay in character yesterday, when he started whining about two teenagers shutting down the city of Boston.

Great but thanks the SC GOP incompetence in picking his replacement his seat might be filled a democrat.

Bruno Strozek on April 20, 2013 at 2:52 PM

AWESOME message! Thank you, Senator Scott!

However, I really wish that this were true …

To those who would attack America or our citizens, let me say this—there is no corner on Earth, no hiding place in America that will keep us from finding you.

Sadly, as we have seen since January 2009, obama coddles and kowtows to terrorists and our enemies around the world, and in the United States – our most dangerous enemies are “HIDING” within our own borders, and obama is of one mind with them and he knows exactly where they dwell, because he is one of them. Every day that obama remains in office, the danger for America grows exponential.

THINKING Americans stand with patriots like Tim Scott, but unfortunately, our so-called “president”, and those in our government who wield the most power, oppose US and view US as a threat to their anti-America agenda.

Pork-Chop on April 20, 2013 at 2:53 PM

The leaders of this country will do everything in our power to bring justice for the families and the communities impacted.

I’m certainly not convinced of that. I’m assuming the “Benghazi” comments upthread refer to the same sentiment.

Curtiss on April 20, 2013 at 2:55 PM

Benghazi seems like a pretty good hiding spot though, so try there.

I really like Scott. He’s not as much of a firebrand as I’d thought he might be, but he’s principled, strong-willed and methodical. I’m happy to say he represents me, even if he doesn’t, you know, actually represent me in the Senate.

Dusty on April 20, 2013 at 3:59 PM

Midas on April 20, 2013 at 3:59 PM

And just who was it who counseled and encouraged Tim Scott through his political career, particularly advising him on seeking higher offices and holding fast to his conservative reform principles?

Was it the same guy who inspired and encouraged Nikki Haley, too? And who was the very face of reform in the corrupt South Carolina political environment?

Yeah, it was that guy. The one all you blue-nosed Establishment RINOs hate so much, and would do anything to destroy.

Last month, my 16 yr old daughter and her JROTC unit went to Washington DC for a week. Visiting various sites (Arlington cemetery, Air and Space museum, all the monuments, etc) was difficult for her as she had her leg in a cast.

One of the highlights for her was going to the Capital and meeting with Mr. Scott, as we live in SC. While he was pressed for time because of scheduled meetings, he did take the time to sign my daughters cast. This was the 1st cast she has had for this injury, and she wouldn’t let anyone sign it until Tim Scott did. She now displays the cast proudly in her room along with all her Cheerleading and soccer trophys.

She did this. She hatched this plan from her own little mind with no prompting from me or the wife. You know how you wonder how your kids act when not in your sight? I’m thinking she’s gonna be alright as an adult.

Renee on April 21, 2013 at 8:18 AM

Greg Gutfeld has the right idea. When the question was posed about why did they do what they did, he said I don’t care. My husband and I said the same thing. We don’t care why, either, it’s enough that it was done. Doesn’t matter if he was white, brown, had a difficult growing up, couldn’t make friends or that his parents left him to go back to the old country. One was killed and the other should be made to talk about what he knows, then placed in front of a firing squad. He put a bomb down by an 8 and 6yo. What needs to be figured out by those pushing expanded immigration is why was he even here in the first place. Stop feeling sorry for people who want a better life than the crap one they currently have. If they don’t like it where they live, they should work toward making it better there, not pack a bag for America.
