I wish more people cared about holding the Democrats accountable for what they promised in 2006 vs. what they have done 2007-present.

Here’s what they said in 2006:

Instead of piling trillions of dollars of debt onto our children and grandchildren, we will restore “Pay As You Go” budget discipline.

Budget discipline has been abandoned by the Bush Administration and its Republican congressional majorities. Congress under Republican control has turned a projected $5.6 trillion 10-year surplus at the end of the Clinton years into a nearly $3 trillion deficit– including the four worst deficits in the history of America. The nation’s debt ceiling has been raised four times in just five years to more than $8.9 trillion. Nearly half of our nation’s record debt is owned by foreign countries including China and Japan. Without a return to fiscal discipline, the foreign countries that make our computers, our clothing and our toys will soon be making our foreign policy. Deficit spending is not just a fiscal problem – it’s a national security issue as well.

Our New Direction is committed to “Pay As You Go” budgeting – no more deficit spending.

And here’s an updated version to reflect the reality of the last six years:

Democrats proposed a New Direction for America, then did the exact opposite…

Democrats promised:

Far from keeping their promises, Democrats roughly tripled deficit spending in their first budget, and then roughly tripled deficit spending AGAIN in their second budget, and then have not passed a budget at all for the last four years.

Budget discipline has been abandoned by the Obama Administration and its Democrat congressional majorities. Congress under Democrat control has produced the SIX worst deficits in the history of America. The nation’s debt ceiling has been raised to more than $16.39 trillion, and the debt ceiling has been suspended until May 19, 2013, but we have already exceeded that ceiling with a total debt as of March 15, 2013 of over $16.73 trillion.

Democrats in 2006 claimed to be concerned about the Debt Held by the Public, saying:

Well, at the end of Fiscal Year 2007, when the last Republican budget ended and the first Democrat majority budget began, the annual deficit was less than $161 Billion, and the Debt Held by the Public was $5.0 Trillion.

The Democrats who claimed in 2006 that deficit spending is a national security issue quickly turned a $161 Billion deficit into annual deficits well over a Trillion dollars each and every year for the last five fiscal years, and Democrats MORE THAN DOUBLED the Debt Held by the Public in just the four Fiscal Years that Nancy Pelosi was Speaker of the House!

By the end of Fiscal Year 2011, the Debt Held by the Public had more than doubled from $5.0 Trillion to over $10.1 Trillion! And as of March 15, 2013, it is nearly $11.9 Trillion!

And yet, the liberal fools that infest the once great state of Illinois (my former home) will send this jerk back to the Senate with 67% of the vote in 2014.

Mind-boggling.

Some of us are stuck here for a while. The sad thing is, as bad as the Democrats are, the Republicans here aren’t much better. Do you want to elect a Democrat who is going to hire and protect unions and family members or a Republican who is going to hire and protect family members and unions? The entire state is run by people who are getting “theirs,” feeding at the trough, one hand washing the other, scratching backs, the end justifying the means and just about every other disfunctional cliche or saying out there. They don’t care who they are taking money from or whether they will eventually bleed the state dry, they just want to line their own pockets. The state is a giant pyramid scheme.

Durbin could easily be mistaken for a twin of his seperated at birth except this would be the one that had the cord wrapped his neck.

We need to clarify the terms: deficit and debt. Too many people don’t understand and therefore, tune out the problem.
