Remind me again why we kicked Michael Steele to the curb...?

At least he had some good ideas to try and attract young voters (I didn't scoff at the "Hip Hop Republicans" bit). And he was at the helm of the 2010 resurgence.

Actually I do not lean Democractic at all. My family is Reagan Democrats and I have voted GOP every election I have been eligible to vote it. I love the economic policy, personal responsibility and empowerment that conservatives espouse. And limited government. I am gay. Not rabid crazy gay activist gay, either.

I like reading the news here and have been reading since college. I worked on Jindal's 1st campaign as gov, his successful Congressional run, Bush 2004, and numerous elections in Colorado (Allard, Owens, Beauprez). But I get so miffed when I come here and I get compared to a pedophile, pervert, some devious person, etc. I am not trying to ruin your society or stop you from practicing your religion.

I will NEVER vote Democrat. But I don't feel comfortable voting GOP knowing that there are people like the above in its ranks. Oh well LOL....

You people are rude and vile. You simply cannot have an intelligent discussion with people who talk this way about other people. No wonder you will continue to lose elections. Again and again. Until you catch your tone, get used to losing.

I suppose you lean Democratic, but the real problem the GOP faces is that even their own consevative politically kids agree with you. I know gay kids in their 20's and they want to be Republicans, but for this type of talk.

The way I look at this conversation is that it can't do much damage politically for the GOP when the election is so far away, but I just hope for some discretion during election season. Discretion is a Conservative value--just a reminder.

Reince Priebus: Rob Portman’s gay marriage position won’t limit the RNC’s support for him at all

There Goes The Neighborhood on March 18, 2013 at 11:56 PM

I recall when Todd Akin said something stupid and then apologized, Priebus pulled financial support along with Rove. I guess a homosexual "marriage" politician is better than a Conservative in favor of Marriage in Priebus's eyes.

Glad to know he stands where I always thot he did.

Wonder what would happen if ALL Conservatives stayed home?

Ah, now, don't kid yourself. It might have been slouching that way for the last 40 years, but now it’s barreling full tilt, pedal to the metal towards Gomorrah.

Why is D.C. so obsessed with the topic?
Why are under 30 year olds consumed with this topic?

Because we are Romans 1, and after 40 years of slouching towards Gomorrah, God has given us up to ‘shameful affections’. Everything Paul warned of is coming to pass, just as everything Pope Paul VI warned about in Humanae Vitae 45 years ago has come to pass and they're definitely connected. Why the likes of Allahpundit and our other resident atheists still don’t see the Truth, that rejecting God and His laws results in destruction, is baffling to me. It’s all happening right before our eyes. I pray they wake up before it is too late.

Oh, and the RNC can kiss my assets goodbye.

Being a conservative I hate the sniveling Republicans almost as much as I hate the Socialist Democrats. Do the Republicans really think, by sniffing Gay or Hispanic bicycle seats, they are going to increase their vote from these minorities? Do the Republicans really think that by throwing money (but not quite as fast as the Democrats) at problems or minorities they will increase their vote totals? Why vote for an imitation Socialist when you can have the real one at the same price? Give the Democrats time and they will choke on their own spit--let's not fight the enemy by becoming one of them.

Here are the pertinent sections on marriage in the 2012 Republican Party Platform.

Defending Marriage Against An Activist Judiciary

A serious threat to our country’s constitutional order, perhaps even more dangerous than presidential malfeasance, is an activist judiciary, in which some judges usurp the powers reserved to other branches of government. A blatant example has been the court-ordered redefinition of marriage in several States. This is more than a matter of warring legal concepts and ideals. It is an assault on the foundations of our society, challenging the institution which, for thousands of years in virtually every civilization, has been entrusted with the rearing of children and the transmission of cultural values.

A Sacred Contract: Defense of Marriage

That is why Congressional Republicans took the lead in enacting the Defense of Marriage Act, affirming the right of States and the federal government not to recognize same-sex relationships licensed in other jurisdictions. The current Administration’s open defiance of this constitutional principle—in its handling of immigration cases, in federal personnel benefits, in allowing a same-sex marriage at a military base, and in refusing to defend DOMA in the courts—makes a mockery of the President’s inaugural oath. We commend the United States House of Representatives and State Attorneys General who have defended these laws when they have been attacked in the courts. We reaffirm our support for a Constitutional amendment defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman. We applaud the citizens of the majority of States which have enshrined in their constitutions the traditional concept of marriage, and we support the campaigns underway in several other States to do so.
