Dr. Ben Carson: I’m happy to expose any politician that rules by fear

posted at 4:01 pm on March 20, 2013 by Erika Johnsen

After he watched Dr. Ben Carson’s speech at CPAC, Jazz mentioned that one of his first reactions was that, if he were a Democrat, he’d be thinking: “That is the most dangerous man in the United States of America today.” Rush Limbaugh voiced much the same thought on his show yesterday, musing, “I think Ben Carson probably got everybody in the Democratic party really scared to death. It’s going to be really hard to demonize this guy. Really, really hard. Partially because of his race, but not just because he’s African American. It’s because, you can call this guy all kinds of demonic names, he just doesn’t fit the bill.”

I, too, would wager that his soft-spoken yet straightforward contributions to the national debate are not going unnoticed by Democratic strategists:

My philosophy is, always tell the truth. You don’t have an agenda, just be yourself and be natural, and then you don’t have to pose like you’re doing something different. … I’ve tried to lead the right kind of life, a life that is inspired by my love of God and my love of my fellow man. And, you know, it is very difficult to demonize someone under those circumstances.

And it’s not even like he’s trying to hide the fact that the sudden spotlight might have sparked some possible political ambitions, either; I doubt that it would ever actually happen, but when asked about 2016, Carson said that “It’s not something that’s atop of my agenda — my agenda is to encourage discussion,” which isn’t exactly ruling it out, is it?

Why the left won’t run Hillary in 2016.

She’s not black and they’ll run Booker, or such. They will then propagandize for the “first real black president…the other was only half black and not an Arican-American with slave descendancy…bla, bla, bla”.

Dr. Carson goofed on the 2nd amendment, “restricting guns in cities, or certain areas…”. He is new, refreshing an uninitiated. He’ll learn. If he is for amnesty he’s as over as all the others.

Ted Cruz might take note. If he’s for amnesty, he’s over too.

In the meanwhile I hope that Dr. Carson keeps talking about how destructive PC is for the land and the world.

Did we listen to the same speech? He was quite clear that he’s also opposed to conservatives who “fear monger.” Which means that this is not someone who’s going to demonize illegal immigrants in the strident fashions that the base wants. He’s not going to “take it to” the other side. The right will inevitably paint him as a “squish” when he doesn’t talk about “makers and takers.” But, you know, enjoy him for now I guess.

The Dems, if they don’t run Hillary, will run a White Celebrity Male. It’ll be Ben Affleck or such, some “iconographic” guy, young, wealthy, “famous” and *cool* with all the trendy media types — the White version of Obama’s Black Celebrity Cool Guy.

I like Dr. Carson quite a bit. But he DID say he is “for a pathway to citizenship” (for illegal aliens) and that’s a big blockade to me voting for him for the Presidency.

As it is for all candidates.

The GOP can’t run another Black guy for the Presidency, the country won’t go for it and the media will ruin Carson if he and the GOP try that.

Rubio, no; Rand Paul, no; maybe Ted Cruz…unless he comes forth with the same amnesty mess that Rubio and Paul are promoting.

Ronald Reagan was successful BECAUSE he was media-accepted and media-popular. If the GOP is ever to win again, we/they have to locate and support a nominee, then President, who has the appeal to the media that is necessary to alter this current non-stop gossip-to-destroy fest that the media has as to any candidate/person not among the Leftwing.

Which is why someone from the entertainment industry or media industry would likely be the best candidate, at this rate, as to the Right, if but for their need to turn the Leftmedia around. For a change.

I can’t see the Right getting anywhere as long as most if not 99percent of media authors and workers are Leftwing. Even the ones who claim to be “on the Right” are mostly all Liberals.

Oh they won’t demonize him huh…?
They chased Romney all the way back to high school while Obama magically has no history before running for Congress. He just appeared as a grown man.
A tried and true tactic will be to sexualize him ala Clarence Thomas and Herman Cain, Sarah Palin,Newt Gingrich,John McCain etc.
If that doesn’t work they will go after his medical record praying somebody in his cared died.
Number three will be his property and finances and then finally his family.

After watching this last campaign I know there is no level they won’t sink to.

Skidmark on history Obama got what he has purely through Affirmative-action set asides, shell games, Liberal Media agit-prop and seedy patronage. Without those Ogabe would be a rabble-rousing street hustler.

viking01 on March 20, 2013 at 4:27 PM

And, you know, it is very difficult to demonize someone under those circumstances.

He doesn’t really know liberals very well, then, apparently.

Liberals can demonize boy and girl scouts if they damn well want to – no rhyme or reason needed, just an inclination that it will do their cause some good. They don’t give a hot damn whether the target is deserving or not.

Midas on March 20, 2013 at 4:27 PM

…cause, so far, the Right/we keep bringing these great people with a variety of views up for consideration and then they end up being somewhat intolerable as to their media presence despite their good ideas.

Many of the Tea Party candidates were like that and it only served to cement the currently Leftwing media into being moreso as they ridiculed those candidates, some for understandable reasons even (like the “I used to be a witch” thing — gahhh).

Dr. Carson so far is an appealing person but there’s no reason he should even be discussed at this time in terms of the Presidency, or anyone else. Too much information over too much time, gives the Leftmedia too much time to pummel them.

Let’s wait and see what Carson is about.

Why is the Liberal media censoring Dr. Ben Carson? This guy is in demand, he’s hot property right now…he has multiple books topping multiple bestseller lists as we speak.

Why is FOX the only network promoting his political opinions and story and booking him for appearances on their daily shows? Carson isn’t expressly critical of Obama as he is of ALL Washington, R and D’s alike. The good Dr. is a registered Independent–he is NOT a Conservative. His amazing story and success should be showered upon this country, and in particular the black community where he was reared in a one parent home (I give Sonia Carson the Best Mother Ever Award).

Shame on you, Libs. You know the Doc’s got all your numbers, that’s why. You’d rather book halfway literate rappers and entertainers on your shows. You love a dumb populace, like Carson says. It’s how you thrive.

RepubChica, the good lady went back to school and got her own degree. She is something else. Every mother should have her gumption.

What Sonya Carson did was instill in her children the belief that being black and poor was a pitiful excuse for not achieving success in life and becoming who or what they wanted to be. Determined that her boys would beat the odds, she was willing to do whatever was necessary to make sure this happened.

Schadenfreude on March 20, 2013 at 4:56 PM

In June 2008, Ben Carson received the nation’s highest civilian award, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, not only for his medical breakthroughs but also for his charitable work in motivating youth to overcome “circumstances of upbringing or hardship to lead meaningful, accomplished, and compassionate lives.” He is a best-selling author and motivational speaker whose life story was portrayed by Cuba Gooding Jr. in the TNT movie Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story.

What, specifically, has Obama done to help so many?

And yet despite young Ben’s achievements in life, he will be the first one to say that it was his mother Sonya was the driving force behind his success. In fact, Dr. Carson says that after he was grown he discovered his mother only possessed a third-grade education and couldn’t read any of the book reports he gave her. But that didn’t stop her from requiring – and expecting – the very best from her sons.

rrpjr on March 20, 2013 at 5:12 PM

From his Wiki page:

In 1987, Carson made medical history by being the first surgeon to successfully separate conjoined twins (the Binder twins) who had been joined at the back of the head (craniopagus twins). The 70-member surgical team, led by Carson, worked for 22 hours. At the end, the twins were successfully separated and can now survive independently.

Seriously, media? How many in the black community have never heard of this man, deprived of such inspiration? I’m not saying there haven’t been stories and segments in passing here and there, but they don’t promote Dr. Carson in a wholesale manner like they do stories that serve to further insulate the black community from society as a whole. I bet you all the race propagandists have been booked at tenfold the rate this world-renowned neurosurgeon ever has on these networks.

IIRC a couple years ago there was a white student in Florida born in Cape Town who was suspended for indicating “African-American” on some school test form or other gummint paperwork.

Hey kid? Don’t you know that’s supposed to indicate non-honky “victim” ?!!!! eleventy!!!

If you get the chance, watch the movie about Dr. Carson, ‘Gifted Hands‘. It shows a bit of this surgery and his life. I watch it everytime it is on the tube.

Got it at a great price on Amazon. Planning on watching it with my hubby and son after we both read Gifted Hands. Son’s reading the children’s version, I’m reading both the adult version of that book and America the Beautiful. Lump me into the category of having Carson fevah. :)

I don’t necessarily care about him running for office–he’s too damn good for that. Just want him to keep talking. It’s wonderful hearing his brain get picked.

Equality is not pretending your eyes can not pick up melanin.

Breathtaking.

Why the left won’t run Hillary in 2016.

Schadenfreude on March 20, 2013 at 4:07 PM

Hate to disagree with you, but willing to place a HUGE bet on Shillary for 2016. And her win, no matter who we run. This will be sold as “another historical election, woman POTUS”. Most women will vote for her and when you add just a couple of points of men voters its a done deal. Easy math, really.

We’re really screwed.

We’re so blessed to have liberals around to tell us what the base wants, and what they will accept.

What Republican rules by fear? Really like Carson but I’m kinda tired of hearing the old Beckian “Republicans do it to” line. I’d like some names because this innuendo stuff bugs me.

Absolutely no one believes that you do not see and recognize Dr. Carson’s racial identity. No one. This colorblind malarky is for the birds. Equality is not pretending your eyes can not pick up melanin.

A colorblind society means law recognizes no color. That is what we mean by equal justice.

But…you’re right, this colorblind malarky is for the birds. What I find refreshing is that we can have the philosophical discussion and factor out the racist dogma.

Don’t you find that refreshing? I think most of America surely will.

Oh please! This is a serious charge on Carson’s part. It has nothing to do with blah blah blah establishment Republicans blah blah blah. It has to do with the integrity of allegations. Carson the “Independent” claimed Republicans too have ruled by fear. I want to know who and what he’s referring to, as should you and anyone else interested in the truth. If, say, Obama or Harry Reid used innuendo like that to smear the GOP I would hope you’d call them on it. Or maybe you’re a Beck fan and think it makes perfect sense to point out how many Marxists inhabit the White House and then turn around and say, “But Republicans are just as bad as Democrats”? I’ve had it with “independents” who twist themselves into pretzels trying to sound fair and balanced, and thus feel obligated to make sweeping, completely unsubstantiated allegations about unnamed members of the GOP.

Buy Danish on March 21, 2013 at 8:13 AM

CARSON: Well, I certainly hope so. I’ve tried to lead the right kind of life, a life that is inspired by my love of God and my love of my fellow man. And it is a very difficult to demonize someone under those circumstances. But I don’t think it’s just Democrats, you know. Republicans have been involved, too, in deceit and in trying to rule by fear. I think any politician who is doing that, I’m very happy to expose them and to more importantly, I think we need to offer solutions for the problems, not just complain.

Hopefully someone will demand specificity from him. It’s rather stunning that this part of his comments were ignored in this thread, and that my pointing them out was immediately met with hostility.

The first several stories I read about Dr. Carson never mentioned his race. I didn’t even know he was black until a leftist like you was complaining that he wasn’t “authentically black”.

You’re a racist, your above comment proves that, and it’s a bannable offense.

Moderators, do your duty please. Human filth like this doesn’t deserve to share the same bandwidth as me.
