Kathleen Sebelius is just too stupid to be acknowledged Please tell me she was not permitted to reproduce. Forty years in the insurance industry and I never met an insurance commissioner who knew less about the industry. Believe me, 20% gross is not enough to run an insurance company. Even in the life and health industry. She personifies the problem with Washington, too stupid and too lazy to earn a living in the real world.

When insurance is provided by private companies and I have a complaint or dispute, I can contact the state insurance comissioner for assistance. When the government and bureaucrats are in charge of the decision making, what recourse do I have if there is a dispute?

You don’t have one. The death panels will very effectively ration available care.

So the tea party is actually more effective now that when they were out on the streets in 2010. They are now inside the state government offices being citizen lobbyists to protect taxpayer money.

Meanwhile, the unions have been outside the Capitol in Lansing still whining over the right to work law that goes into effect next week. Meanwhile, all of the teacher public unions that were working without contracts are all trying to shove new contracts for extended years down the throats of their “members” before the deadline next week where union “membership” truly becomes voluntary.

Routine screening for the general population does not save money. In fact, it increases overall costs. Screening for just the at-risk population, on the other hand, does save money.

For example, having all women get an annual mammogram increases costs. For one thing, mammograms pick up microscopic anomalies that doctors, who in the US are forced to practice defensive medicine, must address with further tests and biopsies even though in the vast number of cases those anomalies amount to nothing. If, however, only women who are at risk for breast cancer got annual mammograms, overall costs would decrease.

I’m not suggesting that women shouldn’t get annual mammograms, just saying they don’t save money.

Exactly.

And the dirtiest, darkest secret that no one will even utter?

As the population ages, we are spending more and more on keeping the oldest, frailest, sickest patients alive, even if they are no longer mentating. Why? It doesn’t cost the patient or family anything because the government pays for it. The hospital and doctors get paid. The family may get the patient’s Social Security money. The longer we keep people alive, even with very poor quality of life, the more it costs.

Should there be some kind of review to address this?

Yes.

Have the medical societies tried?

Not really (see above-the doctors get paid)

Would you trust anyone in the government to try to fix this problem?

This AMNESTY thingy is to add 20 million lawbreakers to the tax roles so they can be a new revenue stream for the Federal Government. Sure they will be teaters, but THEY ALREADY ARE on the TEAT. Now the Progressive ruling class wants to start TAKING FROM THEM for the goodies they have been getting for decades.

And the left is essentially trading the young Hispanic illegal population of workers and tax payers and giving THEM HEALTHCARE and Bene’s……..WAIT FOR IT………….While reducing the amount that Seniors and anyone over 45 can get/be reimbursed.

So, increase revenue stream into the federal coffers, reduce expenses and end of life care to seniors and the young and voila. A built in and moldable permanent slave class for the rulers in D.C. to rob.

……and all the while everyone thinks it’s about “immigration reform”.

All of the items that Sebelius ticks off in the beginning of the segment — checkups without co-pays, the illegality of declining higher-risk patients, etcetera — these things are not free.

They also do not require a 2,000 page bill and thousands of federal clerks to administer. Before the Progressive Boy Genius came along, most health insurance rules were controlled by the states. If people demand that insurance companies accept everyone who applies even when they are in the midst of an expensive crisis, then you can write that into a five page law. The same goes for rules mandating “free” checkups, condoms, zit cream, or what have you. I used to work for a major health insurer. Most mandates and rules take up no more space than a detailed memo.

The thing that irks me the most about Obamacare supporters and petty bureaucrats like Sebelius is that they NEVER tell us what the remaining 1,980 pages of the law are about. I can forgive that coming from ordinary liberals/progressives. I absolutely do not accept such equivocation and dissembling from the government employees charged with implementing the law.

Ugh.

That’s funny because when I saw the photo of Sebilius the first thing I thought was “Who kicked Sebilius in the face?”.

I’m going to go to healthcare.gov right now and find all out all about it, who’s with me??????

Why can’t they understand that? I understand that some people in this country are to ignorant or lazy etc. that they need big daddy government running their lives for them, fine just don’t expect me to pay for it.
