New MSNBC promo: You have the right to health care, education, housing, and food at all times

posted at 3:21 pm on April 10, 2013 by Allahpundit

Via Newsbusters, something to tide you over on a news day that started out fast and has slowed considerably. Give Harris-Perry credit, at least, for fine-tuning her messaging. You’re not going to sell swing voters on far-left liberalism by telling them their kids don’t really belong to them, but tell them that they have a right “at all times” to things they need and you’re golden. If you polled the public on whether people should have a right to all of this, where would the numbers top out? Seventy percent? Eighty? The American public loves, loves, loves government spending, partly because they’re never asked to consider the zero-sum nature of federal expenditures in a budget that balances and partly because they still don’t fully appreciate the consequences of endless borrowing. Both parties spent years shrugging at the fallacy that current spending levels can be supported by current tax rates. Under those circumstances, why wouldn’t the average low-information think everyone should have the right to housing, food, etc? Throw in the right to phone service and personal transportation while you’re at it. Put it on our collective tab.

Note, per Newsbusters, that she’s all for having the most productive members of society earn “a little more.” Whew. By the way, if you think these promos are bad now, just wait.

Te Biblical injunction is to feed the hungry and clothe the naked. It does not require we feast them and style them. But liberals get in the way of charity, making a mockery of it.

I see people with EBT card buy, on our dime, what I cannot afford except for an occasional splurge.

They have NO right to buy on our dime what we cannot afford from our own wallets.

you have the right to health care, education, housing, and food at all times

You will have the right to only and exactly that which the state says you have the right to.. and you will get it when and if they feel like giving it to you. You will then keep it until the state wants to take it back. And there will be nothing at all you will do about it. Should you even try to do something about it.. or seem the slightest bit unthankful for what the state has done for you.. you will be killed. Any questions?

Hey Perry…

Define “decent” housing.
Define ‘health care”.
Define “education”.
Define “quality food”.
Define “a little more”.
Define “We”.

You know you gets to “define” those things when folks like you command them? GOVERNMENT.

But what is that exactly? It is Agencies run by a few rich law-making bureaucrats in a room within the bowels of The Hill, bought and paid for by big money and special interests.

I hate YOUR world Ms. Perry and folks like me will fight to our death to prevent folks like you becoming the “definers”.

“Tax the rich, feed the poor
Til there are no rich no more”

Notice what they want “no more” of. Is it “the poor”? Nope — it’s “the rich”. So after “the rich” are gone, what happens to “the poor”???

DOOF on April 10, 2013 at 3:55 PM

I think the late great Alvin Lee was being critical of this situation. First, no one could be so stupid as to want to cut off food to the poor by destroying its source, right? /

But also, he begins the song with:

Everywhere is,
Freaks and hairies,
Dykes and fairies,
Tell me, where is sanity?

So maybe we should give him credit for being a bit more conservative than his Woodstock stage mates…? Wishful thinking?

Or was he voicing the concerns of those helplessly watching their society disintegrating before their eyes?

I’d love to change the world,
But I don’t know what to do.
So I’ll leave it up to you.

You have the right to health care, education, housing, and food at all times…

Free health care? Sure, what4ever your mom will do for you.

Free education? Public library; go look it up. Free.

Free housing? You’re entitled to own whatever house you can build on whatever property you own.

Food? You’re entitled to what you can grow or hunt or gather on your own lands… hope you’re as good at farming as you are at whining.

You can ask for charity if you’re in need; you’re not entitled to it.

The Land of Fools, the USA, circa 2013

Both the left and the right have criticized President Barack Obama’s new budget released Wednesday, but a new poll shows that a majority of Americans trust his decision-making on the economy.

Fifty-seven percent of Americans have “a great deal” or “fair amount” of confidence that Obama will do or recommend the right things for the U.S. economy, the Gallup poll shows.

Meanwhile, 48 percent felt that way about Democratic leaders in Congress, 42 percent for Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke and 39 percent for GOP leaders in Congress.

Americans’ confidence in Obama on the economy is up from 50 percent for the past two years, but it remains below his high of 71 percent in 2009.

Of course, the political affiliation of those surveyed made a difference in their support. The poll showed 90 percent of Democrats have confidence in Obama on the economy, while 24 percent of Republicans feel that way. Independents were split with 51 percent expressing a great deal or fair amount of confidence in the president and 47 percent saying they have only a little or almost no confidence in his economic decision-making, the poll said.

Gallup conducted telephone surveys of 1,007 adults from April 4 to April 7. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus four percentage points.

The complete and total lack of thinking this through is terrifying. What does she think the lowest income folks will do, when offered free food, housing, healthcare, and financial aid?

uh, stop working maybe?

why should they, if they get along better financially by not?.. That was the whole point of welfare reform, to help people find their way back to being independent, not making them a nice cell in Apartment Government Block 101.. as it falls apart because people never care for something they don’t own. Make it even worse, give them more cash if Dad leaves,.. the policy which destroyed so many families in the 70′s as Dad’s left thinking it’d make it better for their kids, Mom’s getting pregnant to get more cash,.. That is what the system got so horribly wrong before..

and she wants more of that?

Helping them find jobs that pay a living wage is the best thing they could do..

But that doesn’t make them dependent on lefty politicians staying in office.. does it?

Isn’t it just beeeeautiiiifuuuuullll?

dentarthurdent on April 10, 2013 at 5:28 PM

Having the “Right” money isn’t enough. Al Gore was allowed to sell his station to Al Jazeera, rather than open it up to a mandatory free market auction, which would have allowed the “Right” money to bid on it, since apparently the government does reserve the right to regulate the airwaves.

They have the lock on mass media, and they intend to keep it.

Next?

YTZGal on April 10, 2013 at 5:30 PM

The implication of the promo is that there are already people below this floor she is speaking of. So other people will have to fall a little to get those below up to the line.

But don’t despair! The lowest you will fall is to that line. Best case scenario for her, “you can make a little more and that’s fine”.

It is totally human nature to work much harder for just a little more than someone not working at all.

We are all supposed to receive health care via single payer government proviso.
We are all supposed to receive minimal stipend pay from employers with their higher profit margin then being taxed away by the government.

Unless, of course, you are a member of the ruling elite. Remember, they said “ready to rule” on day one.

Screw hoarding ammo; it’s to expend it.

M240H on April 10, 2013 at 5:50 PM

Here’s your problem. Once the democrats took over the Republicans suddenly became cognizant of fiscal reality issues and Democrats forgot about them. Because THAT’s how you get elected. But the first time one of them actually follows through upon receiving the stamps of the offices, I may fall over dead.

But by all means, use this to garner election chances. Because its hollow coming from those asking for votes.

Except maybe Rand Paul, and god know’s everyone is ready for his crazy slip to show at any moment. The rest? Your a fool if you emotionally invest yourself in believing it.

And probably better to tax and spend rather than borrow and spend in the interim until some semblance of sanity can possibly rear it’s ugly head. Which I don’t expect.

And one would be wise to hoard ammo, or at least stock up, so to have ample supply to expend. The necessary expending of which may come much sooner than later.

hawkeye54 on April 10, 2013 at 5:57 PM

Darn stright!!
My biggest problem is balancing how much I’m actually able to buy with how much to use at the range practicing, while still being able to build up my “hoard”.
My big problem there is my wife has finally learned how to shoot, and gotten her own guns, and she loves it so much she wants to go to the range every weekend. Hard to do that and build up a stock with how limited ammo availability is these days.

To build off something posted in a different thread…

If a person’s kids aren’t theirs but the collectives, does that mean the Collective can prevent abortions?

That’s because all they need to do to get a paycheck is show up. So yes, quite similar. Looking forward to them taking care of my healthcare needs…

NotCoach on April 10, 2013 at 6:09 PM

Well, I suppose if you have ammo, know how to utilize it properly, you don’t need to prepare in any other way…..

As long as you don’t mind TAKING the even more important stuff from people who have fully prepared.

If you don’t have a thousand times more food supplies, seeds for growing your own etc. than ammunition stored; a reliable(non municipal) water source; alternative shelter; various energy sources; tools and repair materials stockpiled, you ain’t doing it right.

yes….yes I do.

We are all supposed to be on food stamps.
We are all supposed to receive health care via single payer government proviso.
We are all supposed to receive minimal stipend pay from employers with their higher profit margin then being taxed away by the government.

M240H on April 10, 2013 at 5:50 PM

You forgot the most important one. Our entitlement to a choco ration.

Very creepy … and she, like all communist supporters, doesn’t think she’ll have to live under the rules imposed on everyone else.

Snitchmo on April 10, 2013 at 6:08 PM

Or perhaps if the collective thinks you already have enough kids – perhaps one – then they can FORCE you to have an abortion.
The current “collective” sure wouldn’t want to REDUCE the number of abortions being performed.

Sorry if I misled you there, not my intent, I agree with the end of your post, all those things are important, what I was getting at with the ammo piece was that it’s great to be independent at that too, not tied down to buying if you have to. I believe in efficiency and the multipurpose of what I own, taking from others isn’t my bit, though I don’t mind bartering if the need arises, but I intend to be prepared to the extend that armed confiscation is not needed at all, hope that clears up my position a bit.

Sadly, its not only your healthcare needs they insist on taking care of.

She may not be, if she is so fortunate to be included among the select elite who make and enforce the rules, but are personally exempt themselves. Since she’s a leftist university professor, so as long as she conforms to what’s expected of her, i.e. continue indoctrinating, she’ll be fine.
