You know, if I lied in my job interview, and then got caught after having been hired, I’d be out on my keester in nothing flat.

So when Obama talks of growing the economy “from the middle out”, I think it’s more of code-speak regarding:
1) Tax the top more
2) Give more of that money to the Democratic faithful.

Ever since Obama took a dive, in Gallup, the sequester and in general, they’ve been in camp Goebbels, OfA and Axelturd.

I think the 30,000 foot summary is that the Progressives in D.C. can’t accomplish everything they want to accomplish “top down”, and they are calling for progressives in society to rise up “bottom up”, but that won’t happen until they inspire a rebellion from the “inside out”.

So when Obama talks of growing the economy “from the middle out”, I think it’s more of code-speak regarding:
1) Tax the top more
2) Give more of that money to the Democratic faithful.

Thanks for the link. Doesn’t quite address middle out expansion of the economy though.

I actually think Obama was cleverly saying that by soaking the middle class with increased taxes, health insurance costs, energy prices and devalued currency, the economy will “necessarily” expand. At least he had to be thinking that.

While We are at it, can someone please ask Obama what he means by growing the economy from the middle out? That reeked of sloganeering without any actual economy background or data to back it up?

Why does he want it? I hardly believe it’s the reason he gives below, which is that it’ll create the environment necessary to finally resolve the spending cuts vs higher taxes battle. Is it a trigger for something? And this explains why he never worked on a deal to avoid it. He wanted it. And as you’ll see below, and this is way back in October, he’s already comfortable with it taking up to 6 months, ie until the end of June of this year, to solve .

Excerpted from Breitbart: In an off-the-record interview with the editors of the Des Moines Register, President Obama reversed course, taking credit for a sequester that he anticipates will be “in place.”:

OBAMA: “So when you combine the Bush tax cuts expiring, the sequester in place, the commitment of both myself and my opponent — at least Governor Romney claims that he wants to reduce the deficit — but we’re going to be in a position where I believe in the first six months we are going to solve that big piece of business.” [emphasis added]

I don’t really know that you can claim that much logical consistency for Obama. I think he’ll brag about his role in the sequester when he wants to claim he’s a responsible spender looking for budget cuts, and deflect when he wants to shift the blame to the Republicans.

Of course, the way to play the game with him is to flip it around. When he blames the Republicans, quote him bragging about the sequester. When he talks about spending cuts, highlight him blaming the Republicans for forcing any kind of spending cuts at all.
