Open thread: Sunday morning talking heads

Tired of watching Jeb Bush maneuver on immigration and hedge on 2016? Then turn off your TV. Not only is he set to appear on all five major shows today (the rare “full Ginsburg”), he’ll be on Univision’s “Al Punto” too — the first time in modern political history that someone’s done six separate appearances in a single Sunday morning. When did we as a society reach the point where Jeb talking about his new book is worthy of saturation coverage on the order of a national emergency?

Meanwhile, not only is Rand Paul not scheduled, the rest of the guests penciled in across the dial this morning seem to be on tap to talk budgets and the sequester, not drones or counterterrorism. You’d think the Paul/McCain dust-up yesterday would warrant one or two navel-gazing segments about libertarianism, interventionism, and the “fight for the soul of the GOP” or whatever. On the contrary, as I look again at the roster I see that Maverick, a perennial Sunday show invitee, won’t be on this morning either. That’s probably more historic than Jeb’s feat. The line-up via National Journal:

Meet the Press hosts Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii, Rep. Cory Gardner, R-Colo., former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn

Face the Nation hosts New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Bush, Sen. Rob Portman, R-Ohio, and Rep. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md

This Week hosts Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wisc., DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Bush

Fox News Sunday hosts Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., and Bush

State of the Union hosts House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy, Bush and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich
