New SarahPAC video: Palin will be a player in the 2014 midterms

posted at 4:41 pm on March 27, 2013 by Allahpundit

There’s going to come a point where Karl Rove concludes that his new group will do more to mobilize conservatives against the establishment Republicans it endorses than it will to mobilize centrist or casual GOP voters to support those candidates. With Palin, the Club for Growth, and conservative talk radio on the other side, he’ll likely have to stick to bluer states where there’s at least a chance that grassroots righties will give his candidates a pass in the primary on “electability” grounds. Maybe they’ll let him slide in, say, Colorado, Michigan, and Minnesota. Where else?

I’m curious to see if she takes a position on the Senate primary in Alaska. Joe Miller, whom she endorsed in 2010, might run; so might Sean Parnell, who served as her lieutenant governor and later succeeded her. That’s an easy call for Rove’s group given Miller’s tea-party cred but more complicated for her.

How has Sean Parnell done as governor? He might not be a bad choice if he’s a reliable, low key conservative who doesn’t walk around with a permanent 5 o’clock shadow.

The only real criticism of Palin…she needs a voice coach.

If it was good enough for Margaret Thatcher, is should be good enough for her…Thatcher became much more serious of a candidate and leader after taking those lessons…Sarah needs to drop her tone a notch to be taken more seriously…but she won’t, her ego won’t allow it.

There’s going to come a point where Karl Rove concludes that his new group will do more to mobilize conservatives against the establishment Republicans it endorses than it will to mobilize centrist or casual GOP voters to support those candidates.

I realize it is de rigueur to dump on Karl Rove but seriously, he was only responding to the Akin candidacies that cost us winnable seats last election.

Joe Miller and his supposed tea party cred may make him off limits for Rove but his favorability rating among Alaskans should make all outside groups run for cover. Sean Parnell and to a lesser extent Mead Treadwell have a reasonable shot at the seat in Alaska but Miller is a sure loser. Palin is certainly shrewd in electoral politics and I am sure she can read a poll same as Karl Rove. How exactly does it serve our side if we are too busy fighting Karl Rove to pick winning candidates everyone can support?

Joe Miller? Joe Miller lost to a WRITE-IN CANDIDATE in one of the most Republican states in the nation at the height of the Tea Party fervor. If Sarah Palin endorses Joe Miller again (against her own Lt. Governor, no less!) that would be the nail in her coffin as far as anyone taking her seriously ever again is concerned.

Because she’d lose. Her numbers aren’t good even in her homestate. And on that topic, she reportedly doesn’t even really live in Alaska anymore. She’s based in Arizona now.

Trust me, if she ran, the Dems and their cronies would pour a billion dollars into that race if they had to in order to defeat her. And she’d get little to no help from the GOP elites. Look at how easily they sold out Joe Miller even though he would’ve easily won his race in 2010.

Did you bother to watch the video? Ted Cruz wasn’t lying: he owes his election to her support. So does Rubio. So does Rand Paul.

Palin’s influence rests largely on a comparatively small nucleus of true believers but she is able to galvanize that core of support like no other politician but Obama, who is equally revered by his base.

Palin is a kingmaker in GOP politics. So is Rove. It’s only natural the two would despise each other since each respectively personifies the competing Conservative and Establishment factions of the Republican Party.

There can be only one, I suppose.

To be taken seriously you need a new line. The obvious fact — instantiated again and again over time — is that she has enormous influence and popularity. At the very least in how she enrages the Left. Why? Because she has a incisive and hopeful populist conservative message that cuts through the politic-ese to the nature of the elitist problem within the party. People sense that she “gets it.” Few other politicians seem to. Most talk around this problem. Palin always nails it, and this seems a function of her character rather than any packaging or political preparation. This puts her way ahead of most everybody right from the start.
