Gohmert: Oh, we can’t afford WH tours anymore? Okay, how about no golf outings either?

posted at 9:31 pm on March 5, 2013 by Erika Johnsen

Heh.

Allahpundit already explained the motivations behind the White House’s announcement that they’re cancelling all public tours of the president’s residence until further notice; the Obama administration is putting all of their best efforts into making the sequester cuts as painful, visible, and wide-ranging as humanly possible in order to ensure that no ordinary American citizen should be able to escape their effects unscathed in some capacity — ’cause let’s be real, how else will they convince the country that we cannot turn back the tide of government, we must hike taxes, and that we need to elect more Democrats in 2014? Options for cutting the budget in ways that do not negatively impact the public at large need not apply.

Well, if we’re asking Americans to do without a few of their civic/historical leisure options, wouldn’t it only be egalitarian of us to ask the president to cut down on his recreational leisure, too? We could certainly save a few dollars on law enforcement, security, and transport for those frequent golf trips the president likes to take, no? photo Screenshot2013-03-05at92127PM_zps715d15c0.pngI laughed, but come on now: The White House was practically begging for open season on their own spending habits with that strategy.

Things have kind of been blowing up in the presidents face since the sequester hit, no? Who’s making these boneheaded decisions, anyway? Can the president himself really be this obsessed with punishing the people for something that he himself put in place? Evidently he can. These are the actions of an insane man. ‘costs taxpayers $1.4BILLION per year’ (that’s 20 times more expensive than British Royal Family)

By Daily Mail Reporter

Politicians looking for savings to deal with the national debt crisis should perhaps start by abolishing the President.

Barack Obama and his family cost the taxpayer $1.4billion per year, according to a recently published book.

By contrast, the British Royal Family costs less than $60million each year.

It’s not about screwing the staff. It’s about screwing the people who visit DC and had planned to do the tour.

Obama doesn’t care about saving the money or complying with the spending cut requirements. I wouldn’t be surprised if he plans on delaying funding or holding up work by more than the required amount just to add to the pain.

For sadists, it’s about the pain.

Well, if we’re asking Americans to do without a few of their civic/historical leisure options, wouldn’t it only be egalitarian of us to ask the president to cut down on his recreational leisure, too?

And how about 1st Moochies vacys? Is it possible to cut down on lavish trips on the tax payer dime?

Michelle Obama and her two daughters took a ski trip to Aspen over President’s Day weekend in February. Judicial Watch, a public interest group that investigates and fights government corruption, announced that the vacation cost at least $83,182.99. According to Judicial Watch’s report:

In June of 2011, Michelle Obama took her family and staff to South Africa and Botswana. The stated purpose of the trip was “to encourage young people living in the two growing democracies to become involved in national affairs.” A Judicial Watch report, based upon documents obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, shows that: According to U.S. Department of Defense’s published hourly rates for the C-32A aircraft used for the trip, Judicial Watch calculated the total cost to American taxpayers was $424,142

In August of 2010, Michelle Obama, reportedly with one of her daughters, two friends, and four of their daughters (this is only reported by the NY Times – U.S. Air Force officials have not released official records), went on a vacation to Spain. A Judicial Watch report, based upon documents obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, shows that: According to U.S. Department of Defense’s 2010 published hourly rates, the total cost of flying Michelle Obama and her guests from Camp Andrews to Malaga and then to Mallorca and back to the United States was $199,323.75. This is based on approximately 17 hours and 15 minutes of total flying time. The 15-member flight crew stayed at Tryp Guadalmar, a nearby motel. Lodging cost was $10,290.60 and car rental cost was $2,633.50. Food cost was $876.30, including $57.68 for four bottles of maple syrup and a package of pancake mix. Secret Service reports show that costs also included $254,461.20, including $26,670.61 for a chauffer tour of Costa del Sol, and $50,078.78 for a travel planning company. (George Soros is 50% owner of the travel planning company.)

The Obama family’s 2011 Hawaiian vacation costs a staggering

$3,629,622

– in travel alone, according to the Hawaii Reporter. Michelle Obama left early for the vacation at a cost of $100,000 in travel expenses. President Obama left later on Air Force One, and his cost to fly from Washington to Hawaii and then back again totaled $3,271,611.

There was a lead within the past week that the American public spent 1.4 billion dollars on the First Family last year with travel and entertainment and security.

The First Family must reimburse the taxpayer for all travel expenses, including those of their security for all non-exxential travel. Vacations are not essential. Golf trips are not essential. None of the First Lady’s or Daughter’s trips are essential to the taxpayer. All cut or the Obama’s pay.

Let’s also discuss the Obama penchant for multimillion dollar vacations several times per year. Let’s discuss Michelle taking a separate jet to the same destination 2 1/2 hours before the president because she didn’t wish to wait for him, or for that matter, separate jets to the Hawaii vacation, again, because she didn’t want to wait in DC while he attended to pressing business with congress. The list of these excursions is long, and costly to the taxpayer. Fueling, flying and maintaining those jets, along with secret service personnel, and staff and their accommodations are ALL on the taxpayer dime. Further, the fact that Obama has a private chef, when the White House has a staff of professional chefs is another little expense item that could and should be eliminated, along with those numerous CZARS Obama keeps on payroll.

Valerie Jarret enjoys limousine service wherever she goes. She is not entitled to it under law, but gets it by special order… of the president. Again, at taxpayer expense.

As I mentioned… the list of extraneous expenses is LONG and COSTLY.

The more compelling question – which the GOP should pound home over and over on TV:

People are tired of the division, the permanent campaign. This message would resonate. Obama is juvenile, petulant, pig-headed and mean.

Cancelling WH tours for those who’ve been planning their D.C. trip will infuriate people because of the $$ spent on the Obamas jetting off on their next vacation.

Trips to D.C. are not usually spontaneous junkets for most Americans. There’s a lot of logistics and planning into trying to see the most that you can.

First of all, we all know Boehner will do nothing, he is terrible and as big a part of the problem as anyone.

Second, instead of making it a petty tit for tat play, how about they say, “no more money for golf outings until a budget is passed” This President has missed 4 deadlines in a row by ignoring the laws pertaining to the budgetary process. I find that a bit more important than White House tours or golf.

Third, it still doesnt matter because Boehner is incomtetent and weak.

Imagine some nice commercials right now.. Obama’s 10 million dollar Hawaii vacations, $100lb steak dinners and the chef taxpayers pay for the WH dog!

The strategy of the Republican leadership seems to be aimed at never getting Obama, the Democrats or the media upset. So they’ll do nothing but wait by their phones hoping Obama calls them for another meeting. What a freaking joke!
